Is he player coach, or has he now retired from playing?
Good luck to him, just don't be boring.

Probably not the coaching announcement that most were expecting but Wallace knows the league and has a good playing pedigree. The MK team seemed to play for him so hopefully that work ethic continues.
The most important thing is that both Wallace & Doucet are given a chance and most important of all given time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

My thoughts here are that we’ve gone for the Lord/Keefe strategy - fresh out of playing career, young and will engage with fans. After cherno didn’t work out and the recent success of Devils and Giants it was very likely to be of a similar strategy. The difference here is Lord and Keefe had years playing at their clubs so a good understanding of the club culture etc.

Interesting appointment. Did well at MK with little resources. Let's see how he does before writing him off. Welcome to Nottingham Tim.

I do like Panthers' "jumped at the chance"/"lengthy discussions" confusion, but other than that obvious guff I'm quite happy with it really, prefer a young coach to an old codger.

My initial reaction was quite a negative one. It's certainly not an experienced coach. Having thought on it for a few minutes i've now become more comfortable with it. I do find it odd it's taken this long to then go with a familiar face and the whole Furland thing is a bit odd. However, I think back to the opinions of some others and myself a few weeks back and I was quite happy with the thought of a player coach with EIHL experience backed up with good playing pedigree. On the back of the success seen by the likes of Keefe and Lord I thoyght it may be the way to go. So we havn't quite gone that route as it appears he will be just bench coach. If we'd have signed him with his CV up to 2 years ago to come in as player coach i'd of sort of been ok with that based on his playing CV. On top of that he does also have 2 years in the EIHL with 2 clubs at opposite ends of the spectrum, one of those coaching too.
So in the end, reflecting on what I(amd some others) was saying a few weeks back, I think the guy certainly deserves a chance and it's probably a better fit than your initial reaction may be.
I think that makes sense, bit of a waffle again that one. 🤔 but hey, Im trying to be positive.

The difference here is Lord and Keefe had years playing at their clubs so a good understanding of the club culture etc. Do we want a coach with a "good understanding" of the Panther's club culture? I bloody wouldn't. Lord and Keefe were leaders on their team and they shaped that culture before they ever donned a suit and stood on the bench. There's no one bring that leadership on the ice for us. We need a new culture. I hope Wallace can bring it with himself and his signings. We desperately need some leaders on the ice.

Surely no one expected Panthers to go down the experienced coach route did they after last years shambles.. I'm presuming hes finished from playing or may register in case theres a injury crisis.
Like what's been said he knows the league and should have good connections/contacts

Lets just hope he and Doucet are left alone to do their jobs and that interference from those higher up is minimal. At least he knows the league and what type of player is required. Spoken of very highly with the MK faithful despite the situation down there. Not seen one single negative comment from MK about this guy they're all delighted for him.

My point was not to come across as a bad thing. What I meant by that was the advantage Lord and Keefe had was they knew how the club worked from a player’s perspective so they must of had a good idea where to go with their clubs as a head coach. What I was putting across was that Wallace doesn’t have that experience and that’s the difference in panthers going for a similar strategy. Hopefully that won’t matter. Although people may be underwhelmed, I’m encouraged by panthers/Doucet seeing how the other clubs are building success and trying to go down a similar line. The fact he’s not been at panthers will hopefully be to his advantage.
