The general opinion on the SENS forums I frequent, they think they'll cut him loose. Talk of Phoenix signing him have also been mentioned. I rate the guy, but I don't want him to bleed us dry.

I am pleased with that. We got him for another 3 years, & avoided going through arbitration. I am happy, Emery is happy, & the SENS are happy.

Schubert just re-signed for the SENS as well, 3 years also. I hope they're moving him back on defense even though I love his grit in the offensive zone. I think his size will be better for us defensivley. Not sure what will happen to Gerber, but this is a snip of an e-mail I was sent by someone in Ottawa.
''As for Gerber, there is still L.A. and Pheonix looking for goaltending, Raycroft from Toronto will go to one and I think the other might just be desperate enough to take the large salary that comes with Gerber. Although, there is some speculation in Ottawa that Emery may be traded. God I hope not.!!''

I'd have taken that in a heart beat for Penner. He was making the league minimum last year apparently. Crazy deal.

He'll be worth it eventually, but ironically enough, probably not for five years or so..

Not sure what else Burke could do, as he's still waiting on news from Selanne and Neidermeyer. Oilers are certainly not making any friends - I just cant see why they made that offer.
Great news for my Devils getting Parise signed up, the guy is fantastic and will be a huge part of the team this year. Incidentally, he'll make about 3 million a year for the next 4 years, whilst Penner will make just over 4 million for the next 5. Read into that what you will!

Desperate to keep his job or not, thats a silly move IMO, and the opinion of many commentators/analysts.

It's reported that Kings' forward Mike Cammalleri has re-signed with the team on a two year contract worth $3.5m per season. If that's true, it's a freakin' steal for Los Angeles and shows that the Penner & Roy contracts are just too dumb for words.
2007-08>break out season for Cammalleri.

He aint worth it now, but when this contract runs out, he probably will just about be worth it! Stupid move by the Oilers.

I think Upshall and Shinboi have hit the nail on on the head about this Penner deal.
I thought it was usally the Islanders doing the crazy deals.

How on earth did they manage that? Didn't he break 80 points last year?

This seems a fairly reasonable argument for how the arbitrator might've reached that number, but the Kings've got the best of it by a mile.

TSN actually think it's a good acquisition for Edmonton. LinkOttawa have made an awesome free agent signing. LinkAtlanta have signed ex-Leaf Karel Pilar to a contract.

Mike Peca is reportedly "close too signing" for Columbus but then that was reported a week or so a go reference him signing for NYR, but then it was also reported the Leafs were his prime destination. Take your pick. ;D Peca has now inked a one year deal with the Blue Jackets. tsn.ca
