NJ have signed defenceman Vitaly Vishnevski. I think the Devils only have around $5.5m left if they use $1m for any injuries.

My missus is one happy bunny with that news. She was holding back on ordering a Lundqvist jersey, now she will be ordering one pretty sharpish...think that news will make her day!

I can see them struggling to make the play-offs. Only so much Brodeur can do.

This has made this Ranger Fan very very happy, was worried he would go elsewhere but he knows Rangers going all out this season. Think Montoya will be back-up as weekes has left but we'll see.

It appears quite a few Habs fans are pleased he's left for the Oilers. I'll always remember him for crunching MacAuley's head against the ACC glass

A few deals have been done in the last few days, the NJ Devils have a new coach in Brent Sutter.Atlant have signed free agent forward Alexandre Giroux to a multi year deal. Phoenix re-signed defenseman Brendan Bell to a new contract. I like Bell and was disappointed when he left the Leafs.

New Toronto winger Jason Blake had his first interview with the T.O. media this week, and is looking forward to the coming season.

Good pick up for the Senators, but I wonder who'll be in goal for them next season depending on what happens with Emery at arbitration?!

Genuine question Shin, as I don't have much idea about Donavan. Do you rate him above Schaefer? Also, tried finding out about this Emery 'arbitration' thingy, & can't find a bean. Got any links Mester?

This explains arbitration pretty well. Sens also collected $1.3(ish)m in salary cap back from the Schaefer/Donovan trade, seems like good business to me.

Sorry cov81. I get what arbitration is, I just wanted info with regard specifically to Ray Emery's/Ottawa Senators 'arbitration' situation. I appreciate I didn't make it clear. Sorry.

Oh right, sorry Wigwam, crossed wire there Only thing I've read about Emery was on a hockeybuzz.com Sens blog from a local sports writer, so more opinion than solid fact, but it's here if you're interested: Quick thoughts on Schaefer/Donovan trade

Cheers for the link mate. Interesting to read that the money saved from the Schaefer/Donovan swap, is possibly going to be used to extend Dany Heatley's contract, this is good news as far as I am concerned (Being a Sens/Heatley fan)..as I think he becomes a unrestricted free agent at the end of this coming season.
