Owen Nolan signs for Calgary. It looks like they're building for a cup run 5 years ago.

There must be something up with the mans personality Shin. To get someone like that for so little suggests something is up. Not necessarily. He's a " me me" player but so was Berezin and he did alright for us, but I don't think the contract equates to " something being up" with Jason Blake.

I think a 40 goal scorer would go for at least $5m though surely?

Canucks finally sign someone, but the signings arent exactly going to get me to excited. Curtis Sanford, back up nettie who's a replacement for Sabourin who has gone to Penguins. Brad Isbister, Byron Ritchie and we have re-signed Lucas Krajieck, which is one i am pleased about.

Kozlov returns to Thrashers, signs $11 million deal
By CRAIG CUSTANCE The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 07/04/07 The Thrashers have signed veteran forward Slava Kozlov to a three-year deal worth a total of $11 million, according to Thrashers general manager Don Waddell.
Kozlov was second on the team with 80 points in helping lead the Thrashers to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history last season.
"Very rarely are these decisions made on everything else besides money, but I think he left a little money on the table," Waddell said. "He deserves a lot of credit, I think Kozzie made a good decision based on a lot of things, not just money.".............
Thought we'd lost him. Reports yesterday had him going to either the Stars or TML but it looks like he gave Atlanta a home town discount. The guy treated me to my first NHL hat trick last Nov, so this is a big signing.......... For me at least ;D

I think a 40 goal scorer would go for at least $5m though surely? Blake has only scored 40 goals once in his career to date, so it's not as if the Leafs were dealing with a Andreychuk type of player. It depends on what Blake wanted, a 5 year deal worth $20m or a 4 year deal worth $20m. Maybe he wanted job security so to speak? He's 33 already and this will probably be his last contract where he can make a substantial amount of cash. The Leafs could have done their usual contract thing, and thrown massive amounts of cash at some washed up player, but didn't, they used it sensibly to sign a player that they actually needed. I would have loved for Ryan Smyth to have signed for Toronto, but they don't need him or his big fat contract. JFJ got it right for once.

Just a bit of gossip from nhlline (RUMOUR) According to a source, the Leafs are working the phones trying their hardest to ship out goaltender Andrew Raycroft within the next few days. Apparently the Leafs want him gone for picks and/or prospects to make room for another player. If Raycroft goes, you can almost guarantee to welcome back Curtis Joseph in Leafs Nation. (Rumour) Thefourthperiod.com reports the Detroit Red Wings are among teams interested in Leaf goaltender Andrew Raycroft

Edmonton have got balls. I said that offer sheets would become more popular, but i didn't think they'd actually go for Vanek! tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=212929&hubname4 first rounders and he's going to be earning a lot. Looks like the dismantling of the Sabres is in full swing...

I read that the Sabres are expected to match the offer rather than take the picks.

(Rumour) Thefourthperiod.com reports the Detroit Red Wings are among teams interested in Leaf goaltender Andrew Raycroft I'd hoped Toronto had departed from the notion of signing players past their prime. Joseph was probably my favourite player during his tenure with the Leafs but his days in Toronto should be firmly over. Hopefully the signing of Clemmensen and the rumours about Raycroft being moved will mean Joseph doesn't return.

A bit suprised at losing Mike Comrie...but I can understand it from Mike's point of view. He'll do well in New York.

Canucks sign the top scoring front line attacker we need, oh no sorry its another defenseman Aaron Miller from LA LinkIn all honesty i like this signing and we now have an excellent defensive line up with alot of options. But i cant help feel i little disappointed we havent strengthened our attack! Still time tho.
