Quite a few deals done over the last day or so, so here goes: - Chicago defenseman Adrian Aucoin is on the verge of joining the Flames.
- Stanley Cup winning goalie JS Giguere has re-signed with Anaheim for a whopping $24m over four years.
- Tampa Bay have re-signed defenseman Shane O'Brien to a two year contract worth $2m
- Toronto have done likewise with Carlo Colaiacovo who signs for 3 years with the Leafs.
- Robert Lang's days with the Wings are over as Ken Holland refuses to give the player a new contract.

Best news all summer I've never rated the guy anyway, well certainly not when it comes to the play offs, as his production seems to dip.

I watched him these play offs very closely, and hes just very lazy, and his face off sucess ratio is incredibly poor

Expect us to trade the second overall pick. Vancouver and Edmonton are interested.

I can only think the reason is that there's no genuine super star in the draft, that would be able to do what either Malkin, Ovechkin or Crosby have done for their teams. That and the fact Philadelphia have obtained a plethora of young players recently meaning they feel able to drop a high pick.

Tampa are another name interested, and local papers are reporting that they're offering up Brad Richards as bait. Using the second gives us a good chance of getting a quality player in a few years or so. Trading the second plus Umberger for Richards guarantees us a quality player now and in the future. I'd do it without a moments thought. Richards is an incredible player.

Stats alone tell the story Nabokov GP 50 W 25 Toskala GP 38 W 26 Hope he gets the starting role with the Leafs his one hell off a netminder, nothing flashy but very solid you should be happy with having a nettie like Ves. I'm chuffed to bits that San jose traded mark Bell he got 21Pts from 71 games, lazy as hell was a problem in the sharks dressing room, just not good enough.

Nice little trade there Shin. Toskala is one hell of a young goalie and Bell is a very tidy little player.

Nice little trade there Shin. Toskala is one hell of a young goalie and Bell is a very tidy little player. Bell was impressive as a Blackhawk, but IMO he was made to look good on a poor roster with the hawks, in San Jose he was aproblem from day one firstly getting arrested for a hit and run, in the offseason, he had a torrid relationship with head coach Ron Wilson he also had off the ice matters with Kyle McLaran. Hopefully he can get himself sorted in Toronto.

Pleased with Toskala signing, a few more solid guys like this and with a bit of luck we might even make the play0offs next season. We won't go far but making them would be good!

The Preds have shipped Tomas Vokoun to Florida for three draft picks! There number one goalie headed out in a deal bringing in no NHL ready talent, a first rounder in '08, a second rounder this year and a second rounder either this year or in '08. Seems like a good deal for Florida who needed a goalie...I never thought they'd get one of the top goalies in the game though, and certainly not at that price! Incredible.

Nice little trade there Shin. Toskala is one hell of a young goalie and Bell is a very tidy little player. Toskala was one of the goalies that I wanted the Leafs to go for as soon as his name was mentioned. I like Mark Bell too and it appears Doug Gilmour had a big influence in the Leafs getting him. Troubled times have gotten the guy down but there's no reason why he can't get back to the form he showed in Chicago, a lot of people said the signing of Belfour in 2002 was risky but they were proved wrong. Our GM has claimed Raycroft & Toskala will compete for the starting job but I hope this is the end of Raycroft who was, in all honesty, the reason why the Leafs didn't quailify for the post season. Hopefully McCabe will be sent to the Islanders and/or Kubina going West to Edmonton now.

There's plenty of goalies out there capable of being a back up and I don't want a 40 year old Curtis Joseph. He's had his time as a Leaf and I sincerly hope he doesn't get his wish. I'd rather have Felix Potvin as back up and he hasn't played pro hockey since 2004!

Raycroft played a few blinders last year though Shin, he's capable as a 20 game backup surely?
I agree that Toskala will be number one though, not to the same extent that Biron will be at Philly though.

Toskala wont be the back up for the Leafs, as Raycroft will be gone. I thought Ferguson said at the draft you were keeping Raycroft and playing the pair of them in tandem? Edit - Sorry Shin, you already said that. What makes you think Raycroft's days are numbered? Or is that wishful thinking? There's plenty of goalies out there capable of being a back up and I don't want a 40 year old Curtis Joseph. He's had his time as a Leaf and I sincerly hope he doesn't get his wish. Edit - Sorry Shin, you already said that. What makes you think Raycroft's days are numbered? Or is that wishful thinking? It makes absolutely no sense to have close to $4m tied up with your netminders in my mind, especially given the Leafs don't have that much money left on the wage cap. A tandem is all very well and good in theor, it worked for the 'Canes in 2006 with Gerber and Ward, but what happened to Gerber...? Toskala is 30, Raycroft is 27 (IIRC) therefore they both have many seasons ahead of them, but Justin Pogge is slated to be the franchise goalie, so it means either Toskala or Raycroft are odd man out. Toskala is a better all round player than Raycroft, so I see him being moved. Raycroft played a few blinders last year though Shin, he's capable as a 20 game backup surely? Yes he's capable of being a back up and the word "few" is very apt when discussing Raycroft. He probably played to his capabilities in only 5-10 games last year and he played in an eye whopping 72. It says it all really. I agree that Toskala will be number one though, not to the same extent that Biron will be at Philly though. The starting position is for Toskala to lose as far as I'm concerned and I, like a vast majority of Toronto fans, have little faith in Raycroft.

Sabres' Daniel Briere has turned down the team's latest offer on a new deal, reportedly close to the 5 year contract worth $25m he was offered last year. LinkStarting offer is $6m per season then...
