I'm like many of the Panthers faithful though in seeing Stancok as the major weak link in this season's defence-find someone big and steady to play with Pelletier, put Meyers with Neilson and I have a feeling things will suddenly tighten up in front of Askey... I think you're right there. Stancok has been a disappointment. I wasn't his greatest fan last time around (I wasn't a Charron fan either - enough to get me lynched on here! ) though he was a deal more effective then. We don't think our ZT policy is very strict but it's hurting Robert. Neilson can stay home on D but he is so good at quarterbacking the offence (our best playmaker) that he has to have licence to go forward when he sees fit. That means Danny Meyers having to play a more stay home role and I'm not sure he's really suited for that but he needs to try. Pelletier needs a linemate like Bob Nordmark, someone who can read the game, cover back for him, tell him where and when to go and provide the physical presence in front of the net. If we bring in another Dman then fingers crossed it's someone like that - preferably a bit more physical than Bob was. With the right linemate I still think Pelletier can do a good job for us as his speed and work rate are useful weapons. Couldn't agree more with that.

Nice to see you couldn't address the question at hand Chris. Sorry Ill try again Craighead, great player top scorer and 220 odd minutes in penalties, however he ripped the heart of the Panthers dressing room. Again great first season, brought back to sell more shirts (there is no denying that), and another player like Lee a great fan favourite, but ultimately they couldn't bring that elusive league trophy to Panthers. You can't answer the question for a second time can you? We aren't talking about the 2004-05 season, the point at hand is the 2003-04 season when a Panthers team WITH Jinman won the Challenge Cup. You ask people what Panthers acheived with said player on their roster, and when they respond, you ignore the logical/factual answers and instead modify the argument to suit your steadfast attempt to continually mock the Nottingham Panthers IHC. Score!!

Look well if we end up drawing the game on friday and it goes into OT and no one scores and it goes into a shootout and we lose, bet people would scream for rasto then lol.

I think Rasto was always going to be the first out of the door from a defensive point of view. Lets face it, it's always going to be significantly easier for a club to gas one netminder rather than the entire 'D' who should play a large part in making a netminder's job easier by keeping things simple. I don't think our 'D' has done nearly enough for Rasto this season, but that aside, there were still many examples where he hasn't covered himself in glory. It's the same in football insofar as a mistake by a netminder will be magnified many more times than a error made by a D-man or a forward. That's just another factor why Rasto has been replaced by Tom Askey in my opinion.
Lets hope that TA turns out to be a decent netminder. His stats don't exactly make me sit up and think 'wow', but neither did Rasto's and he virtually won us a Play-Off Final single-handedly!
What I don't like though is our defence's ability to turn it on when it suits them. It's not a problem that is confined to Nottingham, as it seems that the inaptitude of a team's defence is the determining factor in whether a netminder gets the chop or is adored by the fans.

As for Rasto going....only time will tell. Chopping Lindsay last season worked and I've always thought cutting the netminder for a defence in trouble was the easy option for a coach....after all a nettie has to be out there for 60 mins unlike the skaters and a change is usually seen as a positive move by the fans and meets with approval.
Taking the easy option worked last season...doubt if it will for Ellis twice in a row........however welcome to Nottingham Mr Askey and thanks for your contribution Rasto.

It looks like he ll be either 33 or 35
Question :- Has there ever been a panthers netminder to wear 33 ?

Question :- Has there ever been a panthers netminder to wear 33 ? According to Stef's lists on Amnesia Lane - Barry Spours - a backup nettie to Dave Graham in 1989-90.

In terms of Rasto in all honesty after Evan Lindsay he was always going to look better! And i think that clouded a lot of peoples views of him.
This year i have seen him a few times and he looked poor each time, in the sheffield game on sky each goal sheffield scored was up high and was made extremely easy for them (especially taits breakaway) and then at hull he messed up again.
I dont think he had it in him to be a league winning goalie. And i think its extremely hard for players to come to this country and get this league winning mentality which is why teams who keep more players usually do better! They know how important it is.
Goalie stats are usually a terrible way to judge them there are so many variables to draw from. I think everyone should just wait and see how he does.
