That could be too late still in my opinion, teams are already signing players for next season, players like other and perlini will be high on other teams list of targets. I'm disappointed it's not been done before the playoffs to atleast give the new coach a look at what we have, all's the new coach will have to work from is their cvs. Based on that we could end up with Phillips etc being resigned which would be disappointing.

Yep they’ve had more than enough time since that wonderful day when Neilson finally got sacked. Should have appointed a guy and brought him over for POFW so he can see what sort of quality Cardiff team he’s got to beat !
Although knowing Panthers he was probably signed weeks ago and they’re just waiting for a “bad news day” so they can bury something by announcing the new coach the same day. Unless he’s crap of course !!!!

If they'd rushed an appointment and got someone a bit meh, with the building society news following they'd now be getting pelters for being cheap etc. GM can sign any Brits that need signing, Pither's a decent player but it wouldn't be the end of the world if any of our imports didn't return.

They didn’t need the Buildng Society money to get a decent coach, that’s just extra pocket money for Panthers. Panthers need some proper quality hungry imports and a “Franchise player” to build a team around for a few years, one that will stay a while and produce night in night out like the likes of Joey Martin and Mathieu Roy do. Quite honestly, who was our standout import this year, the one every other team would have in a heartbeat, who you looked at every night and thought yeah he’s quality and never lets us down. Have we had one in say the last three years ? I don’t think so !

Well they were right in that he was signed by the org but thankfully (VERY thankfully) for the other team. I think that because of the GMB bit it couldn't be announced until after the playoffs but now all announcements will be under the BS headlines :-)

Have we had one in say the last three years ? I don’t think so ! No, exactly. So it doesn't really matter if we end up getting 14 new ones from the new guy's contacts this year. The only signing we can really cockerel up this year is Perlini. GM should be able to manage that.

In Panthers world an end of season home game against bloody Edinburgh is errr.....huge,MASSIVE even ! Panthers will spin anything ten times bigger than it really is. Even if it was £150k a year, that is not massive in the grand scheme of Panthers world. And you can bet it won’t get spent on players wages anyway. Panthers sponsors are just mugs. I’ve been there,I was a mug for several years and believe me,they will crap on you when they’ve had what they want out of you. All they want is your money to line their pockets rather than benefit the on ice product !

The Flying Shirt said it was a huge deal, presumably compared to the GMB deal, wasn't just Panthers saying it.

I’d say Pither is that player we have needed, it would be criminal if we don’t re-sign him and he ends up elsewhere in the league. 29 points in 22 games and he made Derlago a better player. I’d even take Derlago back as long as Pither is with him. Then sign a guy to compliment them two.

Don’t make me laugh. They could have blown the other EIHL teams away for the last however many years.....and didn’t ! 😂😂

Well Steelers who incidentally walked all over us this year have been so cheesed of with zero silverware that they have axed virtually all their imports. I wonder if we'd do that? Nope. No news! sheffieldsteelers.co.uk/steelers-statement-3/

Perhaps our new coach is under contract with another team until the end of a season or championships so we need to wait to announce it. Doesn't mean he isn't appointed and Panthers arn't working on things. I always prefer Panthers way of keeping a lid on things until it's a done deal or the time is appropriate (That doesn't include the drip feed nature of players signed months before).

Seems to be using "target" in the up-to-their-old-tricks-again sense, rather than in the sign him sense. Although it sounds like Thommo is a fan.
Wouldn't surprise me if they tried. If we're going to roll 2 imports next season (and can't can Mike), we should sign him up with or without the coach.

This was in reference to him stoning us cold when you beat us 3-2 at home. It meant target as in try and score past him on Saturday rather than sign him.

It's hard sometimes to say you do/don't want Moran involved in recruitment. Clearly the usual stance for the majority is keep him well away. However in many hockey organisations the GMs etc sign the players and the coaches coach what they are given. Granted the GMs usually know a fair bit more about hockey. Still, I feel GM will have an idea of the top 4/5 we should be looking to keep and will be dealing with it. Also if the new coach is already decided there is no reason the players wont be told who it is and that GM wont be talking to him about his thoughts on the current roster.
