I hope he doesn't stay. It is time for him to go, the last 2 year league campaigns have been stale to say the least

The guys got a habit of winning trophies and that cannot be under estimated. Getting a new coach may seem like the best way but they'll have to build and if they're new to the league/coaching not, it may take us even longer to win it again

Maybe, probably but I still think his time is over. Leave on a high. From that I'd say he's definitely staying. I've never really seen any desire from the hierarchy to move him on, even last year, and more importantly he doesn't seem to have any ambitions beyond being Panthers coach. Probably pretty well paid and I'm sure his family are settled after all this time.

Major coaching announcement ...that means there will be a change somewhere, we hear it could be Corey and possibly not Strachen for next season .

I could be wrong, but the Panthers style is only to do this when someone is re-signing. Corey to continue?

I have a feeling he'll go, by choice.

I have a feeling he'll go, by choice. If you listen to his interview on the EIHL website, he sounds like he wants to stay.

What's everyone's opinion on Strachen? Do people want him to stay or not? I don't know what to think peraonally ... I know we've had so many problems with the lines being messed around all season and not having a decent D for half the season but how much is this actually down to Rick?

I want Rick to stay,he is very under valued. Messing about with lines and having an inadequate D for half the season is nothing to do with Rick whatsoever !

Corey is definitely staying. Let's give him a 2 yr contract with 1 goal, win the league.

Personally I would have got rid last summer, but if he's staying lets go all in. I don't think 1yr contracts are suitable when we know exactly what we are getting.

Having slept on this and thought about it. as much as we're saying "well he's only won 1 league title" - yes he has, and yes it arguably should have been more like 3/4 by now, however if you had turned round to me when Corey came in as player coach and then Head coach and said to me, this bloke will win 1 league title, 7 Challenge Cups, and 4 playoff titles in the next 9 years i would have taken that with delight.
And as much as I've sat on the fence recently with pros and cons as to why he should stay or go there is no doubting the man brings success in the form of silverware, and if we are starting to moan because he can 'only' win the double and not the big one then that proves to me how lucky we have been.
like someone said before, we know what we're getting, and if he'd have won 5/6 more games per season for the last few years he'd be the greatest EIHL coach of all time, small margins and all that.
2 year contract as sometimes you dont quite know what you have until its gone
will also be a major blow if news of Strachan retiring are true

There is no doubt that when a Corey Neilson team plays, it can certainly play! But he struggles with consistency (season after season) during a campaign which is probably the most frustrating thing you can go though as a fan, especially when you know you have quality.. Agree about Strachan. If it is him that's off then he needs to be replaced, and replaced well because without him Corey becomes weaker and a weaker Corey who already has a few question marks over his head wouldn't be good going forward..

If only he learns by his mistakes, sticks with lines that work and other bizarre tactics and doesn't come across as so arrogant then I would love him to stay because you can't argue with his trophy haul.

Corey back; Moran to assist... Get Moran to freshen up the powerplay for starters! wouldn't be against this personally, let Corey sort the D and Moran the Forwards. assuming Moran is on a 2 year Uni deal might assisting, playing and completing university be too much?

Agree about the line changing - does my head in. having said that it worked for the final! Schultz - Lawrence - Clarke were especially good

OK, thinking about this for a while and it is obvious coaching is something Corey can do well most of the time. The problem is that most of the time does not win you the league title. He is a North American coach with North American system players and that kinda shows in the style of competition we play.
What I mean by that it is the short game competitions that we win more. The league just feels like a sideshow. Look at the NHL. It is the prime league but I can guarantee you that most hockey fans can name the last five Stanley Cup Champions but would struggle to tell you who won the league.
Largely they do not care as much about the league as they do the play offs and I feel that attitude seeps into any league with large amounts of North American participants.
So what does this mean through my eyes? Corey will play around throughout the season as the league is not the primary objective. It is a sandbox to mess around with his toys and then hit the short game competitions hard. He does that fairly well. It is kinda of the opposite issue that Belfast had a couple of seasons ago when they won the league but choked on the insatacup competitions.
Neilson has a place in Panthers history and has pulled of some impressive feats this season. We can debate injury cover and weak replacements all day long but he just took 66% of the trophies on offer in one of the most competitive fields we have seen in a while. I am a Corey critic but even I can not deny he has done really well. If he does sign again my biggest concern as already mentioned is his long game.
Yotes mentioned he could replace GM. It was not a rumour but a notion that actually would be interesting and maybe the start of something really special. Corey gets to stay in a City he settles in and then adds his recruiting power to whoever he brings in as coach. This to me would be the ultimate endgame solution but it may be a pipe dream never to be realised.
