Sounds like Caps had released him, and Steelers first to jump to get his signature. Agree with Shorty and Slade, it's the the D that needs shoring up more than anything.

Apparently he has gone off the boil of late, scoring just once in his last 10 games. Will probably light the flame again now he has joined the Steelers

Question....Some think Oakford is a young developing Brit, whilst Lachowicz is in his prime. They are both the same age. If you haven't really broke into the team at 25 then you probably will only ever be a bit part player. This summer could be quite interesting on the Brit front. At some point us in Sheffield are going to have to do something to make our's better. Next year you do have the option of bringing in an extra import and dropping Hewitt?

Why not 15 high quality imports (one spare) and just keep the best 5 Brits (including back-up nettie). Run with quality not quantity? ie drop 4 brits and use that cash to upgrade on imports and carry a spare from the off.

From all of the above I'm picking up that next year we should go for 14 imports (no spares) and that should be funded in part by releasing 1 brit, namely lacho. Thereby still having 8 brits.

It's 11+3 next year Yotes.
An interesting tweet just popped up - we have apparently been 83 imports below the allowed limit on games played so far this season (averaging over 2/game)- so next year should we be carry those extra spare imports at the expense of some of our current Brits?

Is that their 3rd spare import?

This year NB set out the Panthers stall by announcing we would be going with 13imports and 9Brits and run 4-line hockey. There was always going to be injuries, so personally i took '4-line hockey' statement with a pinch of salt but was happy to see great depth so that we didn't have to run with 11 out-skaters as we did on occasions in 2014/15. We obviously started 1 Import short, and have suffered injuries (as all teams have) but I think we have always put out at least 15 skaters (correct me if i'm wrong).
Now, this thread is not so much about this year - except in a comparative manor.
For 2016/17 the import level is set to increase again, to 14. There will be a budget. With that budget, should we ... a) keep 9 Brits, and spread the rest of the budget over 14 imports? b) reduce the no of Brits (By how many, and who), to give a bigger budget to get better imports? c) reduce the no of Brits (By how many, and who), to enable a spare import to be brought in early in the season? d) some other variation?

I guess it depends what he's like in the dressing room, Danny Meyers was widely considered a good captain due to his attitude in the dressing room. We should see what Iginla says because no doubt half the team has confided in him about it...., The year he was dropped we won the league with a FAR better captain. Didn't Fox follow Meyers ... then came Clarke.

They have the game tapes then why are the refs not reviewed? And if they are why are there obviously no sanctions? Why can't the EIHL afford more refs than can actually do the job? Why in our conference at least are we not using the 2 ref system? Supposedly aren't the coaches scoring/rating the refs' performances for feedback this year? The 2-ref system was supposedly going to superseded by refs being able to have video review this season. But then they discovered it wasn't going to be possible at each facility, so the chucked/postponed that idea.

Is Evan Mosey the best "unknown" signing Corey has made in his time at Panthers? He did well on a poor Panthers side last year but is still excelling in all areas of his game this year. Matt Francis was another exceptional find.

Good win and sounds like a well rounded team effort. What's changed? Hardy gassed? Ollie back? Prospect of Moran and Schultz returning? .... or playing bottom of the league, compared to top of the league previous night?

I thought we had to start a new U20s league this season though to participate? Its taken a little while for me to find this notice from earlier this year ... www.icehockeyuk.co.uk/files/IHUK_U20_National_League_Meeting_May_2_2.pdfIHUK U20 National League Further to my intimation on 1st December 2014 and General Secretary’s intimation of 17th March regarding IHUK U20 National League and the EIHA announcing their change in age groups they have confused Clubs and Players of the reason why IHUK must have an U20 National League up and running during season 2015/16. IIHF in 2013 intimated to IHUK that they did not comply with IIHF Bylaw 402 regarding “Minimum Participation” that we did not have an U20 League currently in operation throughout the UK, and therefore no corresponding online league schedule or statistics. Since 2013 IHUK have been actively attempting to introduce an U20 League to no avail, now the time has come that we must comply without any prevarication. It is not acceptable to IIHF for compliance of Bylaw 402, for a Home Nations Governing Body (HNGB) which are EIHA, SIHA-UK and NIIH or the professional League EIHL to submit an U20 National League for compliance to allow GB U20 to be entered into World Championships, the league must be run and administered by the National Governing Body that is recognised by IIHF which is IHUK. What will happen if we do not comply? IHUK will not be allowed to enter a GB U20 Team in World Championships, a Team that has just won Gold in Estonia in December, IHUK will not be able to bid to bring the U20 World Championships to the UK in December 2015 – this will not only have a profound effect on the GB Development programme it will reduce revenues available to IHUK and its status within IIHF, BOA and UK Sport. IHUK would also have to consider if it continued with the GB U18 development programme and enter the Team into World Championships as there would be a tremendous gap between U18 and the Senior Team. This would also be a disservice to Players and Parents who are members of your Clubs and Associations. GB Teams are currently going through their most successful season since 2009 when four teams won medals, Senior Men – Bronze in Poland, U20 – Silver in Spain, U18 – Gold in Estonia and the Women – Bronze in Italy. Currently we have had the U20 – Gold in Estonia, U18 – Bronze in Estonia and Women – Silver in Dumfries with the Senior Men still competing in Eindhoven, we also have had GB Prospects Team beat the Romanian National Team in Fife, who is now competing in their World Championships in Iceland – Do you want to throw all this away?

To me, Wiikman has, right from the start, been pretty decent in stopping the first shot but has always given up rebounds. The D were especially good in getting their sticks in and clearing out those pucks initially ... but now not so.

Dundee top the Stats with 88 goals scored in 21 games. We are not so far behind with 80 goals scored in 20games. Defensively Stars are not doing so well with 86 goals conceded versus 50 for us.
We need to keep this tight at the back, and our forwards should be able to do their job up front.

On the GM interview he's says he went to Coventry to do a degree so does that follow if Panthers had offered a uni place then he would have resigned? ? It does come over that way doesn't it ... assuming the course he wanted was available at Loughborough. You'd reckon as well given he is studying at Coventry we wouldn't have to splash much cash as Nottingham would be the next best location for him to earn a wage and continue his studies.
