Full quote of imports plus 2 spare out skaters, 1d 1f. 5 top quality Brits, plus lacho if he wants to be here. 3 net minders, 2 imports and 1 Brit. This is the minimum required It's ok to keep saying we are the biggest and best club in the UK with the best fans, well let's go and sign a squad which shows it. 6/7 Brits + 17imports? Personally, I think I would go with better quality than that amount of depth.

Out of interest, I've just pulled this from NHL Rulebook - www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/rules/2015-2016-Interactive-rulebook.pdfRule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head 48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted. In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall be considered: (i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the body upward or outward. (ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable. (iii) Whether the opponent materially changed the position of his body or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way that significantly contributed to the head contact. 48.2 Minor Penalty – For violation of this rule, a minor penalty shall be assessed. 48.3 Major Penalty – There is no provision for a major penalty for this rule. 48.4 Game Misconduct Penalty – There is no provision for a game misconduct for this rule. 48.5 Match Penalty – The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent with an illegal check to the head. If deemed appropriate, supplementary discipline can be applied by the Commissioner at his discretion. It doesn't seem like the nhl apply huge bans as a norm, which i find surprising.

As a couple of others above, i tend to see it more as he had to go back home, and Brampton are the beneficiaries of having him knocking on their door as opposed to them chasing him waving the dollars.

Looks like these days you can do pretty much what you like as a player and it's only a one match ban, because any more than one game and they know it will get appealed and be successful because of stupid earlier precedents set....joke Dops. The Clan fans have gone very quiet too all of a sudden, now they've seen Mcivers hit ! I'm not a fan, personally, of the huge bans that were previously given out, but the hits to the head do have to be discouraged with penalties greater than a 1 match ban. For this year the precedents have been set, but i hope for next year Simon Kirkham will review this year as a whole and establish some better guidelines for the Department of Player Safety to work to.

We're recording the #AskTCW Podcast tomorrow night. Does anyone have any hockey related questions you would like us to discuss on the show? Did the TCW's unanimous decision to vote Ling as the dirtiest player in the league contribute to him leaving? #IsItAllYourFault? I jest!

Due to family matters David Ling is returning to North America. The 41-year-old forward broke the news to his teammates of his decision in the locker room after the game in Dundee on Sunday night.
In an emotional interview on Panthers Radio (with Xynomix) the popular forward who had four big assists in Saturday’s win over Braehead and two goals in Dundee, could barely get the words out.
David has asked us to pass on his thanks to the fans and says he believes and hopes this year’s Panthers can lift silverware “if only to make me feel better”.
He talks of never having quit anything in his life, he says his dad will be rolling in his grave but he has to ‘put the children first’.
He told us: “I don’t feel right but I have to do this as a dad.”
The club wishes him well and understands that he needs to be closer to home at this time.
David was part of the Grand Slam winning team three seasons ago and although in the veteran category these days has shown he still has the talent and flare to light up any game.
Head coach Corey Neilson was already checking the recruitment market with the deadline looming and has widened his search in the light of the loss of David.

Eddy with a cheap glove shot. Also potentially 3rd man. Not even a 2min minor. Nothing of any significance imo.

Certainly a greater communicator, would he be able to fulfill a captains role, as per keefe in Belfast, or do you think his hockey ability that seemingly affects his ice-time leave him off the ice too long to be an effective leader on it?

The Elite League should have published some of this detail after the board meeting. What they did us tell after the board mtg might have been pretty interesting, but this is important, particularly as they had previously published a different progression route through the semi's. All of this could have been avoided if they had.
Also i'm pretty sure Simmsey would have been at that board mtg - and that is where he should have, could have, would have, had the opportunity to raise his concerns.
Lighting the touch-paper in the world of social media has ended up inciting Steelers fans to slag off Panthers and vice versa. All avoidable. ...I do wonder, though, was this exactly what he is looking to achieve?

Finnerty did the same whilst coaching steelers. in that one I think they'd lost 4-2 to Dundee so he had the scoreboard set to 0-2. iirc, that was at ice Sheffield, and during the warm up they were shooting pucks down the ice towards the stars nettie to intimidate them .. and I believe it worked. Im sure Mozzy will remember that better than me.

BLAZE APPEAL TANAKA PENALTY
on: January 21, 2016
Coventry Blaze have appealed the suspension handed to their forward Cale Tanaka by the Department of Player Safety.
Tanaka was suspended for three matches by DOPS for a High Sticking penalty in his side’s game at Braehead Clan last weekend.
Tanaka will miss one game – Coventry’s trip Belfast Giants on Friday night – which is the automatic minimum tariff after receiving a match penalty.
But under the rules of an appeal, Tanaka is free to play after that until the hearing is held.
The Department of Player Safety will confirm the date of the hearing in due course.

Koenig to replace Lakosil as Dundee's goalie
Published: 20/01/2016 at 21:00
Dundee CCS Stars' bench leader Marc LeFebvre has added veteran goalie Trevor Koenig to the team's roster after Vlastimil Lakosil returned to the Czech Republic on personal business.
Coach LeFebvre takes up the story "A couple of weeks back Vlastimil came to speak to me about business he needed to deal with back home in the Czech Republic. Vlastimil went about the process impeccably. He has certainly been very professional in the way he has dealt with the situation. He offered to play until we got a replacement, putting the locker room and the fans first. I am certainly grateful for his body of work and the upbeat spirit that he brought to the rink. We wish him all the best in the future."
Marc continued "We had a choice of goalies to bring in however when Trevor's name came up we considered him the ideal replacement. Trevor will bring a presence and Elite League experience to the locker room. He knows the league and we expect him to quickly adapt to life at the Dundee Ice Arena." He added "Trevor will be ready to go on Saturday and he will make his home debut on Sunday when Sheffield come up here. Trevor will add additional leadership to our defensive unit."

]A major flaw with this year against the league winning year happened right at the start. The league winning year CN made the brave move of cutting Danny who was by then past his best and that freed up finances but this year went completely the other way and loaded up with Brits and tied his own hands behind his back from day one.[/quote]
It was Neil Black who announced (at last years Play-offs I believe) that we (and Clan) would be going with 9 Brits this year ... way before CN was re-signed. So, if you like, NB tied CNs hands to a large degree in this respect.
