Would be surprised if he would have been offered another season to be honest with you, 1 good season out of 3 wasn’t exactly dynamic.

Devils to announce their new head coach tomorrow, he is new to the league. Apparently 70 odd people applied for the post, and the owners are well pleased with the outcome stressing they have the man to replace Lordo.

Sounds like this place, albeit with even more odd people. Strange job go take on now, considering nothing is happening for the next 3-4 months at best.

Well let’s hope he’s better than all the other “new to the league” coaches. Rich Chernomaz....disaster Tom Barrasso....disaster Paul Gardner....disaster John Tripp....disaster Doug McKay.....disaster

Never heard of this guy lol Seems a very good appointment to me, as expected for such a well run org. Well, apart from the SM people maybe.

Difficult to judge with coaches. Recent CV involves a good standard, but who knows, we've seen that sort of thing before.
Sounds like Cardiff have done a thorough interview process to select him though so they must be confident they've got the right guy.
Find out next year.

Never heard of this guy lol Seriously? Huge playing and coaching career in NA and Europe. Last time I saw him play he was Patrik Wallenberg’s centre at Leksands. He’s been a pretty high level coach since then.

Skalde hasn't won a thing in his coaching career at any level, his recruitment skills appear to be the attraction. Seems strange Kelman and the owners would go for a guy with no EIHL experience, big step down from the AHL, if he's the best of 70 applicants......?

Find it strange he was assistant coach in the AHL, potentially on the cusp of being considered for next HC. surely they would send him to their east coast team for the experience which tells me his ceiling isn't very high and have obviously decided to let him go.. like ive said before there's a reason coaches/players end up coming here..

They like a sensational press release though, well known for it (Osaer... Still laughing at that today). So don't be surprised by their trumpeting, especially those in power who really should know better, par for the course.

There’s a lot of fishing going off on here!
I’ll be honest, Skalde is a very impressive pickup and I’d be very pleased if we recruited him to be Nottingham’s coach. The contacts he will undoubtedly have, combined with the league experience of Kelman, unfortunately, I think he’ll be successful.
