There’s a lot of fishing going off on here! I’ll be honest, Skalde is a very impressive pickup and I’d be very pleased if we recruited him to be Nottingham’s coach. The contacts he will undoubtedly have, combined with the league experience of Kelman, unfortunately, I think he’ll be successful. Imagine if he gets an even higher budget as well.... The mind boggles. What will Sheff do to compete?

Devils to announce their new head coach tomorrow, he is new to the league. Apparently 70 odd people applied for the post, and the owners are well pleased with the outcome stressing they have the man to replace Lordo. Well let’s hope he’s better than all the other “new to the league” coaches. Rich Chernomaz....disaster Tom Barrasso....disaster Paul Gardner....disaster John Tripp....disaster Doug McKay.....disaster You missed Aaron Fox off that list. One assumes because he didn’t fit the point you were making?

Paul Gardner is a bit harsh too. Conference title is hardly a disaster?

Paul Gardner is a bit harsh too. Conference title is hardly a disaster? Give over....a Scottish conference title is no great achievement whatsoever,it’s just a Mickey Mouse title given to also rans so they have a shiny teapot to play for. The only coaches I can think of who came in new and had any success without buying it were Chuck Weber and Ben Simon.

Paul Gardner is a bit harsh too. Conference title is hardly a disaster? Considering they finished 8th and he didn't get his contract renewed due to poor performances, I'd say it was a disaster as far as Braehead were concerned.

The team were 2-10 in their last 12 when he took over, I believe. You can’t make a silk purse etc. He has had a few teams though, which does make you wonder a bit.

It's also possible to be a great coach one place and terrible the next. All those "intangibles" and whether coaches "fit" with the league, management. It's why fawning over a coach because of his pedigree is risky, much the same as writing him off.
For what it's worth there doesn't look anything wrong with the new Devils coach and he should have resources to do a job, but this management group have never worked with anyone other than Lord, it's a big step into the unknown.

So Sheffield (Elite) won't be playing but Sheffield (*see other) will?

So Sheffield (Elite) won't be playing but Sheffield (*see other) will? It's more of an if or when they get back underway signing for Steeldogs. This is Ben's decision to stay where he is at home and not search for Hockey overseas I guess? He has experience of playing abroad so making a decision that's right for him and family I would assume. I may or may not be correct in thinking he has been getting involved in some insurance brokering recently(as so many Hockey players do) so may have a steady reliable income currently and no need to rock the boat by going on another Euro adventure while he has a family in the UK.

What’s the German words for frustrating and enigmatic? Got that right. Like so many in our league, past and recent past, if they played to their potential all the time they would be in a higher league.

Was a good player at Fife, seemed to go asleep after that. Was a time would have liked him at Cardiff.

What’s the German words for frustrating and enigmatic? A classic case of a player who puts up points in a lesser team when he’s top dog getting lots of minutes, but put him in a bigger team with less ice time and they don’t cut it. He’s not the first and won’t be the last to do that.

he teams up with the wonderfully named Parker Bowles ! If his nickname isn't Camilla, they have seriously missed a trick
