My post was clear in stating that "most" of what gets yelled just isn't heard. Naturally some calls do hit the target but very few. In terms of influencing a player or a game even fewer still. As I've said though - knock yourself out and scream away. As long as its not offensive or abusive then good luck to you. It's your couple of hours and your £15. aye no matter what you shout its very unlikely to be heard not just because of the plexi blocking it out but also because the player is cocncentrating on what he is doing, when i play i never hear anything that isn't said from the bench or from a player or ref on the ice, not even the music between plays usually unless i'm on the bench I agree. If I decide to listen you can hear quite well unless they are hard up against the glass; but mostly you are just aware of a 'din'

Nothing sensitive about that reply at all mate. Was simply pointing out that I don't think there would be a problem if they were being realistic in their demands; and then not being so aggressive with their threats. I don't begrudge them their business, but at the detriment to the rest of the league? No chance. And what you forget is that Sky are not paying a single penny for this TV production, they are in-fact getting paid. All Sky are doing is allowing their air time to be bought for this to be shown. This ENTIRE venture is being paid for by the Elite league. Paying the full cost of production and buying the air time, no Sky money involved. Sky wil not put money in to something they are not interested in, the tried once and it didn't work, they won't bother again until it had proved worth while. What they will do though is aloow people to buy airtime. I could get doing my washing televised had I the money. The league have tok a gamble here and are waging a fair amount of money, for that they should be roundly applauded and supported; not held to ransom by people seeking to gain more than is on offer to everyone else. The compensation package offered to the clubs has been split betwen all equally, many will lose out (As we both did last week) but the long term benefit oculd be significant. Why should they get more for doing nothing more than the rest? They had their go at TV and it was miserable... Its simple then NEM , just film at the NONE Planet ice venue's , the veiwers will get to see all teams play but just not at Planet ice venue's . Their loss not the Elite league . exactly what I would do mate...

Nobody is disputing the fact they may have a claim to something Paul. It is what they are asking and the way they are going about it that is the problem. Again Nem take off your sensitive head. If sky wanted to come film in your house, would you not go for the best deal possible for you. When a premiership football game is shown live on SKY the club get £1.4M for costs and lost revenue. PI want whats best for them, probably the same deal they are getting for the masters football maybe? Nothing sensitive about that reply at all mate. Was simply pointing out that I don't think there would be a problem if they were being realistic in their demands; and then not being so aggressive with their threats. Well said. Bar the odd discrepancy..... I think the league has to show it's balls here. Could get nasty this, I pity those beholden to PI for their hockey. I don't for one minute dispute their entitlement to make money, but I can't help feeling this is sour grapes after their own TV aspirations came to nought.

EIHL clubs should (however unrealistic it seems) look for other venues. The EIHL itslef should be looking long and hard about allowing teams playing from a PI join the league in the future... thats of course assuming all the above is true Well said Ted. We must remember that at the moment this is speculation and we don't know the inns and outs. Something is going on though, judging by the post on ours last night by our office...

PI's apparent end game is their own leaguein their own rinks, = total control...
Not good.

I asked about that Jonoand can shed a little light. Prior to face off the cameras all pick up a set 'target' round back the team look at these targetsand decide if they are happy. If not, another target is selected and looked at; once the producer is happy he has all the best shots covered, he lets the game go able to move from shot to shot already knowing he has every angle he needs wherever the re-start goes. The blood I don't know, this too could have been edited out IMO after they had cleared it. I would say though that the players seemed to have been informed this is what would happen as none made a fuss. I thought the coverage was decent and should get better. That's if PI don't get their way and bring the deal down as they are trying to do by banning filming in all their rinks + the PI in disguise rinks like Manchester. This is the reason you are on again instead of the advertised Manc game. Why oh why do petty agendas always have to try to pull this sport apart? This is the biggest step forward publicity wise in recent years and from the off PI are trying to stop it? What on earth is their problem?

Sky rarely have anthems for non-national events. This used to happen when we were last on Sky.
I do agree though, editing it out would be a better option. That is certainly what they used to do.

Edited.
Sorry folks, got a bit confused there!
After reading comments about our attendance I assumed this was a Steelers game thread and so posted a game report, only to realise it is actualy supposed to be a Panthers thread...
Congrats on the win BTW. Gonna be tight this year me thinks.

I am told it is on acount of not being able to properly police the exit/re-entry.
Funny! They have managed right enough these last 2 years......
It's not just you, we (Staff) are also banned form leaving during events.
Don't make sense to me mate.

As for the "fans" in the hot tub - they were all women. Any player who reacted badly to a bit of a splash from women in bikinis would need his head examining, no matter how stupid the women's actions were. Sorry but that's rubbish. If that had happened in Nottingham to Steelers players, the Steel Bleat forum would be in meltdown by now. Undoubtedly true mate. As is always the way, things that are trivial and insignificant in victory, become major incidents in defeat. Happens in every single sport, on every single forum and in every single fan base. That is not to excuse their actions in any way BTW. Stupid by any measure.

Far better than last year. Fast, gritty, goals, fights, the lot.
Losing always tempers objective reviewing, as does winning, so I suppose the truth will be somwhere in the middle.
I do, as I said agree with the turn out bit. Making a point of them asking people to move though is mute, they always do it, they used to last time we had 'proper' tv coverage, they do it at basketball too.

I'm afraid I dont agree with any of that. Apart from the turn out and score board bit. The bottle incident I didn't see.
And a point of note, Sky don't allow anthems for nationaly covered sports, never have. The only thing I would say, is that they usualy edit it out rather than stop it happening at all.
I thought it was a great game for TV, a view backed up by the fact the production crew a very happy with what they got...

I was wondering the exact same thing after that goal mate. Seems the way to play him is to wait him out and let him make a move first, then skate around him. As we saw last year, if you go first, his reactions are far to good...

Fight link to Shymr - Corny.
Are links to such allowed?
Not as one sided as it appears, what you can't quite see is your man giving every bit as good as he is getting.

No embarrassment in that display. Your problems were your D could not cope with our speed, and once ours worked out what your forwards were up to you had no plan B.
The first was close, maybe even edge to you. After that we sussed you and simply and effectively cancelled it out. I have to be honest and admit to being surprised that you just kept on and on and on with the same trick over and over.
Fights.
Munn - McAslan, Munn Corny - Shymr, Solid draw and a good toe to toe effort.
Great to see so many of you come up, midweek through roadworks and the like; thank you.
When and if you start playing as a team, you will be dangerous. There is without doubt abundant talent up front, they just aren't clicking, tonight at least. Corry is a totally different player to last year and by far your best D man tonight.
Unlucky folks, great game and nothing to be embarrassed about.

I don't think the actual food is too bad at ours, I just think it is drastically overpriced!
I think your food is about on par with ours, priced only marginally better.
They used to do chicken and chips at ours ours for £3, about right IMO and I do know they used to sell out! They now want £6 for the same and hardly anyone bothers. If we missed tea before going to work we used to just get some clucker and chips, I ain't payin them prices now though!
Ice Shuff don't do bad with food, no much choice but what you do get is always good and at a reasonable price.
Best chips has to be Hull, or at least was, haven't had any in a while...
