What happened to all the money from BMI Baby? Surely that could be used to pay for some more coaching for the current refs and to encourage new ones...? I doubt it. The BMI Baby money is sponsorship purely for the EIHL. The refs come under the jurisdiction of the EIHA, I believe. And yes - I know it would make sense to 'contribute' money towards the officials, but with all the politics in this sport... anyone who forks out money is likely to want some control, or the EIHA could see such contributions as trying to take control away from them... etc etc. The usual mess, in other words. I agree with that. Most, if not all the BMI money has been spent on the new TV show. The league are paying ofor the lot, including the airtime to show it.

Not gonna say owt about us, I appreciate non of you gives a rats..... Just thought I would post a little about your own Nick Whyatt. He looked very steady tonight and played a solid enough game IMO. Worked hard and took a couple of face-offs. Looked very assured at the top level and I think will acquit himself very well. Nice one fella. Oh........this does however mean you are now ineligible for any future HOSNIC events. Cant's be having any ringers in the sides now can we!

Thanks for transpossing my comments on to your forum - nice to see you redeeming yourself somewhat AFTER my comment. Did you miss this in the original post then? And the further comments couldn't have been posted earlier as the text arrived only 5 minutes ago... And I don't think I have quoted or moved any of your comments on to any other forum?

Back on topic, 3 wins in 4 days, a 7 hour coach ride, lousy officiating biased towards the French teams. My opinion is, they've done very well. And TBH Mark I agree, as you will find the rest of my post on ours says. From what I can gather it was some of the worst officiating my mate had ever seen, so much so one team went home! Any win against the French has to be applauded, especialy in the light of such bias.

But Shaggy hasn't seen our team play this year either, yet. A worry maybe, but until we find out what happened in that game why all the concern, ME says its the performance not the result that counts at the moment, I understand your comments and have no wish to debate the smallest of details at this early stage, may the best team win this year I know mate. I was reffering to his comments about us; another team he has yet to see. The point is, as far as I can see, Shaggy's comments are related to someone elses experience of watching us, he is relaying someone elses opinion; as am I about you.

You guy's kill me......no honestly, you do.... What's good for the goose.... Only reporting total speculation and personal oppinion, from a Panthers fan who is there. As are you You might want to check This thread out. perhaps NEM, leave your comments about the Panthers until you have seen this year's team play hey I have expressed the opinion of one of your own who was/is there. Much as Shaggy has expressed the opinion of one of ours who has seen our games. I am struggling to see the difference, maybe someone could point it out. More so I posted on OUR forum and yet it gets dragged over here? Mark. Not the point and you know it. Edited to add. I am quoting Shaggy and Tim as examples to back up my point only and am in no way trying to ellicit a response from either. I don't agree, but have no problem with either post; posted as they are on YOUR forum.

Your talking garbage again Nem I was at your game last night and know what I saw, after your first lines wheres your goals coming from? explain then how could a team win a 3rd peiod 4 nil if the age of their players would come into play, If you knew the real reason why we won 5-4 then you may not make silly assumptions And of course you can be relied on for a totally objective, unbiased view of a game eh mate? My comments were posted and a Steelers forum for a Steelers audience. Shaggy and Tim's comments on here would be considered inflammatory were they posted on ours, hence why I posted on Steeltalk not here. One of yours has decided to bring the argument over here in total contradiction of the supposed 'live and let live' attitude toward other teams forums. As the post I have linked to suggests. If you think you may not like what is written on OTHER teams forums, don't read it! And definitely don't start transposing arguments from one place to another. It doesn't take the brains of Einstein to work out you are hardly going to get a Panther friendly opinion on a Steelers forum now does it? If I had posted the comments from my mate, a Panthers fan, on here then you would have a point. But in this case you don't. Am I picking Shaggy and Tim to bits about their posts on here? No, this is your board and no more than I would expect. Have I dragged their comments over on ours? No, they posted on your forum for your audience, as is their right. I don't agree with your posts on us, you wouldn't expect me too. You don't agree with my (And one of your own) posts about you, I wouldn't expect you too any more. No-body is right, no-body is wrong, it's opinion expressed in the context and company of a favorable audience. As it should be on OUR forum as yours is on here.

Well according to our mate 'Mr Im In the Know Nemesis - the age of the panthers players began to show because we were 4 zip up but were unable to hold on to it and that apparently is a concern. Don't you just love these guys who know so much before the season even starts yeah Ive just said how come we won 6-3 on friday when we were 3-2 down after 2 periods. see what he says to that You guy's kill me......no honestly, you do.... steelers first line was alright the rest were poor to **** Interesting. After reading the Cage and chatting to people on MSN last night, that's the view from:- - a Panthers fan - a Phoenix fan - a Steelers fan Not often you're going to find all three agreeing, so they must have a point! What's good for the goose.... Only reporting total speculation and personal oppinion, from a Panthers fan who is there. As are you You might want to check This thread out.

Haven't read the whole thread, but agree with some who are a tad concerned by this signing.
Jim has by far the worst reputation for dressing room unrest of any player I can remember. I know Ellis is supposed to be good with the antagonists, but Willy is a tough as they come and he couldn't handle this guy...
If Elli does owt with him and keeps a grip on him then fair play to the lad. My own oppinion is that Jimbo will not be a Panther come playoff time...
Pity, cos he aint a bad grafter but his rep preceeds him and it would seem he gets off on it.

It is as Kev describes. No fight strap. A bit of a collectors piece with the mis-numbering... No bids on that one yet either so you could walk away with a real bargain. The others have bids but as yet are way below a true value, so again a chance of a bargain.

Guys.
We have some HOSNIC programmes left, they are a good read I think and are a momento of a great day.
We are in danger of losing money on these unless we shift a few more so here is what we are going to do.
I am going to number the remainder and sell them at face value £2, this, as it did today will include a 'lucky programme' entry the prize for which is a pair of cinema tickets.
You can collect it at the first home game, or it can be posted. I will draw a number and there we go.
Who's in? Even if you have one, here is another chance to win a prize...

I can confirm that the overall total, taking in to account all the money people raised on their own behalf for various causes is around £7K.
Money raised on the day for the HOSNIC cause, less a big loss on the programmes is around £2K.

Thanx Rob. I don't entirely disagree with what you are saying LOR mate, but as we are quoting quotes here's another one for you. "You can please some of the people some of the time...." I think we all know the rest. At one point I had 13 reserves on my list, some of whom went on to play for you guys as you were short. As Rob says we were inundated. I think the thing that sticks out to me from both last year and this is that we (Sheffield) seem to have picked up on the idea that this thing is open to everyone even if you have never played before; again this year we had players who have only taken up the sport in order to have a go at this. That is another reason we did it, to bring people in to give it a go. In Nottingham the prevailing thought appears to me to be that you have to be playing already to give it a go, this IMO leads to us being way oversubscribed and you short. Last year this 'Let's give it a go' attitude showed markedly as we were soundly thumped being made up of mostly first timers and beginners, this year again we had way too many to play everyone but it also meant I had a wealth of talent to choose from. Some people were turned down, I had 3 of the current Scims wanting to play along with 15 or so Spartans and Stallions; Gav Farrand was also interested at one point. The benches were limited and the games short to fit the ice time we were given, to have run bigger benches would have reduced the ice time per player to too short a time. If only half the teams who have expressed interest turn out next year we are looking at a weekend thing not just a day, this is fast becoming a big thing around the leagues as fans get in touch with us interested in having a go, and excited by the propect of being able to 'live the dream' by playing for their team. I have even been contacted by a couple of owners asking if they can enter fans teams next year using full names and logos. With planning this could be the fans tournemant, what better way to get people in to the game than offering them the chance to play as a Steeler/Panther/Racer/Eagle/Bee etc. We seem to have started something here and people are jumping at it. The futures bright - the futures HOSNIC.

Sorry Lord of the Rinks you've lost me. Can you explain what you mean by your last sentence - thanks What I was getting at, is the standard of some of the players. The Rink Rush game WAS players of about the same standard, most playing for the Ice Tigers. This one was, lets say, hand picked for a purpose. Players of a higher standard than Rec hockey, nearer EPL standard were asked if they would play. The scores in the previous games give you a hint, 5-8, 3-9, 10-0. If Sheffield had won the Hosnic cup, we would not have heard a thing about the gulf in the standard of the players, but as it was first raised on Steeltalk and to suggest that it was Nottingham who had an unfair advantage is a bit rich. I will finish this with "Old habits die hard". Sorry but that is rubbish. Over half the Sheffield RR team myself included had never played before or had only just started and some haven't played since. We were totaly outclassed by a team selected from established players bar the odd exception and it showed. (Not that there is anything wrong with that BTW, it's just how it turned out, the first timers jumped at the chance to play and got picked before the better players) The ctriteria set out and agreed to by Jono and myself was that the advanced game was to be for the, and I quote, "Best players we can find" What is wrong with that? The intermediates was just as one sided but that was purely down to circumstance and nothing Jono or I could have done either way other than telling the lasses thay can't play, or me picking a better team and thereby precluding others, do they not desreve the same chance to play as the rest? Equally, do the better players not also desreve that chance? There was after all one player out there who gets paid to play, and he wasn't on the Shefield side... No, everything went to plan IMO and we both knew what was going on at every stage, BOTH squads were known to and agreed by BOTH Jono and myself. Next year we are looking at expanding the number of games to try and further match the teams, but the advanced game will by deffinition always be "Advanced" and therby open to anyone who expresses an interest. Had the training took place as planned I am sure we could have tweaked it a bit, but again, circumstance stepped in. We would both have loved all the games to have been as matched as the first, but I doubt that wil ever happen.

The beginners game was a perfect match up IMO, we worked hard to make it so. The tightest game of the day would suport that. I think the comments on ours are more tongue in cheek than 'debate'
Even given the netminding situation, the game remained close which is a credit to all 3 of them on the day.

Please lets try not cocentrate too much on the one down side of the day.
Jono, Mary, Helen and myself have the situation in hand and have/are in contact with all parties.
A great day I hope. I too am disapointed by the turn out however having just counted the entrance money there was in-fact very nearly 600 through the door through the day. I guess people came and wached their people and then some left.
The HOSNIC Steelers signed shirt is as yet unclaimed. I wil post the winning ticket info tomorrow.
It looks like we have made a couple of grand on the day with peoples own sponsorship for various causes on top.
Thanx to everyone who played, helped, chiped in or attended. It is a day I will remember for ever, it is the day I played as a Steeler...
