I think the tournie is a good idea, my main gripe being that it is being played on a SUNDAY not a Saturday. Yes it is fine for most of the Steeler & Panther fans, but those that live further away and /or reliable on public transport will struggle to make it back home at a reasonable hour. There will barely be a train operating when the event finishes for instance.
I will probably go, but I will be working in London then, so will have to book the monday morning off work, and that Sunday night I will have to kip on someones floor in Nottm!
Cheers Elite League!!

I thought Carson improved slightly last season compared to previous seasons and wasn't so bias towards the Squeelers.

unfortunately no edinburgh double header though, will have to decide which edinburgh away game to make the trip up for.

maybe they will do kids for a quid or something similar to build up an atmosphere for the game, otherwise it might be a lowly attended game.

send them a request Lee.
Will be pretty chilly in Edinburgh in early December..
I am hoping their will be a double header in Belfast as well as one in Edinburgh. End of September will do me fine, well for either.
Anyone know when the fixtures will be released. Down to 5 weeks till the new season.

Let's hope for a Forest/Panthers win double today. I am watching Forest v Derby in town, then making my way to Coventry. I am fearing the worst though, but Coventry are definetly beatable at their own rink. Belfast beat them a month or so back, and we usually run them close. Just hoping we keep our concentration for all 3 periods for a change!
FAO statto's: How many games is it since Panthers last won at Coventry's rink?
FAO gamblers: Blaze are 1.9 to beat the Panthers with bet365. This looks a decent price given Panther's record at Coventry, with maybe a stake saver on the draw. Not sure whether to go with it or not, it would be the first time I have had a bet on the panthers losing. I am on Forest v Derby to be a draw.

This has done the rounds before. There are groups of people who want to chant, but are in different blocks so it is hard to get the chants going, and continuing for very long. I like the individual players chants but these are rarely heard at panthers home games. Mind you I can't hear what Blocks 4/5 are chanting from Block 11, so can you chant louder please!
Away support is always going to be better, as there are a lot more people congregated together so ot is going to sound a lot louder. Games like away to Hull seem more like a home game, cos of the noise levels from the Panthers fans, and you can hardly hear the Stingray fans sing.
Hopefully more people wil be chanting for the Manchester game, and I am sure the away support at Cov on Sunday will be great, and we can drown out the home fans.

Cup game. (perhaps admin should add that on the title thread to make it clear to all)
Decided to go down, as Panthers should be back to full strength. Us and Cov should both really be qualifying out of this group, though the Devils will be challenging too.
Panthers usually beat Cov at home, say hopefully panthers can get back to winning ways. If Clarkey is back, I predict 4-3 to the Panthers.

Just watched the clip. Yeah good exposure for the sport. Was a much longer piece than I was expecting. Running the Gauntlet - ouchhhh, bet that hurt him really.

" I looked up at the scoreboard and saw we were losing 5-2, if we lose this game we ll be out of the championship" ;D ;D did he really say that - lol Wonder if he knew the rules like, they could have given him a 30 second try out or something during their defeat to belfast. Did they just have him on the bench for the exposure on blue peter, to try and ermm strengthen their fan base, through a few more kids becoming interested after seeing Sharp in a steelers shirt?

Keep up the good work, "the cats whiskers" makes a great read.
Talking about taking advantage of a club when it's down: gotta be the steelers and their poaching, sorry signing of Brad.

We may have had more shots but many of them were wayward and/or off target. Pheonix killed us off in the first period, panthers never looked like getting back into it. Ok so panthers were slightly the better team in the 2nd which finished goalless, but that was it! We lost the other two periods, and not even sure if our only goal went in!
Everyone has been under estimating the pheonix (including bookies - wish I had a naughty fiver on them last night, then I could have afforded more than a couple of £3.50 stella's.) I wasn't aware that the NIC wasn't going on a refurbishment. I am a member as well, though admit I do't read all the e-mails/info they send me.
Manchester have 3 games in hand on us / belfast. They are 3 behind panthers, so take points per game and pheonix are ahead of us. Pheonix are definetly in the hunt for the title. It is still early days, but looks like a very tight season with the top 5 sides evenly matched and will take plenty of points from each other. Panthers can't really afford to drop any points from the bottom 5 teams home or away if they want to win the title, which means today's game is vital in coming away with the 2 points.
Team Name Av pts per game Belfast Giants 1.67 Manchester Phoenix 1.67 Coventry Blaze 1.6 Nottingham Panthers 1.5 Sheffield Steelers 1.5
Personally I would make Coventry favourites to retain the title, they are in the best form right night now - thumped edinburgh 11-1, then belfast away 4-1. Wish there was a bookie who prices it up outright. Will have to see if betfair will.

hopefully similar to when bergin first signed for us. Some people said he was lazy (just the way he skates me thinks) , but the difference is Bergin gives his all in every shift, I'm not sure that Gab does!

Ok Keefe, I see your point. Personally I wouldn't want to see Kozak in a panther's shirt, what do others think?

I sit behind the goal, though was unsure whether the panthers goal went in or not. Well done to Manchester, they look a solid and well organised team. panther's passing, control of the puck, hits, well bascially everything was shocking tonight!
Hope it can get sorted for the Cardiff game, but I doubt it!
Agree with most of the comments:
Galbraith - only see him have one ok game, the rest have been poor or very poor. Ferreira - looks lost at D. Cook / Toneys - both tryers, but both are average at best. seen them both give away the puck too much. Parley - again average, there are 4 or 5 netminders in this league alone, I would rather have in a panthers shirt than him!
Unfortunately the optimism, from the start of the season has now evaporated.
with Manchester putting 4 past us, oh as did Hull, Edinburgh, Sheffield et al, than expect Coventry to put at least 7 past as next weekend!

Kozak was easily Hull's best player at the hull arena when Panthers played their a week ago, his dancing apart.
Hull will miss him!
There is no way he will be joining the panthers, - come on after what he did to levers!
If he joins the Steelers, then he is going to get even more stick, than he would have done with Hull, the next time he plays at the NIC...
