I love the "gimme some good lovin"track!!! Anyone know who sings that version as it doesn`t sound like the original by the Spencer Davis Group? I missed the Manchester game but from what I remember from the week before I think it was probably the Blues Brothers film soundtrack version. It's by Thunder from the CD Back Street Symphony. Sixteen years ago gents. Sixteen years. Here you go. ClickyIt was a single way back when, so some of you kidz will be able to download it, or whatever you do to get your choons these days.

I don't care if Shmyr doesn't go with Cruikshank. As long as someone nails him I'll be happy. Most irritating player in the EIHL now Shane Johnson has signed for Sluff.

I can see the tussle at the tills now arguing over the last replica shirt sowed by Matt Myers! Bloody waste of tax payers money that University education was. You don't grow shirts from seeds, they're manufactured. You've been in the US for too long. The past participle is also sewn or sown.

I would think there's a fair chance that the late signing of bmiBaby, and their requirement to be on the Elite League logo means that the EIHL patches on each shirt will have to be done/redone/replaced. Sheilas shirts are late too. For the very same reason? Has any team got theirs yet?

Good call Ted. Shmyr did sit down a while after Foord.

What was the face off violation? It's not the most common of calls. I'm guessing it's all part of ZT. A persistently incorrectly positioned player in the face-off circle was just changed in the past. I suppose they now have two minutes to think about the error of their ways. Now doubt all will become abundantly clear in the fullness of time on that score. From the penalties given I would have a stab at Ryan Shmyr being incorrectly positioned and Matt Foord taking exception, although the truth is it was probably just a bit of argy-bargy. The Hive isn't the clearest of views, and my memory is not the best either. The Bees fans were not overly enamoured with Ms. Tottman. Even the impartial announcer had more than a touch of irony in his voice as he said " Another penalty to the Bees".

HL - not bad at all. It does take practice. Makes you grateful for Stef and his clear and consistent announcements, rather than one of the Staines Massive beating a drum in your lughole whilst you're trying to decipher the Landan accent through the K-Tel karaoke system and being moved out of John Nike's own seat as they were announcing our second goal. It does make you pay more attention to the game and learn the official's signals. Nice effort though Grasshopper, keep up the good work. Very impressed that you managed to count the crowd though. I have a blank game sheet I take in with me so all you have to do is fill in the boxes. Dead easy.
Pantherfan - yes. It isn't used in programme game records, but does appear on the official game sheet, so I've chosen to record it.
Sad innit, but if I don't do it I can't even remember which team we played against last week?

In my best Monty Python voice, "The real stats so far..." I know Pete W and Spik particularly will be interested. Click on this for a bigger version.

sorry baz but thats really anal.... Irrespective of the level of truth in your unhumorous and verbose statement above, your bank manager will agree with my response that any comments as to the rectal nature of my sporting knowledge should indeed be self generated, as those travelling in an opposing direction could well result in an on-cost of fifty a month. If you catch my drift......

I'm sure we played Huddinge IK once...? 7th November 2001 - I have only included pre-season challenge games in the list as that was the topic of the original post. Huddinge is Calle's old team from the mid-90's. For the record we beat them 10-2.

I was goal judging at the U-16 Cougars v Blackburn (5-0) last night. There were more penalties in that game than you'd normally see all season. I guess this is ZT manifesting itself. If this is anything to go by, EIHL games are going to be very frustrating, stop/start until players get used to it. I guess we'll find out tonight. Hopefully the long term benefits will outweigh the initial frustrations.

Don't think they'll cover another team's game. I think the Martigny game on Friday might be being played at Morzine. I have asked for programmes from the clubs involved and the guy from Morzine has sent me two (electronically). One for tonight and one for Friday's game. Both are Morzine style programmes, but one is for the game between Martigny and Panthers, i.e. one is the equivalent of Eye Of The Panther programme but for a game between, for example, Coventry v Cardiff. Dunno whether I'm making 2+2=5 or not. It's the first I have been aware of such an arrangement, and I stress, these are only my thoughts. To back this up, it's Martigny @ Morzine on Saturday (the next night). Anyone care to comment? I'll guess we'll know on Friday. Just checked the email from the guy at Martigny, and he asked if there will be any Panthers fans at Morzine for the game, so that seems to confirm my supposition.

Who got the MoM ? Were Welch + Drouin playing for Morzine? If so, did they score any of the goals?! Yes they were. Drouin scored at least one that I saw.

It would appear that the 60th Anniversary game against Hull is also a league fixture (?)

Certainly two of the three games are on the sites respective websites. Geneva is down for 31 August and Martigny 1 September (think these are correct). The Morzine site is way out of date. I guess therefore that they are "opened doors" games. I would like programmes if anyone is planning to attend please.

The best rumour I ever heard/fell for was that someone who won a shorts wearing competition would win kebabs from the other contestants.
Just cause someone pi**ed on your leg first time out is not a valid reason for throwing the towel in.
