Possibly one final post before this thread gets put to bed for a little while.. It sounds like he can a pretty remarkable life, if anyone has any more information on him I'd love to read up on him a little more. Cheers all x www.amazon.co.uk/King-Kwong-Clipper-Colour-Barrier-ebook/dp/B08R14GWYGThere is a group trying to get Larry listed in the HHOF. There's a facebook group for him as well. He was second in points scored to Zamick in the 57-58 season, before they both left Nottingham for Switzerland.

I intend to, but I had my in-laws with us today. I don't think they'd have fancied it! It wasn't meant as a slight though, just lacked numbers at the time (I obviously posted before their ranks swelled for the 3rd). They got the rest of the arena singing a lot more than usual throughout the 60 minutes though and with a full block and fuller arena could be 10x better. I think given the less than optimal starting game, with a smaller than normal crowd for a not very meaningful match it was a definite success. Looking forward to the Giants at the weekend. I hope we can keep the momentum going and have a positive impact on the match night atmosphere. The players acknowledged it, Bulmer and Betteridge in particular. Hopefully fans will now feel more comfortable and will join in to make whatever noise they can, this is providing some positivity so it can only be a good thing. For a first game it was a great job. Loved the Dennis chants. It's nice for the away crowd to be shut out as from where I sit that's all I can normally hear. It was almost like being at a hockey game. Keep it up.

SOG as they used to be counted are the figures in the saves columns GK1 and GK2, and add that to the goals scored. Wides and blocks never used to be counted, but are now recorded as a measure of offensive play.

This has been a topic of conversation for a good number of years but to date that is as far as it gets. The Nottingham Junior Section, although established and is growing, does not appear on the Panthers radar until a player is identified as requiring some attention. This tends to lead to a player being sent elsewhere to continue their hockey education. On occasions the club has lost interest in a player and he either stays where he is, moves on, or finishes playing altogether. The set up in Nottingham is second to none but the difficulties occur at the point of providing a local senior team to aid a player's progress. Another problem lies in being able to attract players of the standard required for a future move to the Panthers therefore teams such as Telford, Peterborough (on occasions), and Swindon have become in effect farm teams. Oversight of a players progress can become tenuous being totally reliant on feedback from out of town coaches rather than under the nose of the Panthers coaching team. The funding of a local farm team as feed for the Panthers maybe too much of a burden but perhaps conversations could be opened in order to explore what might be achievable within the Lions limited resources? It was done once before when in Nottingham the Trojans were in effect the farm team for the Panthers. There will probably be only a few who remember those days but looking back at Panthers of the past the Trojans were a springboard for many players to the senior level in hockey and the team where injured players regained fitness. I wonder how many old hockey folk could actually name players who moved up from the Trojans? There were quite a few I can assure you of that. Perhaps this is a question for Spik? Ashley Tait, Randall Weber, Simon Hunt to name a few. On the strength of those names you'd have to say it was a good idea. Edit; just had a look, here's 85-86 from Elite Prospects, looks an even better idea. 1. Randall Weber (C) 10 28 26 54 9 | 2. Darryl Easson (RW) 15 32 20 52 37 | 3. Nigel Rhodes (RW) 10 23 20 43 28 | 4. John Hobson (F) 12 20 22 42 17 | 5. Gary Clarson (RW) 17 20 15 35 10 |

Only just joined this on TV. Why is the clock counting DOWN (as I like it to) when it counts up (as national competitions do) at Coventry. Nothing is straightforward in Ice hockey. Tuned in looked forward to 15 mins left and its 5 to go. Do they always count up for international competetion? Never knew. That said I think Coventry always counts up doesn't it? All clocks should count up, irrespective of what competition it is. Coventry is the only correct clock in the Elite League. Why have a clock that counts down, and then announce goals/penalties on a clock which counts up. Typical Elite League incompetence/cheap skating/disregard for the rules - delete as your views dictate.

Scott Conway, the cousin of Brett and Brendan Perlini has finished his college career in the NCAA. I believe he would classify as a Brit in this league but not 100% sure. It will be interesting to see if he tries for a job in the ECHL or looks over here, Panthers would probably be in with a good chance considering we’ve currently got Perlini. I'd expect Scott to attend AHL try-outs, he's put up decent numbers in the NCAA with a clear knack for goalscoring. If his skating is there then I'd expect an AHL team or two to at least give him a shot. When I started goal judging I did some junior games. One of the Conways (I believe it was Scott) scored 10+1 in an 11-0 win.

I saw it out of the corner of my eye and thought it was maybe a slew foot. Which would explain why Fitzy got the hump. Agree, they both wanted to, let ‘em go. Totally agree with both of you. Clearly and obviously both players wanted to go. But no let’s continue to go all out for no contact, no fighting, sanitised, snowflake approved, version of the game. Complete joke. Well done EIHL Lino was tied up and couldn't get away Also Fitzgerald was falling over. Linos would have let it go.

Looking for a copy of the above game programme. Attended the match but programmes had sold out early. Unable to source copy despite contacting both participating clubs. Also looking for a copy if you get offered more than one. Thanks.

One of the legends of British Ice Hockey. The game in this country is better because of him. Sleep well.

Assume you've rung the club Baz? My experience has always been to go staight to the seller and I got results. Programmes etc...sent by post after paying over the phone. But having a trusted fan collecting is good but I've been promised this by some in the past and it never happened. Yes, I try every year. They only sell in person at the Spectrum.

But there's something else I noticed... as with several of the other games we've seen already, the Panthers are winning face-offs for fun. I don't know what the actual stats are, but we keep on winning a lot of them. There are plenty of positives to take from what we've seen so far... which doesn't mean that we're guaranteed anything, but it's certainly a good sign. Some players were up at 70% on face off wins which is staggeringly high.

Manchester (A) 31/08/08 Lost 7-5 Peterborough (A) 03/09/08 Won 5-0 I looked at either side, in case I had these in other seasons and I haven't. Have you guys any proof of validity (as I can't add to mine less understood as valid) like in a fixture list etc so I might be able to add to mine. Like to think I have all for each season but this one I've obviously missed. These were real games.

Question for Jono if he is on and answering questions From the friendship 4 tournament you covered, did you by any chance notice Providence #10 Scott Conway. Brett Perlini's cousin and by my reckoning having played for the Nottingham Cougars in 07/08 eligible for "brit" status? if so how did he do? another potential gem to pick up for some team somewhere along the line. I think he played in one of my first junior games as a goal judge. I forget the details now, it was probably 12 years ago. It was certainly a relative of Kevin Conway. In an 11-0 victory he got 10+1.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. 1. Who discovered radium? 2. What is the capital of Libya? 3. What was John Wayne's character called in the 1969 film True Grit? Reykjavík comma Iceland fullstop.
