Ellis holds a much more intelligent and professional conversation. The podcast was being dragged through by GG with his insight as Kerry’s line of questions was a mix of brown-nosing and “do you know David Ling”.
I’m sure Dan is a good guy and has a lot of qualities, but he wasn’t very knowledgeable about hockey. Gary Graham seems very straight talking, no nonsense and I would imagine Kerry’s overfamiliar approach and all his player interviews starting with “how great is Gary” wouldn’t have gone down well.

On face value, he looks a bit too much on the Kyle Hardy style that won’t suit this league and the first signing this off-season I’ve not been impressed by because of that. However, GG has a clear plan in his mind and a certain player he wants, so Lagrone may well turn out to be a gem, of course I hope he does. To be fair pal, Hardy career has gone uphill since we seen him He’s found his level in France if that’s what you mean, but my point was that he was completely unsuited to the EIHL and put in some poor performances (too small, didn’t like it physical at all and as a result became ineffective in his position).

Is there any known movement on the Brit backup GK?
Usually filled fairly early on. Personally I’d like to see us give Ben Churchfield a better go at the EIHL after his hometown dispatched him last year. Put up some good numbers in the SPHL on a team that would make the 2017 Edinburgh Capitals look competive.

A long way past the possibility of returning, but Boivin has been announced by Rouen in France - effectively swapping places with Johnston.

Anyone pick up on GG refusing to disclose what injury Summers had last year, to which Dan Kerry replies that baseball pitchers should all get the same surgery done…. Shoulder then, Dan?!

A hell of a lot of positives so far. We probably wont really no until players start arriving and we start to here a few bits leaking out about how they are finding it. Will they now be happier with housing arrangents? Will they still spend to much time drinking free beer in local pubs? Clearly Pacha and GG have done a great job of delivering a positive message to new recruits. That appears to be clear. If I have 1 slight critisism it's that we appear a lot more leaky. Far to many of our signings have been widely rumoured for weeks. Then on announcement days we have people confidently stating before hand who it actually ends up being. There’s a part of me that thinks the clubs leak them to generate a buzz. Johnston came out of no where really but you’re right, everyone else was rumoured. A bit half and half on that front… Dubeau, Summers, Sorensen and Caruso definitely came out of nowhere as well as Johnston. Can’t fully remember but I’m sure Ferrara was left-field at the time. Brady, Gagnon, Hunt etc have been rumoured / maybe leaked… but then so have other names that haven’t materialised (yet).

In 2021 he got suspended for throwing a trash can at a linesman… Steelers games could get tasty again!
After years of being a captain for various ECHL teams, I can imagine he’s GG’s early choice to carry the C this year.
Will rack up PIMs and will score points at a decent rate. Again, it’s no marquee signing but it’s another player fitting the mould, good experience and of a good calibre. Every EIHL team without exception would have Hunt.

Ferrara followed Johnston over to Bordeaux in 20/21 season too, so there’s a clear friendship there.
Johnston plays with an edge, picks up some decent PIMS for someone who is a consistent point scorer and with that remains good on +-.
Not a marquee signing, but a good pickup who fits the mould, at a good age and comes in motivated to win.

It doesn't necessarily mean a spare import will be signed. If we end up signing another good quality brit, someone like Lewis Hook then GG could use the 14th and final import slot on another netminder. This may have sparked the rumour a few weeks ago of Liam Hughes (who was at Flames last season) to Panthers Time will tell I read Kovalchuk's post as meaning they were suggesting a currently unused 'spare import' slot would soon be used for a second import NM too push Dubeau, but that Dubeau would be the main keeper. With the second import essentially a backup but one competing for game time (as other teams have gone for). And that Kovalchuk was underlining that this by saying that this was increasingly likely as the only non import Netminder who could push Dubeau was Whistle, who they felt was unlikely to return. So my impression was that you were both saying the same thing but in different words? But I haven't had time to listen to the episode yet so I might be off base Exactly that. GG isn’t as open as to say the exact plan, but he speaks like he’s planning a system similar to Galbraith coming in to challenge Garnett. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s the league has enough available Brit skaters to have two import goalies dressed every game. And then yes, Whistle seems to have had his time in Nottingham and I could only see him leaving Belfast for a number 1 spot of his own.

The latest podcast released today with GG, mentions that he will have somebody to push Dubeau for the #1 spot, suggesting a spare import however Dubeau will be the main keeper. The only Brit who could fulfil what he suggests would be Whistle, who I doubt would return to Panthers.
Not the right thread I know, but despite releasing the latest episode today, it’s clearly recorded at least a week ago.

Good signing, still young but has some solid experience behind him. Knows Pacha well clearly and should come in eager to do well, sort of his last roll of the dice to play at a decent level (higher end of the EIHL or even push on into the continent) if he settles in well and Graham gets the best out of him.
Seemingly Steve Lee has finished at Nottingham, with Hazeldine as the 7th D already confirmed.

Puffer looks handy. Gagnon would seemingly fit what GG says he’s looking for having been wearing an ‘A’ in the ECHL the last two seasons too.
These rumour accounts keep missing on Panthers though, so I wouldn’t hold my breath on either.
Interesting to see on their social media that Dubeau and Sylvestre are very close friends, given that rumour from a month ago. The two of them currently on a trip away together with JS Dea (who is a bit too much to ask for right now).

Looking at his Brampton season where 89.8% SVS and 3.23GAA in 40 games doesn’t look great, but look at Joey Daccord who played 12 games for the same team.
Daccord was only 0.3% SVS better in only 12 games and had 2.85GAA. Daccord was at 91.5% in the AHL that season and has subsequently gone on to play 13 NHL games in the next two seasons.
Dubeau looks a big character, a good age with some good experience, having won championships and hungry to start a lot of games.

And that's a great shame. At 22, if he's got the EIHL in him (and I think he has) he needs to be logging minutes, not riding pine. Myers at 36 is the 4th line centre, whoever said he's got 30 points in him is delusional. Not since 2013 has that happened. Get him screening the net on the PP and the odd shift to keep him warm. Strange signing. OOAA. Sorry to bump this back up but with Matthew getting past the 30pt barrier with games to spare, it shows the talent is still there and he was underrated coming into this season.

I've got 35 points in his last season 15-16 (5 years ago now) previous season to that 2012-13 48 points 26 points or more in all seasons bar 2005-06 (15pts) and he started in 04-05 But it’s delusional to think he might score points in a rink he likes playing in and on a team who will give him more minutes. Sam Herr he isn’t, but decent point scorer he is.

Great face-off guy, disruptive influence on defences, could nicely support some younger and faster forwards. I’d like to think the 30pt barrier is still in his reach.

Put up some very decent numbers, including goals, in a league where points don’t come easy. Topped his team scoring a few years ago, has won championships in one of Europe’s best leagues and he has a big body too at a good age. Could be a shrewd piece of business by Doucet.

Had a very solid first season, put up good numbers and didn’t do a great deal wrong.
Anyone have any explanation why his ECHL numbers were poor this last season? Utah went through a few keepers but most of them put up decent numbers with Carr a glaring anomaly.... but he still had an AHL call up.

Belfast for the win with a cracking roster and a very good/disciplined coach.
Sheffield & Cardiff will make it interesting up top.
All lies on Wallace’s shoulders whether he can inspire a mediocre roster - mainly effected by Brits upping and leaving - into any kind of cup challenge. Realistically we’re not going to trouble the league leaders.
Guildford will be good, as will the Clan. Depth will always let them down however.
