Russia started off slow, plus Spain had to play some soak up counter attacking football against Russia, the score line was flattering. Russia are on fire now, i dont see spain beating them so easily if at all this time around. Snap, spain are a two man team, Russia are a team with a capital T Two man team? Torres, Villa, Fabregas, Casillas, Ramos and Puyol are only two people? Don't talk silly talk Pidge.

Ramos and Villa have been their best players so far this tournament. To say they're a two man side though is lunacy.

How on earth do Germany do it? They were nothing short of abysmal tonight and still won 3 - 2. Mertersacker and Metzelder are surely not the 2 best centre backs Germany have? Lehmann also showed why Arsenal are better off without him. Flapped at almost everything. Torsten Frings and Michael Ballack are just about their saving graces. Is it me or is it just ironic that Germany produced their best performance of the tournament against Portugal when Joachim Loew was suspended and Hansi Flick ran the bench?
I shouldn't complain as I am still on for a weigh in, but on that performance my betting slip should be in with the rest of the rubbish.

Mertesecker isn't too bad, but i'm not a fan of Metzelder.

Philip Lahm is god though, got to be one of the best full backs in the world right now. Rarely ever puts a foot wrong!
Come on Spain tomorrow..

Its the signs of a very good team, to play bad and win, their name is on the cup i think now. The commentators were really annoying me, `lucky lucky germany etc` and how shocking they were, just how bad is England then Lawrenson? They are a big game team and always turn up in the big tournements when they have ordinary teams

Mertesecker isn't too bad, but i'm not a fan of Metzelder. I should defend Per Mertersacker more as a Werder player but at 6 feet 6 tall he gets beaten in the air too easily. His distribution is erratic and he is not the most mobile, even defending set plays when people should be at their most alert. God knows what sort of mayhem Torres and Villa will wreak if they play against them in the final.

Philip Lahm is god though, got to be one of the best full backs in the world right now. Rarely ever puts a foot wrong! Irony I assume. He was abused last night. Absolutely awful performance defensively. Germany stank and were very lucky. On that performance tonight is the effective final.

First rule of football: NEVER write off Germany funny that i thought the first rule was score more goals than your opponent in all seriousness i do agree with the point you make that you should never write the germans off

We're not that bad a side, better than a lot of the teams that did make it. Still can't believe you said Spain are a two man team. Showed you eh?

Russia never turned up tonight, Arshavin was annoymous, looked totally flat throughout the whole game. Its no coincidence that Spain started to play better when Cesc came on, he surely must start the final!?

I'd put Spain up there with Argentina as the best team in the world. They're only weakness could be to set pieces which GER may exploit like they did v POR.
In Fabregas Spain may have the best player in Europe.

And with our previous coach and players that dont give 100% to the cause we would of made quater finals at best. However with the new coach and his choice of players who seem to want to impress and do their best we might of made semi's. Got a feeling though Germany will have this.

Do you honestly think all the best teams qualify or the best team always wins it? Brazil qualified for the 2002 World Cup by the skin of their teeth, but ended up winning it.
Form is temporary, class is permanent. We had a few shocking matches in qualifying and as a result we're not there. Not saying we're the best in the world by any means, but we're certainly still top ten and this latest hysteria from the media and fans alike is a little OTT. We'll certainly be at the next World Cup.

This is exactly what i'm talking about, mass hysteria because of one failure.
1998 - Only just qualified by the skin of our teeth and went out in the second round. 2000 - Went out in the group stages 2002 - Went out in the quarter finals to the eventual winners 2004 - Went out in the quarter finals on penalties 2006 - Went out in the quarter finals on penalties 2008 - Went out in qualifying behind two teams who reached the quarters and the semis
We've always been steady. 2008 qualifying was a blip. We're still 8th in the rankings. Would you like to show me your top 20?

Thats illustrates some serious bottling there , a quite ugly track record, don t kid yourself into thinking england are good when all the decent English players are stuck in reserve teams as over hyped prima donna foreigners play in the first teams question, how many foreigners play in the german and spanish leagues? and those two meet tomorrow in the final, any coincidence? Upshall , England had their day when other countries we re trailing in our wake, and we still never made a major final and habve only ever made one in the FA`s history ... shocking , but not unexpected
