With the tournament just over a week away whats are peoples thoughts on winners, surprise teams or anything really.
I think Italy will take the crown, the group of death should be fun
Italy, France, Holland and Romania

The Dutch will get to the knock out stages i think but choke like they usually do...or go out on penalties...they are even worse than England are at penalties!
Nobody fancying Greece to repeat 2004?

I've took the liberty of making this a sticky for the duration of the tourney.
I'm surprised no-one has tipped Germany. They are always there or thereabouts and as close to being on home soil as possible without being the host nation.

GER and ESP would seem to have the favourable draws. Whichever two get out of the GoD will be strongly fancied.
And then there's PORT. They have the best players in Europe and would be well-served playing him through the middle.
If I had to put my house on a team I'd probably go for GER. They'll have the most support of the visitors too.
Promises to be a great tourney.

I have drawn Croatia on my brother's sweepstake so I'll be rooting for them. My chances are a little better than the World Cup where I ended up having to cheer on Angola!
As a Celtic follower I'll also be looking out for Poland (for Artur Boruc), Holland (for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink - bless you) and Greece (for Georgios Samaras).

I think Croatia's chances disappeared when Eduardo got injured.
Wouldn't it be nice if Italy fail to make it out of the group stage??!

I'm happy to see that my adopted team, Poland, have managed to get a Brazilian born attacking midfielder Polish citizenship in time for the Euros Watch out for Legia Warsaw's Roger Guerreiro. He'll be wearing #20 for the Poles Argentinian born Mauro Cantoro didn't make the squad, nor did Nigerian born 2002 qualifying hero Emmanual Olisadebe. Former Derby striker Grzegorz Rasiak was left out of the squad too. Back home in Poland people talk about him like people here used to talk about Andy Cole, Diego Forlan and Jason Lee.

Italy failed to qualify from the group stages 4 years ago IIRC.
Was there not a scenario when going into the final round robin games Italy needed to beat Bulgaria but a 2 - 2 Draw between Sweden and Denmark would eliminate them, regardless as UEFA had concocted some tie-break formula. Italy went on to complete their half of the bargain and the Swedes and Danes played out the 2 - 2 draw.
Italy were so insensed they even considered legal action IIRC.

It was the Swiss against the Czechs. Wasn't ever going to be the game of the year. Won me £28 though

Better second game today, quality counter attacking move for the second goal from portugal.

The Czechs don't have the strength in depth compared to what they once had, very much a case of "golden generation" and all that. Still, glad the won.
