Well thats good Podolski got 2 goals and points for my dream team ;D.
Not a bad game between Germany and Poland but i always felt Germany would kill them off, Poland would be deadly if they had someone who could score...same with Austria...Croatia far from impressive

Italy lose 3-0, didnt start playing until the second half and by then they were 2-0 down, some great counter attacking by the Dutch and some great goalkeeping from Edwin.

Not for the first time itv got it wrong. Ruud's goal was onside. There was an Italian player lying on the ground off the the pitch. He is still considered active as he was not off due to an injury.
Great game. Just what the tourney needed.

Holland were damn good yesterday. I hadn't expected that at all. I thought the first goal was offside but didn't realise that a player outside of the area of play counted! The second and third were two great break away goals with terrific finishes.
France, on the other hand, were pants. Shame that.

Since when has a player been playing a man on whilst off the pitch? Utterly, utterly stupid.

Agree Upshall i know its the rules and all that but common sense should be used a lot more, imagine if that was the final and they lost 1-0 to that goal. It's all about Spain tonight.. COME ON SPAIN!

Utterly, utterly stupid. Although i agree in these circumstances it does seem a bit daft i can definately see why the rule is there, otherwise players could just run off the pitch to play the attacker offside. I think im right in saying that if Panucci had been given permission by the referee to be off the pitch and recieve treatment then he would not be counted as "active" so would not have played Van Nistelrooy onside. It's a logical rule IMO. Before last night i was following Turkey due to Colin Kazim-Richards but the Dutch have won me over! Hup Oranje!

Utterly, utterly stupid. Players can't leave the pitch without the ref's permission. He had so he was still active. This may be harsh if the player has gone down injured but then we all know how players pretend to be injured. He was active. Onside. One nil.

Fair enough goal now we have heard the explanations about the player off the pitch, but the initial reaction was that he was miles off. Even he looked amazed that the linesman's flag stayed down and then looked rather sheepish during the celebrations.
Really enjoyable game all in all. Italy played pretty well but just didn't have a cutting edge and got caught out by two great breaks. On yesterday's evidence you would still fancy those two to progress, but who knows.
Won't be able to catch tonight's match but not too disappointed as Greece v. Sweden doesn't exactly sound like unmissable entertainment to me.

Podolski is hot on his heels.
Took 16 - 1
And Germany to win it. At least they can keep a clean sheet!!!

This Greece game is torture. Now Steelers fans will know how we felt whenever their team rolled into town under Blaisdell.

spain were brilliant, some of their 1 touch football and movement of villa and torres was immesne when attacking. greece looked ordinary to say they were defending their crown and sweedent dealt with them rather caomfortably after a great goal from ibra....whatever his name is.
back to group A we go

Portugal looked very dangerous on the attack but pretty woeful in defence v the Czech's just now, bet those who have Ronny in their team are a bit hacked off he passed the ball when he could of scored for the final goal ;D

I thought the 3-1 score flattered Portugal, the Czechs didn't take their chances.
Good game though.

Couple of great games today. Holland were brilliant on the counter again and everybody will now be tipping them. But they're like Spain, they tend to start well. Can't help but wonder if they've peaked already.
I thought France played the last hour well. Amazing they lost so big. They didn't finish well but they showed enough to suggest they can beat France.
The fear has to be that the Netherlands will screw ITA and FRA and let Romania thru now. If they don't then Tuesday's game is gonna be fantastic.
Next season it looks like Real will have Ruud, Robben, Sneijder and Ronaldo. Frightening prospect.
