Hull FC have just been fined 100,000 with 40,000 of that suspended for 12 months for fielding and inelligible player in the Challenge Cup rounds 2 and 3
Seeing as they are still in the Cup (semi final in 2 weeks) I think they are lucky.......... then I would say that the cheating black and white gits !

Gotta agree with you there scoobster, they should be kicked out. Problem is ...who should benefit? Both Widnes and Bradford will feel hard done to with this. Widnes may not have beaten Hull with an eligible player anyway, but the point is they would have benefitted from the original crime, thus advancing to play Bradford. The Bulls will be aggrieved by the fact they are missing out on a potential Challenge Cup final appearance, with just Wakefield in their way in the semi. The Wildcats were probably hoping that Hull would get removed so they would get a bye into the final....
All that kind of points to the fine being the best action to take, but I feel they got off lightly there. Their average crowd is around 13,000, their lowest adult ticket price is £20. If we take that as an average, that makes £260,000 coming in through the turnstiles alone. The Superleague wagecap states that no more than 50% of income can be used to pay playing staff. The £130k left would easily cover non-playing staff wages and the 60k fine.
Had it been my decision, it would have been £200k straight. The £40k suspension is probably there to deter Hull from re-offending. It seems pointless to me that it should be a figure that is affordable.
On another note, with the franchises being annouced soon can you honestly see 2 franchises being awarded to Humberside?... Everything is pointing toward Wakefield or Castleford but could it be that Hull FC or Hull KR are the team to miss out?

The RFL couldn,t really check them out , because they are partly to blame for the fiasco.
All teams have to submit their 19 man squad 3 days in advance of the game, and that is whittled down to 18 on the day, now why wasn't this picked up before the first game against Rochdale.
To let this happen once is sloppy, to let it happen again against Widnes, is downright ridiculas on the part of a governing body.
Widnes should have kicked up a fuss, but with the franchise business coming up, I dont think they wanted to rock the boat.
With regard to the franchise and whether Hull can have 2 franchises , I think they will, Hull FC is a cert, Hull KR will get one bucause they bring a lot to the table with regards to away fans, they take on average 2-3000 fans to away games, much more than most of the other teams including the big hitters like St helens and Leeds.
I think Castleford might dip out , IF the |RFL want Widnes,Salford and Celtic in, if they only want 2 then I think Widnes might dip out, but who knows !

Two huge games this weekend.
Friday sees Saints going to Wigan. You can never really be sure what is going to happen in these derby games, it could go either way. Saints are looking top notch at the moment so are probably favourites to win. Hope so!!
Saturday night Leeds travel to France to play Catalans Dragons. This could be close, recently the Rhinos have been slow starters, either just losing or winning following a comeback. Catalans play rough and have the worst disciplinary record in the superleague, but if they can keep that in check, then they can beat the Rhinos. It is a shame this one isn't the sky tv game.
There could be a change at the top of the superleague...or there could be clear air between St. Helens and Leeds.

Paul Cooke will not play for Hull KR again.
He hasnt been sacked, but coach Morgan has said he is fed up with his off field actions which ahve been rumoured on other forums.
From what I heard , Morgan had no choice.
Cooke has birned too man bridges with the Rovers faithfull , if the forum and radio phone ins are to be believed.
Shame really as he is a decent player and was playing for his childhood supported club.

All 12 current superleague teams plus Celtic Crusaders and Salford City Reds are all given franchises for he next 3 seasons
Widnes, HAlifax, Toulouse, Featherstone and Leigh dip out.
Quite surprised that Salford got in before Widnes, especially with the trouble they are having with the archiological dig on their new Stadium.

What the prospects are going up to 16 franchises when the next round of licenses are awarded?

Wakefield better get their stadium built if they wish to keep a franchise. 7 teams in Yorkshire is nuts. As is two in Hull. They should have forced those mergers. Delighted for Wales and this is make or break time for Salford.
In 2011 I'd expect Toulouse to come in. They'll probably increase the amount of teams to avoid causing upset. The need a Cumbrian team too. It's a pity they ditched Gateshead.

An RFL overview of all the pro and cons of each application can be found here. Looking at that it seems Wakey are the most in danger of losing out next time around with Cas not being far behind them.

The need a Cumbrian team too. It's a pity they ditched Gateshead. NO point going on about mergers ! You have to live in Hull to understand how bad it is, although I have a season pass for Hull KR , my wife is a Hull FC fan and goes with her brother and sister in law, we are exeptions to the rule, with most families either red and white or balck and white. They will never merge, there is too much animosity , although it can be said that both clubs welcome each other in the super league. If both teams were getting por gates then merging could have a valid point, but Hull FC have an average of 12,000 and Hull KR just under 9,000. regarding Cumbria, I agree ther should be a Cumbrian franchise, but this wont happen until Whitehaven and Workington merge. I origianlly come from Workington and lived there untill I was 12, and the rest of my family live in Whitehaven. I can tell you these two towns hate each other with a passion! There is nobody with money to burn in West Cumbria, and until there is , they will never have a superleague eam. Pity really as the fans there are every bit if not more passionate than every oher teams fans, and seeing as there isnt any other sport apart from Speedway over there to take their sporting pound, I think its an opportunity wasted. I agree, If Wakefield havent built or at least nearly built a new stadium in 3 years, then its by by to them and hello Toulouse. I can see another expansion to 16 teams, and maybe they could attract a midlands team into the mix.

Go anyway, it is a great day out and a good way of getting to see Old Trafford without having to watch scum Man Utd. But Saints will be there anyway . This season is October 4th and the NIC has Disney there, so Panthers won't have a home game.

Well, last weekend was quite a good one for us Saints fans with Leeds getting beaten by Warrington to give us a little bit of daylight.
This weekend is a big one with all the top six playing each other. Wigan have to travel to France to play the Dragons, Leeds are hosting Bradford in the big local derby (sky sports on friday) with Saints at home to Warrington on tv on Saturday.
The first two are difficult to predict and could be tight but I think that we will be looking at 3 home wins.

The big day has arrived at last. My first trip to the new Wembley Stadium. We plan to set off around 8am and hope that the Saints will be victorious. Hull FC were the last team to inflict defeat on St. Helens in a Challenge Cup game....but that was in 2005.
I hope we can lift the trophy for the 3rd consecutive year and think that we will, but whatever the score it will be a memorable day. Cup Finals always are.
