we should have been rewarded a goal for what happened at the end , theres a rule if it happens in the last minute. Its been the case in a lot of NHL matches this year, and Hicks gave a `goal` at the HOS earlier in the season for a player throwing their stick to stop the puck going in the net , the puck missed but the goal was given as it was in the last minute .... so we were robbed No, hicks got it right both times. For stick throwing in the final two minutes a goal should be awarded. For taking the net off in the final two minutes it's only a penalty shot.

A Penalty goal will be awarded if a goal is prevented illegally.
I.e. like bobness's example, the player was heading for an empty net, the player illegally used his stick by throwing it, stopping the goal so a Penalty goal was awarded.
Hicks would award a penalty goal, IF in his opinion the puck had past Frankhouser and was heading in, but then the goal intentionally was knocked off (Stopping the clock) before it crossed the line.
