Not necessarily. If Poland were to beat Italy in regulation and then Italy do the same to us we would risk missing out on promotion all together That's why I said extra time, in order to split the points: limits Poland to 2 points and Italy to one rather than either coming out with a full three. Or is my maths off? I mean to be perfectly honest I completely skipped over the “extra time” haha

I’m rooting for Italy (1-1 after one) to put Poland in their place. We can then lose to Italy , providing we beat the opposition tonight and tomorrow. Sure we may end up a point short if Poland get two today and win the rest they have. Thanks Spik

This may come to haunt us now. If Poland win they can get 13 points. So Italy will fight for it more against us. Damn. We will have to beat Italy. Oh but for that 4-3 we could have had last game. Blackandgold73’s OT Poland win for today looks more of a better choice now.

Although not the preferable result, Italy looked pretty ordinary in that game.

Looks like we are have to learn verse two and three of ‘God save the King’ now after that polish national anthem too. 😆

Won’t want this to be going on too long. Need to move on a goal or two.

It was a match pen though so wouldn't that be at least one? Still 2-0 after 2, would like a bit of padding on that scoreline.

GB have been very ordinary too! Need to a lot better than this if they are to get in the top 2... Lithuania the weakest in the group

Bowns said after that they perhaps took Lithuania a bit lightly. I thought mixing up the lines didn't help either.

Really, really poor crowd tonight. It was quite s suprise I must admit. Hockey fans all over thr country. It should be difficult to get tickets for the weekend games with midweek still seeing big crowds. Does team GB just not engage many UK fans? This is something that we dont get that often at all so id really expected to see more. I cant imagine the IIHF are to impressed at this point.

By robbing both Poland and Italy of a 3 point win

The crowd was as I expected for a midweek game for GB tbh. As for the IIHF I think they’ll be satisfied. For example this level played in Slovenia last year for a midweek game got 2500 for the evening game involving the home nation. Going by tonight’s game summary on the IIHF Website there was 2606.

I know a lot of people personally who have no interest in the national team as they just don't like the international style of hockey. I've also heard some Scottish fans say they have no interest or connection with the GB team as they never player North of the border. The complete lack of advertising for the tournament in the city centre (or even outside the venue) hasn't helped get any potential casual fans in either.

I've also heard some Scottish fans say they have no interest or connection with the GB team as they never player North of the border. It's also a huge ask for folk that would be most likely to travel so soon after the fortune they had to splash out on attending the play-off weekend. For a lot of people, the GB tourny trip is actually cheaper most occasions it's abroad!

First international tonight.
Again i was surprised at the low attendance for a international, the hockey itself for the first period was OK but GB took the foot off the pedal a little once we was 2-0 up and it ended up being a slightly better than the panthers have been this past season.
The total lack of advertising is mind boggling.
The GB crowd makes the game, an away trip is definitely on the cards I can see them being a great laugh.

Years gone by it was near all Scottish representation. Any reason to not support the GB TEAM? But distance travelling is obviously their problem. Anyway, assuming all three top teams win again today, an OT loss should do us. Avoid being behind at 60 minutes.

With 1 point available for OT loss, wouldn't this put us 1 point behind Poland (assuming they win their last game)?

Could someone explain the divisions please ? In short...Oddly titled. Basically, top tier is the World Championship group of 16. 1A is next then 1B ( they used to be side by side as the second tier and one go up from each) , then 2A then 2B then 3. If not a qualification round before that ( probably one or two match’s) in order to compete in 3. I wish they could just say 1,2,3,4 etc...

Right, that explains it, yep 1,2,3,4 would be much easier.
Thanks.
