Good game and some great performances. Liam Kirk is just another level His skating is incredible. Clearly he was good to get drafted and get the opportunities he has, but the opportunity to train and play where he has has pushed him on so much more. I’d not seen him play live before, his passing and vision are something else

Great game, they were composed on the puck and didn’t let things get to them, Korea were very good at leading with the elbow into things. Kirk did have a tendency at times to try and do it all, but his link up with Neilson for the 3rd goal was sublime and that snipe was exquisite. A tougher test today though.

Kirk is a decent player probably the best Britain has produced in years but let's not get ahead of ourselves there's a reason he hasn't had a look in above AHL level.
He's always going to stand out in a game like this tbh.

3-1 up after two. Better that we are two head. But Poland are good. Keen to see we can kill it off with one more.

5-4 after overtime, got away with that to some extent, only 2 points though.

Korea please. Otherwise 1) Italy to beat Poland or 2) more OT for the others.

Lo and behold once the GB game finishes 2/3 of the fans leave the building with a game still to play. Disappointing. But no surprise.

Lo and behold once the GB game finishes 2/3 of the fans leave the building with a game still to play. Disappointing. But no surprise. Its fairly standard across all of the international tournaments played with this format. When watching the Olympic qualifiers in Latvia some years back there would be 16,000(whatever it held) in when Latvia played. When it was GB v Kazahkstan youd be lucky if there were 1,000 in there. 3 games over 10+ hours is a lot to stick with. Theres also going to be a fair portion who will be travelling home somewhere tonight.

5-4 after overtime, got away with that to some extent, only 2 points though. Massively so. Although I was in the building today sat lower down in block 10(not my usual view) so I had a different perspective. Not my prefered choice of views but a lot happened down the far end in the last 10 minutes or so. Polska really turned it up and GB lost the plot a bit. The late powerplay to go 4 3 up could well have been all that prevented it being a regulation loss. As I understand it though that leaves GB still in control of their own destiny. Win the resr in regulation and its gold.

We need two regulation wins over the next two weaker sides before playing Italy. Consolation for us of Italy beating Poland on Tuesday should we lose to Italy ourselves.

Kirks pass for the ot goal was a thing of beauty. Hammond was doing stuff like that all season but generally no one was anywhere near being able to receive it…

It's only a thing of beauty if someone is on the end of it though .. else it would have just ended up in open space.. like you said it's a pass which is done regularly just not always finished off. was a exciting end to the game but I wasn't overly impressed with GB tbh

I have a tournament pass for the games, but cant make all the non GB games, is there anywhere to watch them live or Replays? I can see links to some of the games from here www.iihf.com/en/events/2023/wmia/video but not all the games ( and no GB) On previous tournaments there has always been free webcasts? Thanks

Not sure if its every game but Italy v Korea and Romania v Lithuania are on.

The ones that are on Viaplay (GB ones) aren't shown on YouTube. I think all the others are though.

If Poland were to beat Italy in regulation and then Italy do the same to us we would risk missing out on promotion all together That's why I said extra time, in order to split the points: limits Poland to 2 points and Italy to one rather than either coming out with a full three. Or is my maths off?

I’m rooting for Italy (1-1 after one) to put Poland in their place. We can then lose to Italy , providing we beat the opposition tonight and tomorrow. Sure we may end up a point short if Poland get two today and win the rest they have.
