Well, apart from those damn post in the middle of your sightline I could see the goals. The game was ok. Lithuania in MK were attacking and though it seemed we had the upper hand and at 2-0 up we faltered and a slack period cost us. Had to use a timeout and that didn't do much as we gave up a goal and went down in this match. Only a challenge game of course and the players for Gb being adjudged for the 23 man quad to go to Hungary. Loads of Lithuanians there speaking good English so i assume living in these parts. Didn't know there world position (that we beat them 5-2 last year and got promoted from the 3rd tier leaving them behind)...so I guess it's just like us in Australia, Poms at a cricket match.Next stop Coventry tonight before a flight abroad.

Special attention to GOALS section Shields is not (as yet) all-time goalscorer as officials claim.Colin is two adrift of Gerry Davey who played far less games though numbers in a squad were shorter.THIS shows the all-time period NOT the modern era only.
(games played - Goals scored) present players
Gerry Davey 45 43 Colin Shields 84 41 Tony Hand 64 40 Kevin Conway 58 33 David Longstaff 101 32 Ian Cooper 80 30 David Clarke 92 29 Paul Adey 55 28 Ashley Tait 110 25 Scott Neil 37 23
Note...If Shields gets one more 'point' in these games he'll equal David Longstaff's 2nd placed all-time record. Tony 'assist king' Hand remains on top with 122.
Matt Myers 8,18 and 48 Pims behind 3rd (Cooper.I),2nd (Hurley)and 1st ( Tait) placed Penalty takers for GB all-time.

Doesn't bode too well for the WCs. I was at the game in Coventry... if you take it at face value, yes it looks bad. But the roster for the 2nd game was far weaker than the final line-up... missing Bowns, Dowd, Shields, O'Connor, Richardson, J Philips, Brooks and Kirk. Giving some of the newer players a chance. Plus Mosey got injured, and both Whistle & Murdy were off their feed... we've seen them both do better (they were also partly let down by the D). It's going to be a tough group... we're looking decent going forward, I'm just a bit concerned defensively. Bowns is going to need to be on top form.

First game of the tournament is GB vs Slovenia... face-off is 11:30am UK time.
Unfortunately with LA Kings being swept from the NHL Play-Offs, it's highly likely that Anze Kopitar will be icing for Slovenia - making an already tough job even tougher. We shall see...

Looking forward to seeing what we can do, if we can avoid relegation back to 1B then that'll do me.
I mean let's face it, Italy & Slovenia will be too strong but you can never say never, our best chance would be to get 3 wins. Hungary, Kazakhstan & Poland. If we get off to a good start today then my opinion might change.

Are Italy that strong? I don’t know much about Euro hockey but most of the Italian team is made of players from the AlpsHL which I didn’t think was that high a level whereas Kazakhstan have several KHL players

Are Italy that strong? I don’t know much about Euro hockey but most of the Italian team is made of players from the AlpsHL which I didn’t think was that high a level whereas Kazakhstan have several KHL players Kazakhstan are ranked a few places above Italy by the IIHF. My personal thoughts would be that Slovenia and Khazakhstan would be the toughest opponents. Ultimatly we are bottom seeds and it would be a great achievement just to stay in the group. 3 wins is asking too much i'd have thought. Think we will need one of the other teams to struggle, perhaps Poland. We will need to beat them and pick up a few more points here and there. I think it will take a Panthers CHL type effort to not get relegated.

Remembering the past when we were doing well with this type of opposition (though we had bulked up with 'duals',it seems more obvious that we are back in the second tier striving to make a point to stay there.

GB lead 2-1 after 2 periods - O’Connor (pp) and Dowd. Whole team playing well, Bowns solid!
Big final period coming up.

Thy was an impressive team performance. They may only play together once a year but you can see the chemistry developing year in, year out
