Now THAT was one hell of a hockey game! On paper we didn't stand much chance... but a great team performance kept Slovenia frustrated. It's roasting hot here in Budapest, even warmer in the arena than in the NIC and we've all shouted ourselves hoarse... fantastic time. I hope the Freesports coverage was good, and that you could hear how loud & proud we were.

I don't know about anyone else but the sound on commentary seemed distorted.

However by the looks of it, there did seem to be more fans in attendance than what you usually see in early games during tournaments like this. To beat a team that was in the recent Olympics is an incredible achievement. Is it 1 team that gets promoted and 1 relegated? Its a shame that Freesports couldn't do an highlights show for the other games Keep this up and some teams might be in danger of losing their Brits

From this group the bottom team gets relegated to division 1B, the top 2 teams get promoted to face the likes of Canada, Sweden, etc.

If we can show that same belief that saw us win today then anything is possible.
I was perhaps being overconfident with 3 wins but we have 1 out of the way and not one of the teams I'd have picked us to win against.

How anyone says he isn’t the best in the eihl is beyond me He is good and i'm a fan of him but id don't think its that clear that he's the best in the league. One of them no doubt but i think he's just short of Galbraith imo who i thought was the best last season. Just a shame about the rest of the Panthers team

Its a shame that Freesports couldn't do an highlights show for the other games There are highlights on YouTube, and the none televised games are live on there (Italy/Poland is live now, no commentary).

I'll be honest, I've not been bothered about GB games therefore, I'm so glad Freesports is around otherwise I wouldn't be taking a more keener interest.

A good feeling that we are hitting the ice running (skating hard)....though the Slovenian team who recently showed the USA how to play - had a weakened side to what they could have WE won the match. A days rest before Mondays second game.

We're tomorrow, looks like they haven't given Shaggy any days off this time around.

We're tomorrow, looks like they haven't given Shaggy any days off this time around. It's very odd...normally there are two complete rest days... but not this time. No idea why. I'm off to watch the two neutral games shortly, then we have GB vs Kazakhstan tomorrow (3pm UK time).

It's only one game in.Why do we need two rest days? But I think the rest today will prove helpful for tomorrows hit on Kazakhstan. A win will make our claim very solid even though we have the Italians and 'the rest'to follow.

Another 2 goal defeat for Slovenia, this time at the hands of Poland. The Polish netminder was awesome and Slovenia completely lost the plot, their composure and any sense of discipline. The refs could have called three times as many penalties on them as they actually got...

It was the MK guy in nets for them today? I only saw a bit of the Italy/Poland game yesterday, but thought Murray looked quite composed (although they went on to lose).

Need Slovenia to beat the others now and let us in.
With Hungary beating Italy that holds them back too. but did we want an OT win here, er...to early to say?

Just doing one of those stats things....last time in top division
2017 Italy Slovenia
2016 Hungary - (coached by Panthers newly signed coach.) Kazakhstan
2002 Poland
1994 Great Britain - a return after 25 years would be nice.

the fact that Hungary, who lost to Kazakhstan in game 1, also went on to beat Italy (who beat the Poles in Game 1, and then Poland beat the Slovenians in Game 2), shows how difficult, and important today's game is going to be. And how even the group is.
