Shalla has scored more league goals in 3 games for Indy Fuel than he did in 26 for Panthers. WTF. Just shows it might not be the players that are the problem

Its starting to become obvious that the coaching side is a major problem. People keep saying its an average team but it shouldn't be. Shalla leaves all of a sudden he can't stop scoring. We all saw evidence of that ability at the start of the season. Derlago has put up massive points wherever he has played. Philips and Mok clearly have great skill but aren't putting numbers we know they're capable of. Sauve was a top drawer CV signing but he's inconsistent and his frustration shows. The only player who's putting up more points than you'd expect is Perlini. I think you put any of these players in Cardiff/Belfast/Sheffield they would tear the league up

What was it Jason Williams said at the end of last year when asked if he was coming back? Oh yeah..... “I wouldn’t come back and play for that ******* coach in a million ******* years” !

Exactly what I said as soon as it was announced shalla was released ! He wasn't the issue at all. He's scored wherever he's been comes here and isn't played to his strengths! #coreyout

Neilson seems to have the ability to help young Brits become better players whilst simultaneously coaching any semblance of flair out of experienced players. That's quite a remarkable skill in itself.
The 2012-13 team did so well despite being coached by Neilson, not because him.

When Shalla was sogned i was so happy he's just the sort of guy i think does best in this league ECHL level, young and coming off the back of a good season.

But is foes beg the question how? Poor coaching. Neilson seems to have an aversion to settled lines, with them changing from game to game and period to period. How are players supposed to play at their best if they never spend long enough playing with line mates to develop any kind of chemistry? All the bowling nights in the world won't help if the players don't get a chance to bond where it matters, on the ice. Damn, maybe I should offer my services to the Panthers as a Sports Psychologist? My wife is a Dr of Forensic Psychology, perhaps 16 years of marriage has imparted a bit of it onto me? Or perhaps it's just common sense?

The only argument to that is that he was on the most settled line to start with. The Farmer/Perlini/Shalla line was the line that stayed together the longest. One other thing I've just noticed on EP is he's listed as left wing but I'm sure he always played right wing for us so did we have a square peg in a round hole. I'm by no means the best authority on hockey tactics but is there something in that?

There is a reason natural right wingers who shoot right are so in demand, because it's better to have such players playing on the right wing, and vice versa.

I think we play Derlago on the right as well don't we? He's another listed as LW

Dead right. How many times have we heard a coach say “we needed a right hand shot” or a “left shot D man” etc ....loads of times. Yet Oakford belittled a fan the other day for suggesting just that ! Neilson has always had that “I will make a different player out of this guy” mentality by playing him out if his natural position and it rarely works. There’s a natural side a shooter wants the puck coming from depending if he’s right or left handed. If you want a left winger then sign one, don’t sign a right handed centre, play him as a left winger and then wonder why the hell he struggles, which is what Neilson does !
