Cover, and I think he chose to leave. Not been many gassings in Coreys ten years have there ? Especially considering some of the rubbish we've had.

Still no news on a replacement. I do not understand the logic of binning a healthy player when you have nobody actually signed up to come in. I understand getting rid as he wasnt scoring thr goals he was paid for, but he could have been at least an extra body to take the odd shift until we had aggres terms woth a new forward, rather than playing short steelers and dundee have been signing players why does it take us so long! Then again i suppose Its not like we have dwindling title ambissions and a cup knockout game soon that we need the extra goals for.. Oh wait

According to Thommo in the Sheffield Star their new guy Neilly was wanted by Panthers,Dundee and Amiens.
If we do sign a new guy,I don’t think we should release anybody, but run with an extra import. Bussieres would make quite a nice spare.

I can certainly see the logic. It sends a very clear message to every player, especially the ones who aren't putting in as much effort. I suspect that we gain more from players feeling that they will be held to account than we will lose from being a man down (even more so when you take into account that the player we released scored very few goals).

Agree with Mark. The shot across the bows for the rest of them was more use than Shalla. That's not always the case, but seems to have worked in this case.
Saying that it's no good if it drags on for weeks.

Let's see what happens the next couple of weeks when we play Cardiff and Belfast !

I've seen a few people on social media moaning that Steelers and Dundee have signed players in the time since we announced we were after another player. I understand that it's not great to see rivals sign new guys whilst we sit and continue to wait but have any of the recent signings in the league been the quality players we're looking for?
I wouldn't say so. Neiley will do a decent job in Sheffield I'm sure but we released the guy who should've been our sniper, so we need a truly quality guy who can come in and score goals. Neiley isn't that, and neither are the other guys teams have signed recently. Neiley is the best that's been signed in the league since Christmas and on paper, he's average-slightly above average.
There's a few good players available, players who you'd rightly expect to have a fair few offers from leagues of similar or better standard to here. Just because we haven't signed a guy yet It doesn't mean Corey is doing jack in his office. I'd rather wait a tiny bit longer for a quality guy, than wait a couple days to sign a Latvian kid. I'd hope we have a guy in before the Belfast weekend though.
I get why people are moaning we released Shalla before having a replacement but come on.. Nearly the entire fanbase wanted someone cut from the team, and those pleas were heard, Shalla got cut. Shalla will have been on notice since the 2nd week in December, Corey will have been talking to potential signings since then and it is out of his hands once he makes an offer, there's no givens in sport, offering a good deal doesn't mean it'll get accepted.
We can cope at the moment with the guys we have, get a guy in before Belfast weekend and I'll be content.

I would agree to an extent, but the season isn’t that far from done for us,we need some quality and bloody quick. If we lose to Cardiff again on Sunday they will only have about 24 games left,so assuming we will lose at least 4 of our remaining games,Cardiff would have to lose about 8 of their remaining 24 games for us to catch them. That’s not going to happen !
Yes Corey can wait for quality, but he was after Neilly so the being patient card doesn’t quite stack up does it, because Neilly is not of the quality we desperately need !
Laser focussed....yeah right !!! 🙄

Tbh the players Dundee, Sheffield and Coventry have signed haven't stood out to me as being quality and arguably not as good as Shalla on paper. Yes this guy needs to be in for the Belfast weekend without a doubt

He was released due to an incident in Training, sounds like a bad apple. Good player though, just don't want another Grimaldi type fiasco.

Without knowing the details of the incident, apportioning the blame solely to Camara is purely guesswork. Having seen him play back in his Saginaw days I'd be happy to have him though, although in addition to another player, not instead of.

Odense’s PR mentioned something along the lines of his behaviour in a recent training session not being acceptable so they’ve released him. Must’ve been pretty unprofessional considering how important a player he’s been for them

www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=4548Hanson would make a good replacement! Proven he can put up points in the ECHL quite comfortably and has been called up the the AHL because of it. Shipped around abit in the AHL which I assume isn’t ideal. Be worth a word with him for sure. As for Camara he looks like a good player on paper but if he brings a bad attitude with him it’s something we don’t need considering how detailed we were over that 8 game stretch.

Must’ve been pretty unprofessional considering how important a player he’s been for them And as I said, without knowing the full details of the incident, apportioning blame solely on Camara is not really on. He wouldn't be the first player to get the bullet due to the unprofessional actions of a coach, for instance. But of course a team won't say that.
