I’ve called on him to get axed, so I’m glad he has as it clearly wasn’t working for him. Good luck to him though; need a good replacement however. Bill Thomas would be rather nice. Need more quality, experience, guile, passing ability and goals in our forward lines. A win last night was good and deserved, but we should have beaten what is a poor Coventry side a lot easier than we did. There’s only one Blaze player I would even think about signing and that’s Pietrus but the rest are poor.

www.nottinghampost.com/sport/other-sport/nottingham-panthers-miss-out-two-992961Already missed out on 2 out of 3 targets. To me, it smacks of wanting to shut the fans up and get us off Neilson’s back after the Sheffield games. Then just casually drop in after last nights win, and when the fans are a bit calmer, that those targets we’d been speaking to from before Christmas won’t be coming (if they existed).

When / if this replacement is announced fans will wish Panthers still had Shalla!

I wasn’t there so can’t comment; thing is though, confidence will likely be low so it’s not surprising that it wasn’t a definitive win. The cynic in me wonders whether the club have missed out on two possible signees, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I just hope whoever the new player is, comes in and is decent; don’t want another Sarkanis type player.

The same Sarkanis who is 7 + 6 in 17 games so far. Latvian League is quite different to the EIHL.

We need somebody a heck of a lot better than Sarkanis.

We need somebody a heck of a lot better than Sarkanis. Very much so. No disrespect to Sarkanis, but I said at the time, that I felt he was a development type signing. Whoever is replacing Shalla, needs to be of a similar pedigree. Shame it didn’t work out for him, but that’s what happens sometimes.

Thompson beats Corey to Eric Neily... running out of options now it seems.

What makes you think we even spoke to him or were beaten to it. You talk like anybody that signs for a rival should just have automatically signed for us instead

As usual, other clubs manage to sign players at the drop of a hat while the Panthers procrastinate. My opinion, the claim to have been looking at signings for the past two or three weeks was cobblers, a panic statement after the disasters against the Steelers, and a realisation that the past month had been that poor that the club should have acted sooner. Spin and lies as usual.

Who says that's true,it could be just spin to the fans to make out they were after a spare,we don't know. I would hope whoever we get has considerably more pedigree than Neilly anyway.

Shalla wont have been cheap we should be replacing his wages.

Mmmm Especially as the only close connection i can see with Eric Neilly the guy that Steelers just signed,is that he played on the same team twice as......Zack Phillips ! 😳 Maybe he's crap.....we shall see.

I believe that it was two out of three possible targets that declined. We'll just have to see about the third. ..

Why do we release a guy, before we’ve tied up a suitable replacement ? Seems a bit stupid to me,especially when you’ve got a player banned too.

It’s not like Neilson gasses people regularly, unless it’s either a very obvious one like Grimaldi or a short term Euro guy who’s deal expires. Even from all the crap teams we’ve had, I’m struggling to remember more than a couple of players he’s cut.

Davis Parley Jon Zion Ian McDonald Chris Capraro Martin Tuma Parley....yes he was garbage,an obvious gassing. Zion....was cut because Black told Corey he had to cut either Zion or Galbraith. McDonald....yes,wrong move though, his goal stats have been pretty decent since leaving Panthers. In fact they wernt bad when he left Panthers compared to Shalla. Capraro....if you knew why he got cut you wouldn’t believe it,but it wasn’t because of on ice performance ! Tuma....haha well I think we all know why that happened, he was always bloody injured. A disaster from even before he got here !
