Makes no difference. Returning players still need to reapply for visas. Neil Black stated all players would be here by the 7th. Seems we'll be 4 or 5 short this Saturday. But why should he worry? Plenty still defending the indefensible.

What matters is what happens from the 9th September onwards.

What matters is what happens from the 9th September onwards. Its indicative of the club vibe or general attitude/approach from the club. If there is a laisez faire attitude it leaches down from the management i.e. if the owners/managers don't care why should the players. Look at the attitude last season to the drinking culture that pervaded the club, was anything done to stop it, where sanctions placed on the guilty players? Its this attitude that winning at all costs that imho is predominantly missing in Nottingham with instead an attitude that one more auction will just make a little more money or yet another meet the fans we can fleece even more and who cares if the on ice performance is poor we will still get fans fawning over the "superstars" at a "beefcake" calendar signing... If the players can turn it on for the games that matter... Great but my experience is that winning leads to more winning and losing leads to the opposite, regardless of whats at stake would you rather see panthers win or lose every game and surely that is easier when we have a full squad that has had sufficient training...

We're coming up against a team on Saturday that takes things very seriously, they have a full squad arriving on time and are undoubtedly favourite to sweep the league again. Things look better than last season for Panthers but we're still several imports short.

So if we get beat in lots of warm up games, then get pasted in all the CHL games,by the time the league comes round our guys are going to be feeling pretty downbeat eh. 😩 #momentum

Is this a reduced priced game which might help a tad on feelings towards it being a 'game' to attend. Or is this , together with block (bronze to silver) change just money orientated?

It's an important game, just not important results wise. If we had 1 fan, or 10,000, this game would still happen. Personally, I'm not fussed if we lose. If we win then awesome, I'm just glad to be watching hockey in person again.

With a little sarcasm I wondered if it was cheaper which might go someway to it being ok to play with limited strength.

It is slightly cheaper, about 5 quid off the usual price I think (at least at the top end, I don't know if all prices follow the same pattern). It's not Sheffield selling their games at a fiver a ticket though.

Looking at the seating plan a couple of days ago I was surprised to see not that many seats sold. I thought we might be looking at quite a big crowd but it looks pretty low for an opener where people are normally chomping at the bit to see some hockey again.

We are not going to this one, waiting for the Krefeld game. That's generally 8 of us.

If that's the case then it's really not good enough from the club. This is the first preseason game and whilst it's of little importance to have essentially a quarter of the roster missing isn't cool. I wouldn't be buying a ticket.

To be fair I'm going because I miss hockey live Normally sit silver seats but knew this would be case so bought bronze seating Will be first time I've ever sat behind the goal at home (unless it's playoffs)

no news on Zakharchenko..... Also thought this was odd (although maybe just an oversight in the article) - in the pictures of training camp pretty sure theres a goalie in the net who isn't Garnett or Gospel

It's a bad joke. A player signed three months ago isn't here becaus of some ill defined delay.

I spoke to a friend of mine who has spent quite a bit of time in Russia. I asked him about a Russian getting a visa to come to the UK. He said that it can be an absolute nightmare for Russian's. He said authorities can take the wee wee and make you jump through numerous hoops. He wasn't surprised when I told him that the Panthers players were having issues.
