Good. Straight in at the deep end for him.

An impressive-looking signing - playing regularly this season, good stats, decent CV, recent trophy-winner (Italian Cup) ... and with a better save percentage than K-Wall had with the same club in 2009-10! As CN says, will allow Wiikman to get properly fit while not over-exposing Green, who has put in some worthy performances given the circumstances. It'll be interesting to see how "short-term" this contract is - you wonder if we might eventually be facing a Plante/Pinc dilemma. Credit to the club, however, for taking action in what for the last month or so has not quite been the cut-and-dried GK replacement situation some have made it out to be.

Very pleased this has been addressed and looking forward to this weekends games now. I hope that the delay in bringing him in does not cost us.

About time, if we are lucky this won't have happened too late. Unfortunately it probably has with all the points we've thrown away in the last few weeks. To me watching matches the first signs of any problem with Miika were in Belfast, the Friday he let a couple of soft ones in and Saturday was slow getting up after several saves. In the 10 games since then he's started and completed 2 games, started and left early in 3 (all 3 having shipped goals) and then Green has started 5. When having a strong netminder is as important as it is this is as clear cut as it could be especially with a manic holiday schedule upcoming.

He outperformed Dan Bakala whilst playing for the Tulsa Oilers the same year DAB played for them then re-joined us (and by all accounts the 12-13 Tulsa Oilers really weren't very good making his stats all the more impressive that year), so hopefully we've got a good one here. Played with a few familiar EIHL faces in his 2 seasons at Tulsa too Drew Fisher (Cov), Sean Erickson (Cov), Justin Fox (Fife) & DAB (Notts) in 12-13 and Kyle Bochek Nochek (Cov), Drew Fisher (Cov), Craig Cescon (Brae, Cov) & Brandon Coccimiglio (Edi) in 13-14.

Nice signing, about bloody time. The important question is will he wear #1 or #29... Because I know this will influence your opinion on him

Looks a decent pick up, wonder if we'll keep him on for the season if he impresses during his short term contract? Competition for place can only be a good thing. Wonder if Corey is looking for a D man as well just whilst Lee and Dimmen are out?

Latest OS says he arrived last night and he has trained with the boys this morning. Great work from the team and player imo to get in quick as possible and sort paperwork out etc.

Not too sure about getting him in as quick as possible? But at least we now have what looks to be a suitable replacement/stand in. Let's hope it can get us back on track on the ice at least

Yes, can't see it happening though unfortunately.

I still say we should have 2 import netminders for the whole season as standard.plus free. We don't always have to dress both but it is such a crucial position an injury can break a season, as we keep discovering.

Yes, can't see it happening though unfortunately. It certainly ought to happen. We signed Hardy, so clearly (a) the coach wanted another import D man and (b) funds were available to pay for it. Now, Hardy wasn't the right man so we cut him. But both of these two conditions are still applicable, added to which we have since lost two d-men to injury, one of them an import. The need is greater now than when Corey previously said we needed someone. But this is the Panthers so who knows.

I'm thinking the club probably have brought him as quick as possible, I get the feeling they would have identified him as the guy they wanted a few weeks ago as his contract was expiring with Valpellice but they've had to wait for his contract to end.
They could have rushed out and got somebody like Pinc and in that scenario we'd probably be no worse off than had we stuck with Green like we actually did.

It appears we've signed him from another team, not as a free agent. Now, to me that's interesting. If I were him, why would I want to leave a decent ish team with a regular income for a short term deal. I suspect he's here for the duration

I still say we should have 2 import netminders for the whole season as standard I think that's unrealistic tbh, do you really think we'd be able to get a couple of Miika's standard willing to spend half their time sat on a British hockey team's bench, or more likely in the stands?
