And when Fata levelled Jacina (fair hit) IMO why didn't anyone go at him. Because it was a clean hit! If someone is heat cleanly you don't jump the guy who orchestrated it. Maybe you get your hitter to get him at some point but jumping him? That kinda play is what's wrong with hockey at times. Dirty hit= do what you got to do! Clean hit= Suck it up, hit back and take the physical domination back. I wasn't there and I'm just going on you calling it a clean hit. My opinion covers clean hits in general.

. I still think Neil's not spent the same as last season. He knows our grand slam success will bring the fans and cash in, we obviously spent a lot on last years squad. I think hes been more frugal this season. What? He's not spent the money? Have you seen how many short notice signing a he's had to find? He's spent about the same and been unlucky on the injury front. Player turnover this year has been ridiculous due to injuries. The quality players are trying to make the major euro leagues. We are sometimes a stepping stone. Your forum name Tessier would suggest you know that more than most when he split for Switzerland and we ended up with Ceman. The players are simply not available at times.

Such negative tactics,it was painful to watch especially in the third!
Dump and...change,everytime we seemed to break forward everyone went for a change! How many times did one man break into the zone and have zero support!?
First ten mins were great then awful

Well it was called as charging, it looked fine to me too, tbh that's the sort of hit I pay money to see. Sheffield were miles better than us today, I didn't know Corey was using this as a training day or whatever beforehand (why choose this game?), but if he was he needs to have another go. Why we need new systems at this stage of the season is another matter. Hats off to Kowalski though, immense. If he does call it a day at the end of the season then the next guy has huge skates to fill.

Decent yes, but not top drawer.

That wasn't my point. My point was that Black still had the money there. With no funding for an intricate scouting system these guys were probably the best to hand and at short notice would of carried a decent price tag.

Tonight was a contest to see which team could play the worst... unfortunately, we won that contest. It's not as if that Steelers team is anything to write home about - they're not. Talk about handing them the win on a platter... not happy at all with that display.

Kowalski and the defence played well, two goals on forty seven shots tells that story Tells the story for Kowalski, not sure the defence can take much pride in that number of shots getting through.

Kalus was brilliant. We need to try and keep hold of him for next season!

Kalus was brilliant. We need to try and keep hold of him for next season! I thought he was garbage tonight. NHL player should be a leader IMO, he doesn't pass and is so lazy sometimes. I hope he doesn't return.

Have you seen players try to get the puck off him and he just stick handles around them?

To what end though Tess? Maybe he just needs better line mates, but for a lot of puck possession there's not huge numbers going up (15+17 from 35 games).
I'm not saying he's no good or anything, but he's raved about on here and I can't say I entirely see it.

Also did my eyes decieve or was Lacho playing centre?

All this so called money that Neil Black has paid out signing more and more players to cover injuries is a credit to him......BUT this raises a large question.
If he is willing to spend it and it is so so obviously available, why can't we spend that full amount at the start of the season and put a real quality squad together instead of the usual bunch of distinctly average misfits ?

It may have been a poor performance from Panthers but as has been said, Corey was trying out new lines and systems and we were missing Henley and Benedict. I thought it was a great game for entertainment value. We were good for the first period, terrible 2nd and 3rd period. We just have'nt got players of the same class and skill like the previous few seasons. People bang on about how badly we've been hit by injuries and yes, that has had a major impact on us but we never signed stars like Ling and Beauregard from the start. I don't get why people say those sort of players don't come along very often and we can't expect class like that every season. Those players are out there and if Neil Black was willing to splash the cash and allow Corey to sign them, we could have got them. I still think Neil's not spent the same as last season. He knows our grand slam success will bring the fans and cash in, we obviously spent a lot on last years squad. I think hes been more frugal this season. Don't think we missed Henley at all (I don't think it's possible) but big "O" looked a lot better and I have been his biggest critic. Kwall was good but most of the rest were lazy uninterested crap. Thank god that was the last Saturday of the season.

But then you have a system of a game constantly being stalled as hits are being 'avenged'. A clean hit doesn't deserve that. You respond by turning up your aggression generally. Hit back and fight for every puck hard. That's how it works in the Olympics. I don't want fights every 5 minutes. It cheapens the act. A fight should be a last resort and he something you can get behind for the right reasons, eg: a DIRTY hit!

So much criticism of the team but we were missing Benny, broken hand! Boxill injured. Werner, Francis, Lyons and Farmer not match fit having suffering from injuries. I don't think we've actually played the same lines each week due to the injuries and Sarri who was here by accident, and only to play in the CC has probably played more games than most.
Last season we got lucky with injuries and the team had time to gel and grow, it was shaky at the start of the season. This season we've been decimated by injuries and all things considered done well. I do think the CC drained some of the guys and would have cost, but I can't fault Neil Black, we've had more imports through the door than anyone else. Oh and where are all these top drawer players??? Oh yes they're in Europe making far more that the EIHL pay, so it's not so easy to get star players, and on paper what looks great might not be so; look at Shuff, on paper the squad is mouthwatering, on the ice it's average, at best!
