Can't say I'm surprised. Bet Finnerty is rolling with laughter.

This is confirmed on Steelers OS.
Popped over to Steeltalk earlier and judging by what i read, most of their fans will be happy with this.
I think Goertzen is talking over for now?

They could have at least waited until the challenge cup tie second leg was over!!
There is every chance they'll be competitive now!

What a circus To be honest it feels like the whole league has been a circus this year. Coaching changes and what feels like far more player changes.

Really not sure this is the correct move and more of a knee jerk reaction to appease the masses.

This club's vision on stability is about the same as their credit history. #JOKE #REACTIONISTHEBESTREACTION

Wow.
To be in Ryan Finnerty's mind right now.
Hopefully it won't galvanise them come Tuesday.

Cant be good for Team GB surely? Not that I care about GB hockey but this is a good point. Unless DC gets offered another job in the UK I can't see him hanging around and his acceptance of the GB job was likely no more than a vanity 'in addition to' project. Hopefully Neilson will stay well clear if he is offered the step up.

Also, with the situations in Cardiff, Coventry and now Sheffield, it makes me glad when fans have called for Corey's head, that they weren't listened to. Neil Black has never been one for rash decisions and it's only given us lots of benefits. Stability is under rated in this league.

Just read Steeltalk what a complete and utter farce this club and situation is. This is a coach that has won trophies in this league, this is a coach that pushed our incredible team from last season close in both league and playoffs.
The facts are Finnerty has improved Braehead this season after Steelers and Doug won trophies with the Giants before the Steelers. This says to me that the problems are within the Steelers organisation at present and not the coaches who they keep dropping like decent ones are so easy to find, especially when a season is 80% complete.

I shouldn't be surprised at them doing something unbelievably arrogant but I am.

What Steelers need most is a long term plan that extends to more than a season, that and a proper GM. They also need to refresh their Britpack which just isnt working for them. I would love to know how many players Doug actually had a hand in signing this season.

Some of the teams in the league are making serious money now and just like in any other sport if you don't deliver you have to go. Fact of life.

Always thought he was over rated. He is not a bad coach by any means, but I dont think he ever lived up to the hype.

So Panthers have already won the challenge cup semi-final? Last time I checked it was only 5-3 in the semi final, there is also the playoffs at the end of a season. I would like to think Big Doug has earned the right to one season at any club in the EIHL as he is a league winner and been always there or there abouts.

Didnt sell enough 50-50 tickets last night to cover his salary might be the reason....

Once upon a time perhaps. Last time I checked we thrashed them at ours then turned them over in theirs and none of their players looked like they were playing for the Coach. I think this sacking has been on the cards for a while and the other guy going to Coventry was part of it.

Its alright jerome29 its just TFS playing the cool guy again. He's as entitled to express his opinion of Doug's sacking as anyone else on here.
