What's Spencer going to do to make it more of a rivalry? Probably lay face down on the ice for a while

I think a big factor in the Sheffield games selling out is that they're the only ones advertised by the arena - they're the only Panthers games which are listed on their flyers, alongside all the concerts and shows. And the appeal to the occasional fan is probably more about the atmosphere than the game - the difference in even background noise between a 5,000 crowd and a 7,000 crowd is massive. Having said that, didn't we get about 6,000 for the last Coventry game? Add a couple of hundred extra away fans and there's not a lot in it. Yes, I think you did. Although, how much of that was swelled by the handshake punch up just a week before? But he (Grimaldi) wasnt playing!

What's Spencer going to do to make it more of a rivalry? Him and Henley clearly don't like or respect each other. So, if you want something that could re-ignite that missing spark, then those 2 maybe the ones to do it.

Henley offered him last time at your gaff, suprise, suprise, what happened? He said 'no thanks', carried on playing, and Steelers won the game. Your comments allude to him being scared of Henley. They've fought before. Spencer was one of the most frequent "heavyweight" (I hate to use that word but it applies) fighters in the AHL when he was there, I'm sure there were plenty of players just as tough as Henley in the AHL - what makes you think he's going to come over here and be scared of another player? Don't people realise that most of the time when a player (who is well known for fighting) turns down the opportunity to fight another player, it's all to do with timing or instructions from the coach. I don't think being scared comes into it. Except maybe with Drew Fata, who picks his opponents very wisely.

We've all seen players turn down fights, Spencer alluded to the fact that Henley would get it next game he did'nt. So he's gone from sgt to pvt.

^ Exactly. I meant it as an detrimental comment towards Fata, by the way.

If anyone is long overdue a good pasting it's him. Just as a matter of balance, whilst I do agree Fata sometimes does go for the smaller player, he's also fought some pretty tough guys over the years as his fight card shows. Colt King, Benn Olsson, Tom Sestito, Jeff Szwez, Kevin Harvey, Petr Kalus, Mike Rupp, Brett Clouthier and Adam Keefe to name just a few. You could hardly call any of them small. He's a genuine fighter if required, he's not the best, but to suggest he only goes after smaller guys is not true imo. dropyourgloves.com/fights/FightCard.aspx?P=6459In comparison Spencer has fought similar tough guys to Fata. Your own Salters, Henley and Oreskovic, he's also met Colt King, Adam Keefe, Nickerson, Adam Huxley, Kevin Harvey and a few bouts with Jon 'Nasty' Mirasty. dropyourgloves.com/Fights/FightCard.aspx?Player=18766I'm not sure their fight cards are that different in height and weight of opponent tbf.

I wouldn't doubt that at some point Fata did dance with genuine tough guys and renowned fighters.
It's history now though and during his time in the EIHL he seems to have shyed away from these guys (apart from a fight with Olsen last season?) and instead gone after the smaller/non fighting players. He comes across a bit playground bully to me.
I'd balance my view of Fata though by repeating that I don't have a problem with Spencer. Also quite liked Colt King in a begrudgingly respectful kind of way.

He was very nearly back this year.

"Also quite liked Colt King in a begrudgingly respectful kind of way." After the way he pinned Fox headfirst into the boards?

"Also quite liked Colt King in a begrudgingly respectful kind of way." After the way he pinned Fox headfirst into the boards? Come off it, Fox sold a dummy and King bought it. He got kicked out and Fox laughed at him then played on. He was hardly stretcher and a neck brace. Players get pinned, players get injured, players get kicked out. Nature of the beast. King played 61 games for Steeelers; scored 27 goals and had 25 assists to total 52 pts. So almost a point per game whilst also doing a very good job of looking after his team-mates. Steelers got it wrong with Mike Sgroi but had a good one in Colt King.

Big game from Kowalski to set the tone for the cup semi's.
Spencer to avoid Henley.
Fata to avoid Salters / Oreskovic.
Panthers to win 4-2.

They don't come round that often, so King was a great player for us. Agree with Ted here, Fox sold him the dummy and King paid for it. That was the only drawback with King, your players knew how to get inside his head. In all the games he played for us the only times he really lost it was when playing against you. Aside from that he was actually a very clean player. He would have been a great fit for us this year.

King was a great player as stated by Phil and one player who had character and skill and was tough as old boots. Would have loved to see him play in a panthers shirt but hey ho... didnt win many against panthers though did he?

If Lee and Benedict are back, then it's a huge improvement to the team.
More stability at the back with Lee, Jacina back into his forward role and Benedict's energy.
With another week behind him in the gym for the Big O, we could finally start to see more consistency and better results.

I know it's a long shot, but anyone got 2 tickets going for this match? Sister and her friend waited till today to phone the arena and ask for tickets! Cash waiting if anyone has.

Ted Logan "Come off it, Fox sold a dummy and King bought it. He got kicked out and Fox laughed at him then played on." I posted this on youtube and it was obvious (I took it off to prevent further Shuff insults). I really dont think that you are going to induce a full head on impact with the boards.

You can think what you like. I was commenting on the effectiveness of King to the Steelers. He was very good at what he did. Scored goals, made assists and looked after his team mates. You can judge him based on this one incident (even Jordan Fox dismissed it) if you wish but I prefer to look at his impact over the course of the season. He was very effective for Sheffield to put it mildly.
