One of the Black boys has tweeted:
"Cannot believe the crazy changes brought by the league, Nottingham voted against the change regarding imports"
So when are these "positive" developments going to be announced to us the paying fans? And is this an increase or decrease in imports, or neither?
I can't quite believe that changes are going to be made to the import levels a. after most Brits have already been signed and b. after I've paid for my season ticket.
But then nothing surprises me in this league - Simms was at the "board" meeting - says it all.
Does anyone know anything?

thought so (though it was only in january) www.eliteleague.co.uk/2012-13-season-p1756672012/13 SEASON January 26, 2012 Elite League press release The Rapid Solicitors Elite League wish to confirm that all playing rules, including the level of 10 imports, will remain the same for the 2012/13 season. Andy French, director of hockey operations, said: "We are now in the back half of an amazingly competitive season and at least three teams are right in the hunt for the Elite League title. "Two of the four teams who reached the Challenge Cup semi-finals are currently outside of the top three in the league and, at the bottom of the league, there is a terrific battle brewing to pick-up points in order to make the 2012 play-offs. "It’s really good news that we can already be looking ahead to next season with great confidence. Next month, we will announce the key dates for the 2012/13 campaign."

Does anyone know anything? Neil Black Jr, apparently. The plebs who coin up every year will be the last to know, you know that. It could be something like not allowing clubs to run with spare imports, like we used to do, rather than play 10 from however many you want? Who knows. No doubt we'll hear eventually (once the ST deadline's passed).

Well I can guarantee it'll be something that helps Steelers, Giants, Blaze and Devils and puts Panthers at a disadvantage.

Anything to benefit the inbreds. There imports will be like last year at this rate with the money they have paid for shields and meyers, $h1t

Well I can guarantee it'll be something that helps Steelers, Giants, Blaze and Devils and puts Panthers at a disadvantage. Spot on, we'll be out voted, like normal. I hope they've got rid of the import limit. But judging by the steelers signings I guess they'll lower it. Best lower the season ticket pice next season if they do.

I may be way off the mark here, is this something to do with having a set number of imports from the Euro zone this season? ......

Why wouldn't panthers want that though ? Im not sure, im just speculating. I just can't see the league adjusting the limit either way having stated in January that import levels would remain the same. And as somebody has already pointed out, teams are now recruiting, its too late to move the goal posts.

Yh I see what you mean stargazer. Although I wouldn't put anything past the league to change it so soon. I just can't think what it could be about imports that panthers wouldn't agree with other than lowering it mmmm I suppose we will find out soon .

That, coupled with the fact that Simsey seeems to have the heads-up and Steelers already have more than enough Brits makes me feel nervous. Having said that I still don't see how the league can go back on the limits they set, especially at this stage. Also, the mid to lower end league teams would not benefit from a reduction at all.

If its a change to import levels and Panthers arn't happy it will be because the league are reducing it.
Neil Black wants to increase it because he reckons thats why we now have to pay silly wages to average players like Danny Meyers when we could get the equivalent import for far less money.

Can't quite believe some of the stuff I've just read on here.
Steeltalk would be proud of this thread.

Can't quite believe some of the stuff I've just read on here. Steeltalk would be proud of this thread. Im pretty sure alot of this is tongue-in-cheek Robbo. I can't see the league reducing import numbers, the time has come and gone for that. It would also have an impact on the quality of hockey that we all pay to see. Personally I think the balance is right at 10. The fact is that if (and its a huge 'if') the import level was to be lowered, it would only be the Steelers that benefit from such a move having signed NINE british players already. If an annoucement was to be made (and I don't think it will) the wage demands of an average British player would go through the roof with Finner and Simmsey sat at their desks congratulating each other on a job well done.

If that were the case we would just have to respond by getting even better imports than whatever is planned.
