Didn't hammer him been honest but if it's down to number of punches and accuracy then Clouthier just has the edge...but i called a bore draw on the night myself looking at it straight away...not a patch on the Voth fight
I thought Hewitts fight was better

I was edging it toward Shmyr... First punch + last punch + ending up on top = marginal win....
Looking at the video its hard to call an actual winner.

WHO CARES!!! did it really change the outcome of the game? did they go on to score GWG or even a goal or even god forbid an assist that would help to win the game? Oh god no, but they slugged it on in the first minute so what!!! anyone would think that this is what hockey is about dragging this thread on for what 14 pages now.... get a life, it really doesnt matter who got the most punches on target or hit the hardest or took the other player to the ice or even turned down a fight later on.....
Fights can be a good spectacle but surely its not what the game is all about but you might think it with all the opinions and slomo replays and still shots etc etc on here...

But Texpef has a point (no, don't faint Tex) - maybe not about whether people should talk so much about it (free choice there) but certainly about the pointlessness of it.
And come on - fighting like that inside of a minute of the game starting? Talk about pre-arranged (was that what Shmyr was discussing with Carson just before the game started?) - what's the point in it? It was pantomime, nothing more... I mean - I can appreciate that wading in with the fists might sometimes be needed (especially when the ref lets the opposition get away with murder) - but a pre-arranged bout like that, without even the excuse of a recent grudge (a la Nieckar/Allison)... pointless. Pointless and pathetic.

Talk about pre-arranged (was that what Shmyr was discussing with Carson just before the game started?) From what I heard Cloots told Carson before the match that he wanted to "take Shmyr out of the game" on the first shift!! So when the game was about to start, Carson went to Shmyr and told him and asked Ryan if he was going to fight him and if he was if he would "get it out of the way" early!!

Tex go and get some sleep or something, does everyone care that youve got this obsession with Gustavsons hit? No but we read it and are civil, some people are intresting in mind games, toughness or just the fight itself, why dont those people have as much right as you to post?
Shaggy your sounding like an old record, the panthers vs steelers games wudnt be the same without fights, attendances would be down so just take it as being good for that yeh? Whats the point? The point is both guys wanna be the toughest in the league, they want their team to be number in the tables but also represent their badge and be the toughest guy in the league. Or would you rather we brought back turtle Bowen and his sidekick Shell Sebastian and get pushed around and injured all season?

Oh I agree Texpef, the point being that instead of saying "Great fight, good draw" Sheffield fans (In particular) have picked it apart and said "well you can see Shmyr Flinch after a punch so Clouts won" instead of just appreciating why it happened and that it was a good fight

It's a bit rich (no pun intended) for you to tell people that others have as much right to post as him, whilst at the same time telling him to get some sleep and telling me I'm like an old record.... No - I don't want to see our players pushed around like last season. Where did I say that? Just because I don't see the point in the pantomime of a pre-arranged fight does not mean to say that I don't want some toughness on the team. Shmyr is prepared to unleash the fists IF NECESSARY to defend team-mates, and I appreciate and value that. But two tough guys - both of whom already know that they are both tough - wanting to 'see who is the toughest'? It's a bit childish, yes? Especially since we all know that when you get to a certain level, there's a decent chance of either of them being able to come out on top. There's a large middle ground between not wanting any toughness and in wanting to see two tough guys duke it out just for the sake of it - please don't fall into the trap of only seeing the extremes.

I didnt say you should stop posting Shaggy, just your posts are predictable and that I disagree. You have your opinion but you asked questions which I answered Fair comment re extremes but Clouthier has been saying for months since he signed how it will be fight night when we play, Shmyr has been skating round like king kong so something had to give. I think now alot of things have been resolved there wont be anything as pre planned between the teams anymore. out of intrest who do you blame as the instigator and who was "Pathetic"?
