Even though we lost I feel happier with our teams performance than I would if I was a steelers fan. Without the usual extra support from the ref they were bad. The first two periods,(until the incident with McAslan) they were terrible. Tessier, no thanks, he's a totally different player than last season. This incident was the turning point, allowing them to go unpenalised was incredible and simply Carson lost it at that point. Thought every player played well tonight, can't say I was diasppointed with any of them. And Cloutier, I thought the league were supposed to be afraid of him, is that the best he can do! As I say, I feel happier being a Panthers fan at this point that I would if I was a Steeler.

A page too late but going back to scottgirlie's comment about CC being there tonight, Scott Ricci and Phil Hill were at the Hull match on Wednesday, don't read too much into these things! Remember that CC's lady wife is originally from Nott'm so they could be staying down here, who knows! I couldn't be at the match tonight but got many mixed reports as people were leaving the arena! Had a text about McAslan and then had kids telling me about McAslan missing his penalty shot so I was left confused as to what had actually occured with that! Wish I could have seen it all for myself though!!

I know he is capable of making some good saves but I also get SO nervous everytime anyone gets near our goal! And i had no confidence in him saving any Penalty Shots.

sundberg our cup winning netminder let in the most shocking goals of all time against the belfast giants from just inside the giants end

This incident was the turning point, allowing them to go unpenalised was incredible and simply Carson lost it at that point. What incident are we talking about? Anyone who says that Carson was biased in favour of the Steelers must be sucking on sour grapes I'm afraid. You guys had a good number of five on three's and some of the penalties he called against us were shocking. The check by Sarich where he fell into your guy was called as boarding. Shocking!! Hip check by Darby at waist height called as tripping. Shocking call again!! Yes he was appalling, dreadful etc but not in favour of one team I'm afraid so put the conspiracy theories to bed. Bottom line is we were very lucky and on any other night you would have killed us. Blaming the ref however is laughable.

Penalties were 37 mins on Nottingham, 55 mins on Sheffield. The Panthers also had around 5 minutes of powerplay both 5 on 4 and 5 on 3 in the final 10 minutes. I think thats when the game was lost!

For the first 2 periods, I was happy with the Panthers performance tonight. For the 3rd period, I think the McAslan incident was the turning point. Hope he is OK.
With respect to Carson, I do not want to comment, however, have 2 questions;
1. Can anyone confirm the rumours I heard after the game that he travelled with the Steelers on their coach to the game?
2. Question to Dave Page - Do you know what Carson was doing looking at the pictures from the Steelers photographer (on the Steelers bench - during the ice dancing) at the end of the first period? My only guess was that the Steelers wanted to show him something regarding one of our goals. Maybe it was their complaints of a player in the crease. If it was regarding the goal, could this have influenced any of his decisions later?

I could see there 4th coming, we sat back when we should not soak up pressure!
There PP was worst then ours I thought... Tessier seemed there main man,he did'nt have a bigger impact then I thought he would.
If a non Panther/Steeler watched tonights game, was a great game for them had pretty much everything.

Great effort this time but still Steelers come back at us.
Perhaps knowing what will happen to us when we play Sheffield means these games should be the extras (off ST) instead of the Hull games. Those that hate the fate could stay away.
You just know it's going to happen. But I still really want us to beat them In the CUP games.
I would not put my money on us winning in penalties. Whoops, there it goes through my legs again. I am stunned again.

Very much doubt it. More likely his missus if what I hear on the grapevine is true. Shall we say Andy has the bed to himself at the moment

You were the better team tonight, we came from nowhere. I would have thought the Cloots win would have got our lot going TBH but it didn't.
Those have got to be the 3 worst penalty calls I have ever seen, not one true pen between them!
Hope McAslan is back quick sharp and I'm glad to see nobody making a big song and dance about what was a clean hit. I had the perfect view and his skate seemed to catch an edge and his leg got twisted.
Dunno what else to say really, I'm chuffed to bits don't get me wrong but I can sympathise totaly after seeing my lot chuck a lead last week. An entertaining game in the end one that you bossed TBH.
Edited to add. Carson has travelled with us before and probabley will again. He lives up our way.

How BAD is our Powerplay? !!!! Also, if we were 4-1 down, does anyone honestly think we would pull it back like Sheffield did?? 7 losses on the bounce.............sort it out Ellis well maybe if we had two penalty shots to get us back in the game. not like panthers havn't come back from been down, we were 3-1 down in the first game of the season and look what happend 2points out of 8 but we did boss the steelers and phoenx matchs pretty much from start to finish and i don't have any doubts that next weekend we will progress past steelers in the CC

anyway that threat of changes looks like it will probably happen now, notbecause of the loss of the game but what i would imagine will be the loss of McAslan

The best team lost, simple as. Wasted far too much powerplay, one of our best players appeared to be slewed by Gustavson, and after a verbal assault by those wonderful Steeler fans Carson seemed hell bent on helping Sheffield claw back the scoreline. His overall performance however was diabolical, making bad calls both ways. All the penalty shots were laughable. Not too disappointed tonight, we lost on penalties but were much improved from previous games and obviously a better outfit than Sheffield. The rub of the green and the game would have been ours.
P.S. All those Steeler fans cheering while McAslan was helped from the ice, real classy.

Carson seemed hell bent on helping Sheffield claw back the scoreline. At 4-3 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd this is a run down of the penalties... 51.27 - Regan Darby 2 minutes tripping (5 on 4 PP) 53.00 - Ian Manzano 2 minutes hooking (5 on 3 PP) 54.18 - Regan Darby 2 minutes elbows (5 on 3 PP again) 55.26 - Ian Manzano 2 minutes interference (5 on 3 PP again) Just exactly what game were you watching?
