Good match probobly the best this season, and as for the score it doesn't bother me too much I'm just glad Ellis' talks worked out! They didnt work because if they did we wouldn't have blown a 4-1 lead. Also are powerplay sucks!!!! so many 5 on 3 chances not taken.

Curtis Cruickshank was at the game tonight wonder what he was doing there. I thought that we had won the game at 4-1 but didn't come up. i thought Matt Myers's goal was the best i'v ever seen. hopefully we'll see them improve even more for the next two games against them.

Great Match!!!! Unlucky to lose but wot was Ellis thinking given myers a pen shot ???Also any1 see a reason carson gave them two penalty shots? Should of won instead of blowing a 4-1 lead and if we expect to get past Steelers in the Challenge Cup then improvement is needed i think. !SHMYR OWNS ALL! ;D with a half decent ref we will have no problem next week with the steelers, we were by far the better team we ever we were equal handed. even on the PK sometimes you had to count the players to make sure we were on the PK

yes we blew a 4-1 lead, but our players looked tired, very tired. not an excuse to lose 3-0 deposit but myers why did he take a penalty. can't understand it, he can't do it! emersic or clarke i can understand but myers. he has 1 trick, the backhand, which he is awful at doing. it really annoys me when steelers come back from a "sure lead". why doesn't ellis say, "come on matt, hurry up and graduate, we're sending u to play in wales". My friend thisiswhere (david) as soon as myers come to take his penalty shot had his head in his hands. Yes he scored a cracking goal, but that was it, the rest of the time he trys that sort of thing it comes up to bite him in the butt.

Definately one was not as we had a player covering. The same in football when it's a red card for last man. In a way we was robbed, we owned Steelers for 2 periods, we had their cards marked, but blew it be it by luck or just fate. Roll on next weekend!

Think there were a lot of positives to be taken from the game tonight, way better performance than the previous two I have seen, but we need to get the powerplay sorted - technically minus one for 13 (as Sheffield scored on the penalty shot whilst shorthanded) - which is really not good enough.
Having said that, it was great to see the lads back to something approaching their previous form, and apart from the last 15 minutes I really enjoyed the game, and as previously posted, Matty's goal was fabulous! Think the Sheffield players just got dizzy trying to follow him round the ice!
Jodie had a great game (sadly!) and you gotta wonder if a bit of complacency set in at 4-1, which I hope won't happen again, because for the first 40 mins we were definitely the better side but then took our foot off the gas and couldn't find the pedal again.
Hope McAslan is okay - what a great find he has been, nowt flashy but miss him when he's not playing.
Reffing was okay all in all, comedy moment when Sheffield fans were chanting "You're a Panther in disguise" at him, so he gave them a penalty shot! Villain to hero in 10 seconds flat!
All in all, well done Sheffield for not giving up, and well done Panthers for improving your game!

Well our players need shooting!!!
Evan Lindsey sucked tonight!!! Tessiers Penalty Shot was from MILES out and Evan didnt even move!!!! Mozanos goal wasnt even a shot, it was a pass!!
Why did Myers take a Penalty shot??
Carson wants shooting for disallowing our SECOND disallowed goal!! Lehman didnt spilled it and we scored, we were robbed again!!
Clouthier has a YMCA/Blue Oyster Bar Beard!!
Why oh WHY did we throw that away!!!!!!

My only dissapointment tonight was giving away the tie up goal with 50 seconds to go.
Could have had the game won by them.
No doubt the forums both here and in Shuff land will be filed with Carsons performance tonight, but personally although he spoiled what was an entertaining match, I wont blame him for the defeat.
Oh well its a point more than many on the forum predicted, and the first two periods gave signs of the Panthers showing some commitment and team ethic again.

Id say we the reason why we managed to throw a good win away is we have no power play! Its awful to watch. We seem to forget we need to play for 3 periods, the 1st cracking the 2nd foot of the gas near the end and the 3rd shocking. We let an average Steelers team right back in it. This is a big game lost.
As for Carson, you know what ya getting. Hes poor always will be.

Carson had a good enough game.......IMHO the best ref in the league overall.
Great to hear the music when Tessier took his penalties - a good laugh all round. However Tessier had the last laugh when he stepped up and scored in the shootout which kept the Steelers in it for sudden death. Somehow I knew then it was all over for Panthers.
Even the wrong result didn't spoil it for me....the game had just about everything that is " the experience of hockey" contained in it. Would have been great for any first timers going.

I'd say a draw too. But a BORING draw at that! If you're going to wait that long to get into it, at least make it an entertaining scrap! You're powerplay wasn't as bad as you think. To be fair, you were taking the shots (which is more than we do) but the D tended to get in the way of everything. Added to the fact Jody stood on his head... And 'The Andy Carson Comedy Show' was purely hilarious at times. That second penalty shot to us, when Tait was 'hooked' was an absolute joke! I was nearly in stitches when he gave that. The other two PS were also VERY dubious. Panthers seemed to lose their way when McAslan went off injured. Clean hit from Gustavson (the only thing he did all night) but McAslan's leg didn't go with the momentum. (if that makes sense ) All in all, a lot of pride shown by the Steelers, which was clearly missing in the first 2 periods. And one rocket of a goal from the Welshy Phillips! ;D

How BAD is our Powerplay? !!!! Also, if we were 4-1 down, does anyone honestly think we would pull it back like Sheffield did?? 7 losses on the bounce.............sort it out Ellis

Quite possibly the strangest game I've ever been to.
When we were four one down I was half wishing you were gonna give us a right hammering and force us into making some personnel changes. Having won the game I'm not too sure how to feel. Obviously I'm pleased to get the points but I cant help thinking this result has papered over the cracks of a very poor team.
I thought your guys played well and I wouldnt be surprised to see you there or there abouts come the end of the season. Simoes is some player by the way. I think Gustavson is supposed to be doing the same job for us so maybe he's picked up a few pointers.
The Cloots fight I thought was a draw. Neither players managed to really get anything going before they fell to the ice. Doubt we've seen the end of that one. Still think that Cloots is playing injured as after the fight he didnt seem to get on much and when he did he didnt look fit.
As for the referee what can I say. The guy made a pure shambles of things as he does every time. Calling perfectly legal hits and penalty shots every five minutes isn't what I pay for every week. The only saving grace was that he was shocking for both teams. He shouldnt be allowed to ref a Sheff Notts game again until he proves his competance.

Would have been great for any first timers going. I agree - shame I took a newbie family to Wednesday's game really Couldn't persuade them to come back for this one... Horrified at throwing away that lead, but relieved to see that we've found the Panthers again. We really missed Sean McAslan once he went off, didn't we? Hope he comes back soon.

Tonight was a very entertaining game, we came out fast and to be honest at 4-1 desrved the lead. But credit sheffield they dug deep in the third to pull it back.
A few points of note though...
1. None of the 3 Pen shots given were pen shots
2. Carson gave his strange decisions both ways, calling Moran for 'unsportsmanlike conduct' when he fought Hewitt... eh? Just trying to 'even' the call out methinks.
3. Tess and sutter were poor i thought, Phillips and Maltby had good games for the steelers as did Jody
4. Mike...please please please get Evan practicing Penalty shots, he is rubbish at the them! and 5. we should have killed the game off with all the PP in the 3rd......

I think Moran's extra penalty was for his shirt not being tied down. See, I guess it was Moran who was fighting as I couldn't see the name on his shirt! Whoever it was handed Hewitt's butt on a plate!

Well welcome to the Andy Carson show!
Mod Edit. You can critisise all you like but you can't make claims like that without any proof!! Still no excuse for letting a 4-1 lead go against a VERY poor Steelers team. I've never seen a team struggle to clear the puck out the zone as many times as they did tonight. They looked clueless in every area. One of the worst defences I've seen and very little going forward.
I hate to say this because I think he's played well recently, but, if Cruicker was watching tonight and would come back to us 100% motivated then I think it's time to make a change...

Talk in the bar afterwards was that McAslan was possibly ligament injury. Not good news if true as he might take a while to recover
