Great game and performance, i never thought at any stage that we were going to lose, even at 1-1 we looked better than the devils. Cardiff were dangerous on the break out and at times had us pinned ino ur zone but couldnt keep ot together long enough to cause us real problems.
Was amusing how Clarkie was after his goal so much, he didnt want to come off the ice until he'd scored, and what a goal it was ;D. Lindsey did his job, made some good saves and deserved his MOM i think.
My other highlights were Simoes crunching Dion whenever he had the chance, a ref letting the game flow and the sound system! Its working again i can hear things properly which makes a nice change.
Good crowd again probs about 4,500, good atmosphere as well, all in all a great night, im missing next saturdays game so hopefulyl we can keep it up!

What happened at the end of the game? I couldn`t see it from where I sit,all I saw was Simoes skating off after and he looked a bit "ruffled"as if he`d been fighting Bit of argy bargy right in front of us (which Froch enjoyed - he was standing behind us at the time). Only call was Darling for elbows.

I've just been away from the weekend and was just wondering was there any fights on Saturday. I heard it was a good game though.

Erm yes....McAslan and Voth went, as you can tell from this thread. I took the video down though as I really don't wanna get in trouble with the Panthers at the minute.

How would you all rate Mr Cloutman? Been wanting him in the Elite for a while. Just hope he stays and we can ditch Hicks. (Edited for typo's) I groaned when he was announced but was very pleasantly surprised by his performance. Thought he called a good game and found little to fault him on. The players helped - not much in the way of interference play - they seem to be learning how to roll opponents rather than interfere - which made for an open game with plenty of chances. The way Cloutman called it was the sensible face of ZT - he let a bit go which helped the game flow. I suppose there's always a risk in doing that - players may try and exploit it and start the interference play again. He didn't see the high stick by Lyndsay (nor did I) but gave the penalty after hearing from his linesman - I've no problem with that. Another incident of note was when he annulled a penalty he called against a Cardiff player for dissent, when he realised the player was expressing his frustration with his team mates not the linesman. Sensible refereeing in my book. As for the game - most enjoyable, an open end to end affair. My first sight of Panthers this season but I like (most) of what I saw. Simoes is impressive - what a work rate. Hits hard and often but then gets back quickly to his position on the ice and worked very hard at both ends of the rink - looks a top signing. The defence is a bit worrying - half of them take up good positions...... unfortunately at the wrong end of the rink at the wrong time! Ah well, at least the hockey won't be dull! ;D Evan Lyndsay will take a bit of getting used to. He squares up well to the shooting lanes but doesn't have the rebound control of CC. Our D need to clear the rebounds PDQ which could be a problem given the attacking frame of mind with some of them. That said, EL won us the game in the 2nd period when we were heavily outshot but took the period 1-0. I like this season's David Clarke - Elly knows what makes him tick and seems to be getting the best out of him. All things being equal he'll be one of the best forwards in the League this season. Anyway, a cracking game of hockey - if the rest of the season is in that mould I'll be a very happy punter!

A game i thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish, a few moments of heart stopping plays but thats down to the nature of our style of play.
Clarke has come back a better player than he was in the 03/03 season, a lot faster, sharper and alot more HUNGRIER !!.
Im loving those coast to coast moves by big Jan.
Smhyr well impressed me too, becoming very useful on the kill now too as is Mcaslan who just keeps excelling, keep it up.
Now for the Simmer, this guy checks like its going out of fashion , that first minute hit on DD was awesome, the first of 5 i think, echoing what someone else has said, i do beleive he is becoming a lot more effective than Cote, my fav of last season, but Stevies all round game is really standing out he must stay healthy all season for us to have sucess i feel.
EL i thought was immense when we needed him especially at 1-1, came up with some massive stops, hopefully now shutting up some of those critics.
Impressed withthe Devils going forward but i think our depth shone threw in the end. Keep up this great team work guys.

What a great game!!
Darling was OWNED by Simoes!! At the end, Simoes hit another check and I think Dion had had enough and grabbed Simoes, as did another Cardiff Player. I was looking for Shmyr but he was on the bench.
Have lost all respect for Voth. Wasnt up to any of his usual antics and was scared of Shmyr and would only take on McAslan after appearing to elbow him in the face as he checked him.
The check on Shmyr by #91 was awesome but fair play to Ryan for getting up and carrying on with his game rather than going and cheap shotting the guy, a la Payette, Cornish etc.......
Clarkie was AMAZING!!
