Hey Newham, how can you say Evan wasn't worthy of MoM, he made some cracking saves and kept us in it in the middle period. you will have to get used to his style, he makes the saves by clearing the puck to a safer part of the ice. Different to Cruickshank who was more of a glove man. As posted previously there is "something special" on our ice at the moment. I have been a fan since '98 and I don't recall such tremendous team spirit on any other Panthers team, they play together and work for each other superbly. To have any team pinned in their own zone for over two minutes when playing even-handed is incredible, we did that tonight against an unbearen team. We finally got to see some big stuff from the checking machine that is Steve Simoes - Dion Darling will be seeing him in his sleep tonight. We ( Gill & Me) usually analyse the game on the drive back home, tonight we couldn't find ANY negatives. BTW, TeddyC, booing -no matter who it is - is not right. It only spurs the opposition on anyway.

Fantastic game tonight, work ethic and team spirit to the fore once more but no small amount of skill and ability on show. Panthers best game so far in my opinion, Cardiff look a well sorted team who will trouble whoever they play, so a cracking victory. Thought the booing was a bit classless, why boo Cardiff? If it was for Dion Darling, why? The bloke hasn't dumped on us or stabbed us in the back, he's moved on after apparently not being wanted by the Panthers.

Not sure for certain but saw the ref indicating a elbow penalty. Darling seemed pretty upset by something . Didn't see the penalty being called but it looked like a high elbow to the face of Simoes I think anyway it doesn't matter becuase we won again!

Can I just say how well the Brits are playing I have never seen such a strong playing set of British guys as I have this season since the Import laws was relaxed at the start of the Super League. They all seem to put in 110% every shift playing alongside quality players and that must be a big part due to Mike & Calle

I'm not going to criticise EL 'cos overall I think he's done a good job...
...however...
...compare how most Goalies seem to deflect a shot to either side if it hits their stick to how EL meets the puck with a flat stick and rebounds it straight back in front of himself. He could get picked up on this as the season progresses.
McAslan v Voth - isn't Voth meant to be a 'hard man'? Didn't seem it tonight.
Shmyr - still trying to find a dancing partner, but no-one seems interested.
All the Brit players - what a difference it seems to make to have a Coach who gives them proper Ice time and trusts them. How well would Scott have done this year given the chance?

to keep the trend going - a fantastic game
1 - i feel EL deserved his MOM as he made some stunning stops and certainly kept us in it 2 - I really am feeling confident for something this season - ok its a good start, but we are grinding out results and never giving up - isnt this what contenders do?? 3 - ME/CC advised they were going to concentrate on "D", and by the looks of it they have, not half as many breakaways or odd man rushes etc - but a couple and on one EL made a cracking save. 4 - the brits, i am in total agreement with the above post - at last we have a coaching setup that is using them as part of the team proper and its adding value 5 - Great crowd tonight and in truth a great game for a lot of first timers? - only bodes well for the future 6 - The Zamboni - before the start of the first period i thought the steering wheel and throttle had locked up and he semed to be going round and like a good un!!
Cracking game panthers and good luck tonight.

Not sure for certain but saw the ref indicating a elbow penalty. Darling seemed pretty upset by something . I think DD was upset because Simoes checked somebody (not sure who) hard into the glass in the very last second of a game being won by 2 goals. Can't blame him DD though because if it was the other way round I'd certainly want one of our players to politely ask "why did you need to do that

I really cant see what the problem with EL was. He let out the rebounds and we picked them up.
As I said his rebounds are more directed now to either open ice or to one of our players.
That 'soft goal' was more a freak accident than anything. Im not blaming him at all for it.
Just roll on tonight!

How would you all rate Mr Cloutman? Been wanting him in the Elite for a while. Just hope he stays and we can ditch Hicks.

I thought he was pretty good, let some really good clean hits stand (unlike others), a few hic ups but contributed to a very entertaining game

To be honest Nemesis i thought we had done away with ZT last night, imho loads of cheapshots, holding hooking etc by BOTH clubs, obviously realised they could, didnt really detract too much from the game and it didnt go on into the early hours, oh and the best team still won....

It was Dion theading his stick all the way through Simoes Shirt infront of their net that didnt get called that confused me! He got it so tangled up he had to drop it!
As said, last night was a good balance, wasnt all this stop start but he kept control. Let Voth and McAslan go longer than I thought he would as well

(Edited for typo's) Nem, when his named was announced before the game, I must admit my heart sank. He reffed our challenge game against Romford and he was awful that night. But, apart from being suckered by Cardiff into giving Lindsay a 2+2 for accidental high sticks when he hadnt seen the incident, he was pretty good. He allowed checking throughout the game (which for Simones is an important part of his game), and did let the game flow. Most importantly however, unlike some refs who could be mentioned, he did seem to want to ref the game totally impartially, and not make a name for himself, which was refreshing. HL

first of all brilliant game, really enjoyed it and im at the point where the next game cant come soon enough!!
lost alot of respect for Voth, taking on McAslan but turning down Shmyr twice. McAslan showed hes got guts but was outmuscled and id put it at draw/edge Voth as he was the aggressor and although they only landed one punch each Voths had alot more force behind it. got to have respect for Mcaslan sticking up for himself though.
Shmyr, i like him more and more as the game goes on and i think after four season weve finally got a replacement for Baz, maybe not as physically intimidating but theres still plenty of time, hes now offered out Voth Campbell Gomez Cruikshanks and O'Keefe, i really wish someone would fight him!!
Simoes was brilliant again, all over the ice and pretty much unstoppable, didnt think we'd do it but this guy is even better than Cote. the hit he put on Darling was a cracker and he really felt it to say hes quite a bit bigger, the man is a walking talking train!! expect to see a few scraps from him.
Neillson again was brilliant but would like to see his agressive side a bit more.
Clarke, well is this guy ever going to stop scoring, hes the best British player at the minute and imo could well become a legend not just for Panthers but GB too.
altogether a great team performance against an unbeaten side, roll on tonight!!

First of all the two texts i recieved from Panthers fans stated Acaslan wanted to go and Voth obliged. Which either way is a smart move, who would the Devils want to take out of the game more Shmyr or Mcaslan? But as i said Fights arent important for me really, we have been rather disciplined with them this season. Im more worried about weather we can make a sustained title challenge this season. And i have heard from a few panthers fans that they think we can, which is encouraging given our tough start to this season on the road!

Well considering MP said ti was okay to post links to photos I have done so hosted on my own photoalbum, not on Panthers Online. smg.photobucket.com/albums/v410/fluffyfred/Panthers%20Vs%20Devils/I enjoyed the game, it had the best all round performance from the team this season, even though we are only 3 home games in. Simoes will really shine, he also looks like he could handle himself and was gonna give 'The Granny', oops the 'The Daddy' a good scrap. Put him in his place twice with two monster checks. Can't say a bad thing about any of the team last night, the whole TEAM were awesome. It's really nice to see.....Game on tonight.

To be honest Gazza, out of our games so far this season Devils and Giants have been 2 of the more 'complete' teams we have faced.
Caps had the speed but werent physical enough, Bison just couldnt seem to get it together.
I saw Hull and Steelers pre season (not a real judge of either team TBH), Steelers were without their muscle but Hull looked very fast, much like Caps a 'Euro' team.
Devils had a bit of everything... including Smith 91? i think, knocked Schmyr flat on is backside!

your definitely right Gazza but just disappointed me how he wouldnt go with Shmyr. to be honest looking at it from a Devils point of view it was a good move.

well it should of been a high sticking penalty even if he did see it, as he was playing the puck and if you are shooting the puck and your stick comes up high on the follow through and catches them in the face you shouldn't be given a penalty

TBH I think Cloutman did a good job last night, we went for the hockey and we werent disappointed, he didnt interfere with the game. That said he made a couple of bad calls and have a missed something... has ZT been scrapped?!
