Will there be many SSsec there? Showsec Security don't do Lions games.

Here's a thought... Please bear in mind that this is NOT 'inside information' due to my contacts with the Lions management (which are minimal - I's just a gofer on game nights when all's said & done) just my own guesswork... but this could be the perfect opportunity for the fans to try to help influence matters. In the past, we've asked here on the Cage what fans would want from the Lions to encourage them to attend games, and by far the most common answer was - play Lions games in the main arena. Which simply doesn't happen except in unusual circumstances such as these... the Lions can't afford it most of the time, and the NIC prefer to have other activities on there, even when there aren't any big events. BUT... if there's a good showing from fans on Saturday- and I mean a really good turnout, a few hundred - there could be a chance that the powers that be may sit up and take notice... and that there may be a greater willingness in the future to have Lions games in the main arena. Not every game, that's for sure... but maybe some more... a few, even several per season? So... if you want to make a difference, if you want to have some influence on how things may shape up in the future - now's your biggest chance. And you get Saturday night hockey in the main arena for only a fiver! Bring a friend... bring two, bring three... bring 'em all! It's worth a try...

Should be good. Do we get a choice of blocks, or will I expect be confined to one or two blocks, if so which blocks do you know?
Beer priced at £3.70, no thank you. I went to Milton keynes v peterboro last Saturday & I was happy enough to pay "southerner" rate of £2.70 at their rink bar..
Could you/do you advetise the "Lions games" during Panthers games? So advetise the weekend games, during Panthers Friday night game against the Caps.

Should be good. Do we get a choice of blocks, or will I expect be confined to one or two blocks, if so which blocks do you know? It's usually Block 15, and then adjacent blocks in the event of there being more people... which would be nice! (hint, hint ) We can but ask...

So it's just pay on the door and sit where you like (within block 15) presumably?

I think I'll be coming down for this too. I know a couple of the players and really should have made the effort before now. Maybe this is the push I need.

Aw, this is one of the reasons why I'd like to live a bit closer to the NIC, but as a teacher and putting the expense aside, there just isn't enough time in most weekends to go to hockey 3 nights, get all my schoolwork done, and other essential stuff like food shopping. Disappointed.

Lions won 4-1. Thank-you to all those who came down for the game last night... far less than we were hoping, it was a bit disappointing... but there's always the game against Sheffield Spartans tonight (Olympic Rink, 7:30pm) - they are badly going to want to beat us, as we are a few points ahead of them in 3rd place... Sheffield will want to keep ahead of Blackburn & the Northern Stars for the final play-off spot, but would no doubt want to avoid a 4th-place finish... whoever ends up there faces Whitley in the semis! And, of course, we always want to beat Sheffield...

5-0 to the Lions tonight.
Good game, with a bit of an edge to it as well.
60 minutes of determination is always good to see.

If anyone wants to stay on after the Final, the Lions take on Telford Titans this evening in the Olympic Rink at 7.30.
Unfortunately due to limitations placed on us by the Box Office we're unable to offer any discounts on tickets, but prices are £5/£4/£3.

Lions have won their final game of the season 6-2, and confirmed their place as runners up in the League for the 2nd year running.
It wasn't the best game in the world, and the Lions definately didn't try hard!
We will be playing the Coventry ENL Blaze in the Playoffs, as soon as we have confirmed dates then they will be posted here - however it is unlikely to be next weekend as the EPL Finals are in Coventry!

Nottingham Lions will be playing Coventry ENL Blaze in a 2-legged Playoff Semi-Final.
The First leg of the Semi will be held at the Coventry Skydome on Sat 16/04, face off 5pm. The Second leg will be the following Sunday, 24th April at 7.30 and will be on the Olympic pad.
If the Lions beat Coventry they will face the winners of the Blackburn Hawks vs. Whitley Warriors tie, we have a provisional date of Sunday May 8th at 5.30pm (Please note earlier Face off time!).

It's pay on the door, and tickets are sold at the box office round the back - I believe it's where you also pay for skating.
Should be a good game - Lions have come out of Coventry with a 1-1 tie in the first leg.

I've had word from Coventry & they are pushing this game quite hard, and I think that we're going to see one of the biggest crowds the Lions have had for a long time.
I know it's Easter Sunday and people might have other plans, but if you have a couple hours free on Sunday night then please come & support the Lions! As I posted before, the tie is level at 1-1, and Richard Griffiths played the game of his life to keep the score down - in fact Coventry took until nearly 54 minutes to get the game-tying goal!
Game will face off around 19.30 - there's an Under 10's game on before hand - and tickets are sold from the Box Office on the day of game only. Doors should open around 19.00 but may be earlier if the U10 game finishes early and we get the rink clear.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 Concessions, £3 Under-16.
Whitley beat Blackburn in the 2nd leg, so if we do get past Coventry then we will be playing the Warriors in the Final of the North playoffs, and the winner of that will play either Chelmsford Chieftains or Isle of Wight Raiders in the Playoff Finals.

Lions lost last night on penalty shots - 5-4. Coventry opened the scoring at 1.23 and by the end of the 2nd they were 3-1 ahead. Lions pulled it to 4-4 with just 90 seconds of the game left to take it to OT. Blaze got a penalty after 31 seconds of OT, but the Lions were unable to score and the game went to Penalties.
Thank you to all that came last night & that was the biggest crowd we've ever had at a Lions game.. It was a shame that there were more Coventry fans than Nottingham ones, but those that did come I hope you enjoyed the game.
That's it for the 2010/11 season now, we'll be back in September 2011. Keep an eye out on the Cage for news of players and League news.
