Warriors win 4 - 3, and barring a miracle will take the title.

Bugger! The only way for the Lions to win the title now is for them to win both of their remaining games (at home vs Blackburn and then at home vs Sheffield) which aren't going to be easy games - the Sheffield game especially - and for Whitley to drop at least one point in their remaining game. Unfortunately, that last game for the Warriors is against the basement-dwelling Kingston Jets... which you'd think would be an easy win for Whitley, seeing as they've already beaten them 10-2, 11-0 and 11-2 this season! As thepride says... it's going to take a miracle for the Lions to win it now.

We're all gutted. The bus home last night was quite a strange place to be at first.. However that was a cracking game of hockey - one of the best I've seen all season and really neither team deserved to lose that one!
The final goal was the contraversial one - the Warriors crashed the net and seem to force Alan Levers, and the puck, across the line - in almost exactly the same way that got our 'winner' disallowed against Coventry a couple of weeks ago.
Still, we move on now - and look to the playoffs BUT we have 2 home games left, against Blackburn next Sunday, and Sheffield the following Sunday and we'd all appreciate the support!
As soon as final positions are decided we should be able to release playoff dates.
Games face off on the Olympic pad at 7.15 (approx.) Tickets are £5 for adults, £4 for concessions and £3 for Under -16s.

Result Lions 0 Hawks 5.
That was a terrible display and it didn't help that the ref called everything - and I mean everything! I've been told that the even strength score was 1-0 to the Hawks! Hawks were even awarded a penalty shot - that was pinged off the post.
After a couple of scraps at the end of the game the final minute was left to count down.
Also, this loss means Whitley Warriors are 2009/10 League Champions.

Final score was Nottingham Lions 8 - 3 Sheffield Spartans.
Bit of a crazy game... referee was Blaine Evans, and for the first period at least, it seemed liked the Lions were permanently on the penalty kill! Which is very bad, since we've been conceding a lot of powerplay goals lately... and, in fact, all 3 of Sheffield's goals tonight were on the PP!
(Interestingly, I heard complaints from both sets of fans that Evans was loading all the penalties against their side... yet apart from a 10min misconduct to one of the Spartans, both teams had equal PIMs of 18 each. Go figure...)
Lions went down 2-0 fairly early on, but dragged it back to 2-2... things see-sawed a bit until the end of the 2nd period, when the score stood at 4-3 to the home side.
Then the third period was when it got good.
2 quick goals for the Lions from Adam Robinson saw us pull away to 6-3, and that's how it lasted until less than 3 minutes to go, when Robbo got yet another one - his 4th of the night - to make it a natural hat-trick (been a while since I saw one of them!) and another Lions goal a minute or so later was just icing on the cake. With 4+1, not surprisingly it was Robbo that got MoM!
So... we didn't get the league title, but we ended up 2nd. Disappointing, but not too bad.
Now for the play-offs!

And the Lions win 3-1.
A closer result than it might have been... if our PP had been firing on all cylinders, we could have reached double figures! Coventry got 34 minutes in minor penalties, plus three 10-minute misconducts... Lions got 14 PIMs altogether. And outshooting them 18-2 in the first (eventually outshooting 39-10 in total)... their goalie deserved his MoM award.
Next weekend's return match down at the Skydome could be interesting... Coventry were a little volatile tonight, to say the least...

Open your other Nottingham eye Shaggy. The Lions got by far the best end of some very dubious calls Sunday night. The Nottingham fans by me found him very amusing, both teams we're doing the same but the ref chosse to call everything against Coventry. You were right in the aspect that the Lions should of won by more but 5 on 5 the game was pretty even. Not long ago YOU were complianing about the poor referee against Blackburn because 4 out of their 5 goals were on the powerplay, sorry but you can't have it your way always.

I see Blaze are icing Elite player Henry. Do players not need to play some many games to be eligible for the play-offs?

Final score was 3-4 to Lions. 2 breakaway goals for Chris Colegate, Gareth O'Flaherty scores the 3rd to tie it up as the 2nd ended 3-2 to Blaze. Man of the match awards went to Colegate and McWilliams, both scoring two. I see Blaze are icing Elite player Henry. Do players not need to play some many games to be eligible for the play-offs? No, the 15-game qualifying rule was scrapped just before the playoffs - hence Kohvhakka icing for the Blaze last weekend. Blaze were trying to delay the faceoff of tonight's game to give the Elite/ENL players chance to get back from Nottingham but it started on time.

Final Score Telford 1 Lions 3 MoM not awarded due toi Titans being thugs!

Titans got their first penalty after just 18 seconds and their 2nd after 67....! The whole game was full of slashing, holding, hooking and elbows. Plenty of cheapshots and stuff off the puck.
Then at 57.50 it kicks off - Willliams gets 2 for high sticks and 5+Game for resisting linesman with Ashley Stanton getting 2+10 for Checking from behind. At 57.57 Fielder gets 2 for Slashing and a Match for Roughing. Lions were already leading 3-1 at this point.
Then at the handshakes, Stanton, Roden, Jesson and Bennett were only interested in going with the Lions - specifically Nick Whyatt (yes, he can be a windup merchant but still)
The Nottingham coach then ordered all the Lions players to the bench and then asked them to leave the ice - to prevent any further scuffles.
Titans were presented with their MoM - went to #24, and from what I could hear from some of the Titans players they were pretty embarrassed about their team-mates antics.
Telford return to Nottingham next weekend....
Lions goals for Josh Ward, Dean Mills and Marcus Maynard, Titans by Marek Hornak. Total pens Titans 102, Lions 12.
Shots on goal - Titans Hunt 13+19+25 - 57 Lions' Griffiths 15+8+12 - 35

The playoff game between Lions and Telford on Sunday 11th has been cancelled and awarded as a 0-0 draw.
Due to a backlog of Junior fixtures, the NIC have re-allocated the Lions ice time to a junior game, and as the fixture cannot be re-arranged the League had informed the Lions that the game has been cancelled.
More details about the Playoff final will be posted as soon as we get them.

So who gets the points,do they go to the away team as in the other cancelled play-off games? Not sure but this does not effect the play-off positions, Lions stay top?

I haven't had confirmation yet as to what is happening with the points. The game has been awarded 0-0 and I'm presuming that it's 2 points to Telford but it could equally be a point each.
Whatever happens it doesn't affect the Lions position as group winners - we have 6 points and neither Coventry or Telford can catch us. This means we'll play Whitley Bay in the Northern Playoff Finals, and we'll post the dates of these Home & Away games as soon as we know!
