Where are people going this year, or have already been? Any tips on places or things to avoid? What would you like to know about somewhere?
I will start the ball rolling with details of a trip to Turkey last week.
Bad - Thomas Cook flights. Apart from the fact they miscounted the luggage onto the plane (which we all had to get off and identify, to find no surplus luggage at all, and delay the flight by nearly two hours) the leg room is minimal. If you need extra leg room try and get the emergency exit seats.
Bad - Hassle by shop keepers. Virtually everywhere in Kusadarsi had people trying to drag you into shops and wanted to go through the entire range of stuff with you.
Good - Cheap country - eating out was reasonable and the food was good. Taxi's were quite cheap, and some restaurants would pay for your taxi back to your hotel.
Good - Lots of history to see. Ephesus, Priene and the castle at Bodrum are well worth visits to.

I've never been to Turkey and hope to go sometime. I have heard good and bad reports about it. I'm going to Florida this year. I go in 7 weeks from today and I can't wait. It's been a few years since I was there so really looking forward to it. Flying with Virgin Atlantic via Gatwick this time.

Florida a couple of years back....
Weather was great, loads to do .... Hire a car though. Public transport is non existent. Trouble is, food wise, everything is so processed. You never feel like you are eating anything healthy. meals in restaurants all are identical... but again everyone is really really freindly... and Maccy Ds has MASSIVE portions.
Rhodes before that. Beautiful place and again with the history.... the old town was incredible and you can see where the colossus once stood. Food was great. Had Kebab that came with Tzatziki which is one of the nicest things i have ever tasted!
I wanna do a city break this year. Possibly Berlin. Went there a few years back and enjoyed it

We stopped at the same place. Free bar and food virtually all day with really good facilities. Close to quite a few good places to visit as well.

Went to Barbados the day after the playoffs weekend. Fabulous place, 2nd time in two years and would go back again. Flew bmi from Manchester far easier than Heathrow.
Will be going to the Lake District later in the year, my favourite place in Britain.

I went to Malta last year which was different, it does look a bit like Israel on an island and some of the roads are better in Iraq but the people are the friendliest i've ever come across abroad and the place has this charm and pull factor which makes me hope i go back again sometime soon.
500,000 people live on an island smaller than the Isle of White and it has the highest rate of car ownership per sq km than anywhere in the world

On vacation now, officially out of work, however just finished planning the following.
Whistle stop tour of Switzerland and Austria for Euro 2008, probably have a couple or 3 weeks there depending how the family is (they are coming with me).
Beijing in August for at least a fortnight, maybe longer depending on the markets, and Team GB success.
Moscow for few days week after next.
As for holidays, currently looking for a property in the Canaries, so hoping to have a few weeks estate agent tormenting between now and the start of the Premier League in August, when the circus starts over again.

Going to canada in oct for 6 days taking in montreal, ottawa, toronto and niagara falls- can't wait Blimey all in 6 days? You're packin it in a bit aren't you?!!! Niagara Falls is THE most amazing place - my fave place in the whole world (though obviously I've not been everywhere!). Make sure you do a Maid of the Mist boat trip if it's still running when you get there. I want to go back when it's all frozen up - the pics of the iced up falls that you will see when there look amazing.

I'm doing it as an escorted tour so at least it will be sorted for me as i'm taking my grandad so it'll be less hassle for me. Tbh i wasn't fussed for it at first but its an opportunity to great to miss really, Apart from the obvious what else is there to do at niagara falls? i've seen the grand canyon already this year and then niagara falls to come. I don't know what to go to next anyone got any suggestions?

The mist & spray from the falls had frozen trees, lamposts, virtually everything it touched. It was a spectacular sight.
