Steelers cancelling their move to rotherham. As they've won something they expect all glory supporters out of the woodwork and fill the seats at HOS.

Is it true that the players wages were just stopped dead after the last game. And also that several players, including Pelts had their sponsorship cars taken, and accommodation withdrawn immediately. no its not true, i saw ryan Shmyr yesterday in a panthers car pulling into the car park and Jon coleman moved out last weekend. (his apartment is in the same block as mine) Thanks guys, like I said that was my first season, and somebody told me about the cars and apartments. Did not know whether to believe it or not. Just call me gullible ;D.

The players stop being paid whatever weekend they play their last game. As for cars and houses,it is standard practice that they get to keep them for about a week, after that if they want to stay on a bit it is up to them to make their own arrangements.

Pelts has already been tapped up by the Blaze as he is good friends with Cloots. He will not make a decision until Ellie has been sorted. No Ellie quite a few players are walking. As for Askey, he wants to return also the onl stumbling block will be wages as he wants an increase and has been told there is no extra cash. Can't see Macca coming back although he has said it depends whats happening to Ellie care to elaborate on where you got this info from? Yes 2 of the players themselves and one from inside the camp..

Well I wouldnt give two hoots if Pelletier left for Coventry.
As for Askey and McAslan, I hope they stay but if they start asking too much money then bye-bye as far as i'm concerned.
Shmyr won't be back. I reckon he'll go back to Rio Grande.

David Cullen, Syracuse Crunch as Neil Martins replacement.
Those in the know have him signed up and already sorted out on a University course.
I heard the deal feel through at the last minute.........

Stats here for anyone intrested: David Cullen

I'm not sure about Ryan, he definately wants to stay and was on the verge of asking Ellie if he figured in next years plans just before the NEP article was written. I have a feeling we may see a replacement for Ryan in the shape of Carlyle Lewis.

I'd like Ryan to stay, everyone seems to want Lewis but Belfast fans I've spoken to aren't bothered if he stays or goes, not a great sign

Ryan Shmyr far too inconistant for my liking. Some games he can be good enforcer, and usally pops up with a goal when you need one. But when he can't be bothered you can really tell his body language towards the end of the season wasn't great at all, not bothered if he leaves.
I'd like it if we brought Cloutier in from Manchester to be our enforcer, and try a get Maxwell from Grande Rio Killer Bee's as our power foward.

Didn't Ryan give Clouts a bit of a beating this season? I definitely remember a Pager pic from the fight where Clouts was bleeding afterwards anyway. I don't think that'd be any sort of improvement personally.

Cheers, "bit of a beating" might've been a little optimistic on my part by the sounds of it, but I still don't think Clouts would bring anything that Ryan doesn't/couldn't. If we replace him I'd rather see a guy new to the league I reckon.

With regards to an enforcer, if we are to sign one i think someone new to the league would be better option, come over here with a point to prove just like ryan did in his first season.
I know that some like shmyr but he has run his course with us and this league imo.

Wheter Ryan gave someone a beating or not. It doesn't mean that they are going to be at a team next year. Like i've said before, i don't think Ryan will be here because he can't do what he wants because Ellis wouldn't let him to and i think he will go to a team (in this country or abroad) who would let him do his enforcer job in his own way.
I think that's the reason everybody has been unimpressed with shmyr this year, just because of ellis and what he's told him to do and not do, and basically this is all down to whatever his boss says, he has to do, which you can't fault him for because at the end of the day he is doing the job he loves.

If He (ryan) is to be replaced we'd better get someone damn good. IMO if Ellis stays Shmyr will stay.

If we don't sign Shmyr next season I'm pretty sure he'll go to another Elite club as he really likes it over here. Say he goes to Newcastle, he will be left to do whatever he likes and I'd bet money he'd come back and terrorise us big time

Of whats in the league, id go for Lewis or Voth ... far better players or maybe stefishen

... if Ellis stays Shmyr will stay. Another reason why it's time to let Ellis prevent his fighters from fighting, play his D-men in attack and pull names out of a hat every week to decide on his forward lines elsewhere next year.

Pidge stop repeating yourself, you can put the Shmyr bashing down for this thread mate.
Clouthier, no chance. Massively over rated, hockey wise hes no better than Shmyr and fight wise its about even. Clouthier came here from the AHL though whereas Ryan was from the CHL.
Lewis: Ideally, has massively impressed me. Doesnt have much presence though and doesnt seem to do much off the puck. Id take him as a hockey player but needs backup.
Stefishen: Havnt seen much of him but has massively impressed me.
Cornish: Doesnt bring enough hockey to the plate.
Ndur: As a D man yes, not as our only enforcer though.
Payette: Spent force, over rated.
New guy: Always a gamble with enforcers. They are either heroes or villains and it can very wrong.
Shmyr: A fresh season would do him good, has had his head down a lot at times but theres alot worse out there. Depends on money but id take an educated guess hes not on as much as some people seem to think on here

I think us and Coventry have both proved this season that you can be succesful without an enforcer.
My first choice for the Steelers would be Derek Campbell from the Vipers. Not the most gifted player but works his backside off and got a healthy output of points last season (66) oh and he can certainly throw his fists with the best of them!
