Just bought nickelbacks album yesterday and it is awesome. hahahahaha. oh spike, you dont half make me laugh. i cant stand nickelback, but at the same time, their songs are irritatingly infectious. they are a band that have that amazing quality that means they are cool to hate, but at the same time peoples guilty pleasure. spike, sack nickelback off and check out bruce springsteens new album 'magic'.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. *sarcasm* You can't stand nickelback, your opinion. But it makes you laugh that i like a band that you don't like. Is that meant to get me to sell the album just because i like it and you don't. I feel that my post in your sob story thread could soon be edited, because now i feel you direct comments at me.

dont be dissing The Boss. you know, nickelback could learn alot from The Boss. with his new album, i can hear similarities between both bands/artists music. shame you instantly dismiss the blue collar rock of The Boss so easily.
did you not read the part where i typed that nickelback are irritatingly infectious, meaning that i cant help but like the singles? no, i dont want you to be selling your album, what you like is wwhat you like and i cant take that away from you, but it doesnt stop me having an opinion on it. there are so many better bands out there than nickelback, in time, you'll discover them.
seems like you are getting on the defensive for no reason. go ahead, please go ahead and edit your comments in the sob story thread if you think that it will make a difference to how i post. but to think im singling you out is ridiculous. i laughed at premak for liking maiden, but did you see him highlighting text in his quote and getting upset about it? no? didnt think so.
i understand im the black sheep of the cage, so feel free to take my words out of context and have a go at me for no reason, spike. atleast you'll hear no arguments from anyone else when you do. if i was being a complete and utter arse i wouldnt have offered a recommendation and agreed with you about nickelback, maybe you ought to think about that before you decide to take a post i make to heart for no reason.

First point i mis - interpreted your post and didn't relise what you meant about "irritatingly infectious" and took it the wrong way. Second point me and premak are different people, so he might be able to take something like that a different way to what i do. Third point, i will stick by what i previously put in my last post, you can single me out at times, not all the time, for whatever i post, you seem to disagree or have a counter argument for alot that i say. Back on topic, as anyone got one republic's new album? What is it like?

What is it like? dude, you and premak are two very different posters, but i'll be damned if i believe either of you will get mardy if i laugh/scoff/have an opinion on a band you like. its music, people are going to agree with you sometimes and disagree with you at other times, get over it. i still think you are taking this incredibly personal, i dont aim things at you, i dont wait for you to reply, i just post when i have something to reply to. so what if i disagree with what you type, or argue a different point? the worlds not out to get you, im not out to get you, i just dont agree. again, whats the big deal with that man? on the topic of one republic... hahahahaha. oh spike, you dont half make me laugh.

Your last line again to prevoke a responce. no, my last line to have a laugh at the comment that kicked off the whole previous moan. i thought you'd see i was having a laugh. maybe i ought to go back to posting smileys in every thread if you are this sensitive, spike.

Jeez, buster, are you like that with the kids you teach? Every time they have an opinion, do you laugh at them? No wonder they have no respect for anyone these days, if their teacher has no respect for their opinions.

In that case I shall treat all your posts the same. It appears you can rarely be serious on here and are extremely opinionated, but lots of people on here are. So rather than click the ignore user button, as I am sure some have, I shall just laugh along.

Back on topic for a short while anyway. I was brought up on 80`s music, alot of it i must admit seems very cheesey when i listen to it nowdays, but does hold alot of memories for me. Having 2 kids one of 8 and a teenager i have to up with listening to alsorts of stuff. I must admi i do find myself singing along to High school musical sometimes lol. Having a teenager i`ve also discovered bands that i wouldn`t normally of listened to, atm i`ve been listening to Hard fi while driving to work. I like nothing more than dancing to motown when i`m out with my mates but dont tend to listen to it at any other time. Some of my fav stuff of the moment is, James Morrisson, Amy Winehouse, Gabrielle, Ne-yo Razorlight, Snow Patrol and i must admit to owning CD`s by Blue and Take That. Also a couple of tracks by Nelly and uncle Kracker that i listen to alot. As long as you like a song, who cares what other people think cos i don`t. Going off topic i must say i`m so glad of the Ignore button. Good on ya Spike, Get a life Buster,

See what I am thinking here is that so many people take issue with your style or posting. Is it something wrong with the all the people who disagree with you Buster or is it likely to be the same common denominator i.e. you.. You say you are having a laugh all the time, but like I posted before no one can take you seriously because of it. You come across as arrogant and brash, way too OTT. You know a lot about music granted. But don't take the pi$$ and mock someone else's music choice. Who cares what they are into, you don't have to make it publically known you can't stand them and anyone who listens to them have crap tastes in music, because it's how you portray yourself. I am not saying don't have an opinion, you do need to tone down tho...don't be so confrontational. You say you are an outsider, a black sheep etc.....but it's you and only you which is to blame for your unpopularity. Maybe this should have been sent in a PM...but hey ho. I will end back on topic, why do the Panthers insist on playing the same break in play music these last few weeks. It's seems to always switch between 'Solid Gold Easy Action' and the Clap Clap Song, like all game?

thats the point, dawn and rob, i even said it myself, that i cant take away from people what they like, but half the fun is having a bit of banter about what bands others like. im under no illusion that people can and will rip apart my music tastes, but hey, i like them and i dont get mardy about it, do i? i mean if i do, please point it out, because i honestly dont think i do.
you know you say that i dont have to voice that i dont like a band (even though i admitted they are one of my guilty pleasures, a contradiction on my part?) but i shouldnt just be allowed to post on here when i agree with everything that is posted. im not a 'yes' man, and besides, some of the best conversations about anything have come from two opposing views on a subject.
i take on board about people thinking im confrontational, again, i see that my posts are deemed that way because of the negative view people hold of me. arrogance, brash yeah maybe, but confrontational? i dont get that, especially in reply to spikes posts where i offered advice (where he reacted the exact same way as i did, though i dont see anyone jumping on his 'attitude') and agreed with him to a certain extent with regards to nickelback. i dont think i was confrontational, even spike said he initially mis-interprated what i meant, and thats what sparked this whole thing off.
i think because of the general perception of my posting (not of me) i get penalised for innocent comments where as if someone else made them, they would go un-noticed.
personally, i think grumpy said it best.

As long as you like a song, who cares what other people think cos i don`t. couldnt have said it better myself, dawn, though i must point out that i realise even though i dont care what people think of the artists i like and my taste in music, i understand that people will still have their own opinion on them and will voice it occasionally whether they agree with me or not. seriously though, reading back all this might have been avoided if i had phrased 'irritatingly infectious' differently.

Well Buster, I did not think that Bruce would be brought up on this thread but you surprised me.
Don't get me started.....the absolute best (in my opinion of course) and I am waiting eagerly for the summer concerts when I have tickets for London and Cardiff.
As for "Magic" specifically, I like the songs a lot but not the production. Apparently the band didn't actually get together in the studio, they all recorded their tracks independently and I think it shows. It sounds more like the non-E Street Band stuff from the early 90s in some ways. But the songwriting is well up to scratch and when you hear those songs live with the band feeding off one another and in full flow, you get the effect of how they should sound.

I too liked the Nickelback "All the Right Reasons" cd but for anyone who likes that style, then they should try Shinedown. Their most recent cd "Us & Them" was released in 2005. Here is their wiki entry. IMO vocalist Brent Smith is way better than Chad Kroeger

Conflicting schedules were indeed the problem as far as I know. Not sure about Steven's Sopranos commitments but I believe there was a problem with Max Weinberg because he is in the house band for one of the nightly US entertainment shows (David Letterman type things). This year's shows should be great. The O2 in December was excellent, a very good mix of new material, older stuff, a few surprises and of course the classics. I think on the second leg of a tour he tends to drop a couple from the new album in favour of more older songs (at least that was what happened on the Rising tour) and to mix it up more from night to night. Seeger tour was good in the sense of seeing those songs (which I like a lot) played with such enthusiasm by great musicians but not in the same league as the E Street Band. I thought he should have done more of his back catalogue with the Seeger band too, many of his songs would lend themselves well to a performance in that kind of style. Anyway, off to listen to Magic while cooking dinner now...
