I'd take Caruso over Despres if he wanted to return, I was really impressed with how he stepped his game up once made captain. And a yes to Neill and Lunsjö. Welsh is a maybe. The rest, less so and definitely no to Anderson and Rok. Despres for me all day long. Under the condtion he gets himself fitter. I was a big fan of Caruso too and he could still do a job too with the right setup. Caruso was definitely much improved this season but he still gives away far too many cheap penalties for my liking. I would imagine like all whose uni deal expires with the Panthers that he’ll retire

Fully expecting a retirement or at least going to a low league North American side.

I always thought he was caught out of position too much for a player with that much experience and the took daft penalties.

From the usually accurate account who often puts out close to announcements. If this turns out as true then there shouldn't be a Panthers fan of any kind who isn't angry at the club. You can bet your bottom dollar it'll be down to £££. I dont care if he wanted 20% more, 50% or double. As long as it was in line with those other top Brits around the league we should've paid it. No way he goes to Scotland without the money being better. If Glasgow can pay it so can Panthers. Somebody will have chosen not to.

Maybe he wants to try his luck elsewhere? Maybe he’s just listening to what they have to say? He hasn’t signed yet. I’d welcome him back, but equally I don’t want anyone who doesn’t want to be here. Might not be just down to £.

Agree if this true then it’s really poor from Panthers as there is no way we can’t match whatever Clan offer. The only thing that makes me unsure about Joe is this will be second time he’s spent relatively 5 minutes at the club before (seemingly) jumping ship to a smaller club in the EIHL. Don’t know what says about his character?

Not saying this is his reasoning but by going to the Clan he’d be playing for CN who has a strong history of developing young British defensemen, he will know him well from growing up in Nottingham and he’d be playing for one of the coaches for GB which isn’t a bad thing if you’ve got aspirations of playing for the national team

Don’t know what says about his character? First time he left to go to Manchester was because he was a bit of a spare part. Often used as a forward when wanting to develop his D game. If it's money this time then what it tells me about his character is that he knows his value and he wont sell himself short just because it's Panthers.

Really disappointing. Don’t know who to be annoyed at. Panthers or Joe himself. In that statement it says Panthers did all they could to sign him up. Which could mean just that or could mean they did all they were willing to. Either way it sounds like we definitely wanted him to return.
Also says to me that Joe isn’t entirely loyal or passionate about Panthers seeing as we were the ones to offer him a way out Hungary and was given a big role within the team. Even if the Clan did offer more money I can’t see them breaking the bank him. Steelers maybe but not Clan

Disappointing, but not the end of the world.
Rather have players here who want to be here. If they don’t, good luck to him and we move on.

If as the statement says Panthers did all they could to keep Joe, it likely means they prioritised attempting to re-sign him at the expense of one of the other brits (Logan or Tetlow) who at the time Panthers were prepared to let go, or the player themselves were looking to leave.
As of a couple of weeks ago i was told Logan hadn't heard anything from the club about next season, whether that's true or not...

The did all we could line just means they offered him a contract for next season at the price they wanted to pay

“Quick, Omar. The fans are moaning. Announce something!!” Ollie is back. I would imagine Ollie was already done and dusted as Pacha has already eluded to having players signed up but I’d bet any money that losing Hazeldine has prompted him to make an impromptu announcement to appease the fans and soften the blow

Wonder if a 2yr deal swung it for Joe?
