Maybe they’ll do an interview this week with this ‘last import’ as part of his announcement? Nobody knows, relax, enjoy the last few days of the summer and let the club crack on, they’re the only folk who need to worry about sorting the players That would be a good way to reveal the last dman The home shirt reveal is on Monday. Could they be going for a double whammy??

Was it ridiculous last year? Was it unacceptable then as well? Or was it worth the wait? Just wondering as... ...we didn't announce Adam until the *25th* of August. So a full 9 days later than today. And I think it's safe to say that pretty much every other team was wishing they had that kind of impact announcement to make in the last days of August last year. Who knows what this year will bring in terms of the final signing but people were saying the same last year. Time will tell but it's definitely not unprecedented and clearly not a negative simply because others have completed rosters. Same situation last year and nobody ultimately felt it was either ridiculous or unacceptable so... Not that I'm especially bothered if we're complete yet or not, but we also started later last year - first pre-season game was September 9th, pre-season the week prior. I'd like to have them all in place for the start of training camp ideally, give us the best chance to get off to a good start. I think in recent years we've been much better at that than the old days. That's true and a good point- our first CC game this year is the 13th as opposed to the 23rd last year. Given how tight their ship has been lately I'm half wondering if it's all done and they're just waiting for him to land to announce - and hopefully that it's a big enough statement signing again that other teams don't have time to respond. But that's blue sky thinking I suspect. One the dates, one thing that I think might work in our favour this year is us not having a league game until the 2nd of October if my maths is right. Last year we had one CC on the 23rd Sept and then first league game the following night on the 24th if memory serves. With our first competitive game being a CC game on the 13th of September that gives us nearly three weeks to get the lines firing and established before our first league game that counts. Can't help thinking that's no bad thing. We've had some season where a slow start had hamstring is from being competitive later on in the league. Hopefully with the returning players and those weeks before league play systems and lines will be a bit more drilled and set before the first league points are up for grabs

But that's blue sky thinking I suspect. I'll not be surprised if getting Sam back is our big signing this year, and I'd have no problem with that. I'm less high on Cardiff, Belfast and Sheffield's rosters, when compared to us so far, than a few on here. Could well be done and dusted already, and saving it for the jersey launch (I was just wondering when they were going to do that). Is that an in-person thing? I've not seen any advertising for it. One the dates, one thing that I think might work in our favour this year is us not having a league game until the 2nd of October if my maths is right. Yes 6 CC games to start with after the 6 pre-season games, should be well in the groove for the league. Again though, in the good group (ours), the Cup has a bit more about it for me this year, the games seem a lot less pointless, I'd like us to do well in that - it is our cup after all.

Yeah I had that thought to and would be okay with it like you. It's a hell of a statement after his last time in the league. But always nice to dream 😉 I don't know if it's in person. All I've seen is a tweet. Home and alternate will be revealed on Monday. Away shirt a few days later for some reason. The breaking up into two dates is what made me wonder a bit Yeah. I'm with you on the CC and I can't see Herr letting anyone slack on it. But it often feels like the opening rounds of the CC are a bit more forgiving, if that's the right word. As long as you progress to the next round you've not really lost any points, unlike having lots of league games in September. Hoping that gives a little edge when we join league play after the others

Ticks a lot of boxes and also played with Adam Berg last year. He'd be a good one.

Quinn Wichers was signed to a PTO by Providence Bruins at the end of April - does that rule him out?
If it does theres one other guy - Christian Silfver - who also has a birthday today

Hope it is Wichers as Silfver would be a disappointing end to the summer recruitment IMO. Only reservation on Wichers would be having a pretty inexperienced group of D men. The oldest would be Wichers and Spencer at just 27

(Nicked the below off Google) Professional tryout In the AHL, this type of contract is limited to 25 games. Teams may sign players to multiple PTOs at any time during the season, provided that after the completion of the PTO, the player has the right to sign a regular AHL contract or a PTO with another AHL team.

Come and practice/play a game or few with us (max is 25 apparently) we'll have a look at you (and pay you), without necessarily signing you to a "proper" contract. Which you may or may not get afterwards. Google is your friend.

Only 1,574 players with birthdays today on Elite Prospects. Should have found him by the time he's announced later!
