Panthers always seem to lose points in those greasy mid week games . And win those big profile Saturday night Cardiff ones . In "non weekend" games this season, Panthers are 4-8-0. And above average 4-3-0 at home and a pretty poor 0-5-0 away. Saturday nights at home vs the "big" teams, Panthers are 1-3-0 this season. Include the away games on Saturdays and it's 2-6-0. Soon to be 2-7-0 I suspect.

Another stat is that Panthers have lost 126 man games to injury so far, from 46 games. Almost 3 players per game unavailable. Every D-man has missed games due to injury, and all bar 3 forwards have missed games. Only 13, 43 and 56 are "ever present". So, quite disruptive. Wonder how other teams compare?

Check how Belfast did for injuries. I’ll bet they missed a lot, for mainly imports too, like Mark Cooper (big loss) and Tedesco. But a big chunk of Panthers missed games will be Tetlow and Betteridge, neither of who’m are game breakers.

I dont think competing for the league would've hapoened, but considering Belfast have been poor and the rest are much of a muchness I think we could've easily competed for 4th and maybe even 3rd this season. Yes but back in October not many would have predicted Belfast to be so hot and cold throughout the season. Panthers always seem to lose points in those greasy mid week games . And win those big profile Saturday night Cardiff ones . They'll continue to be down the bottom until they sort out that god awful defence and netminding irrespective of how many points the likes of Roy and Michaud rake up Which is hopefully something that will at least be attempted to remedy in the summer. The only import D I could see being retained is Neill. Let Tetlow go and keep Hazeldine and sign a goalie who isn’t a sieve. You mention Roy and Michaud and I’d add Nieminen, Henbrant and Lunsjo to that list as players who have done well and put up the points and are well worth retaining. Unlike last season where the entire roster was crap. The hockey was boring and there was nothing to be positive about

Half the problem with the Panthers has gone. Black remains. Given the tragic circumstances of this season, Black's lack of input on multiple levels is shameful.

I see all this hate for Black, but surely Pasha is in charge? You don’t really want an owner sticking his nose in. If Pasha is responsible for the signings and day to day, that’s where the problem lies. Whoever coach is next year, they need a greater input into signings. I’m not adverse to a return for Parades (if he’s up for it) but he needs backing in the areas we are lacking.

It is up to the owner to approve the funds for the team, especially after the tragedy this season. With the fixture chaos that was always going to happen and the injuries that happened, he is the person who decides on whether there was extra funding to help the team compete by signing spare import players. We have not signed up to the permitted limit of imports and have not used injury reserves. This short sightedness and skimping will now mean he probably losses a big gate quarter final against Sheffield. Gary Moran drove us all mad but it seems that now he is gone there is no one who has any influence on Black. Gary would of been fighting to bring in more players this year as he did in other years. This year maybe a one off with what happened but I still don't expect us to compete next year.

It’s obvious they should have brought extra cover in which Pacha should have seen,if he didn’t see it that’s on him. If he wanted to do it but Black wouldn’t fund it then it’s on Black. As for Paredes,I just see and hear a coach that looks well out of his depth and pretty clueless how to change things.

A really good guy I’m sure but horribly out of his depth in the EIHL and Pasha is a great example of the Peter Principle too. From the games I have seen I’ve not seen any coaching at all and whoever signed the team is completely clueless.

His first year in England and had to cope with the AJ tragedy.
Could quite easily have gone back to France and family if he wanted.
Next year would be so much wiser. Should be up to him if he wants to stay and what he wants.
If you look elsewhere, you’ve either got to poach a coach with experience of this league or take a chance on another rookie with no EIHL experience.
On balance, I’m prepared to give him another shot, if he wants it, but with his own requirements rather than Pacha filling the roster.

If JP doesn't want to return then Kevin Moore would be my first thought.

If you're serious about winning you poach a decent coach , someone who is used to the North American style which this league plays.

Has any coach other than a Brit,Canadian or American ever won a trophy in the EIHL ? I can’t think of one.

Well when the sport here consists of probably around 80% North Americans that’s hardly surprising is it? Bottom line is I don’t care really what nationality they are as long as they can improve our team

Now you know you’re just being completely obtuse and ignoring all the circumstances this season. GG and RC built two of the worst and most awful to watch teams put together since I’ve been watching What about all the other Canadians/Americans who have produced quality teams around the league over the years? So if the majority of coaches in a Canadian and American dominated sport are inevitably also Canadian and American then surely the previous posters question is equally valid? Or to put it another way... What about all the Canadian and Americans who've produced sucky teams in the league? Like GG and RC etc If 95% of all the coaches have been Canadian and American then it equally stands to reason that...95% of the least successful coaches have also been Canadian/American And as for playing a North American style of hockey...I think back to our most successful coach CN saying that it took him a while to adjust to playing in the UK, precisely because the style of play and ice size was so different. In fact, much of cage wanted to get rid of him in his first season as a player whilst he adjusted! And as a coach CN was open about saying that some systems you can play on a North American ice pad just won't work on the International ice pad. So not exactly an advantage in and of itself to be a North American coach on an International pad size it would seem?

How many coaches come in and see it click in their first season?
Before a puck was dropped this season, many were laughing that Steelers coach was still employed. They have stuck with him, added year on year and have reaped the rewards.
Parades has a good record over time, and can be forgiven for this year given the AJ situation. His stock was / is still high after his record in France to improve teams over time.
Go for an overseas coach again and you have to give them a season (or two) to create any serious impact.

Unfortunately I feel Paredes will leave at the end of the season, you get the impression the situation has taken its toll on him. But I do agree with you though, you have to give a coach time/ numerous seasons to build a team. If Paredes does want to stay and try and building something then great, if not, where do we look? Bruce Richardson maybe?
