Thought I'd add to this rather start yet another thread. Browsing various social media outlets over the weekend and can note several things. One fan group on facebook has threaten to ban any poster who criticises the players or club, saying that with what happened there should be 100% support for the players and their heroicism for stepping on the ice. Any post that states otherwise the poster is villified for not being a 'true' fan and should stop going as 'the boys' are going through enough and dont deserve it. They refer to the players as 'her boys' or 'my boys' and that they seek them out on social media to offer support after each match. Is this the sort of supporter the club now has? Where they seem to think of them as their friend? Or is it the generational thing that cannot differenciate between casual contact and something more. How will they cope next season when most leave and go elsewhere and not give these fans another thought. Same on X (formerly twitter) people replying to posts on the same thing and stating they are activily looking for people who criticise the club so they can block them. Is the fan who goes now, not able to see that they are watching a professional sport and that the players are doing a job and not their friends / comfort blanket? All these "real fans" are doing is allowing Neil Black to continue his parsimonious approach to the team. 1000% agree.. these 'real' fans have no interest in seeing the team be successful on the ice you just have to read some of the idiotic comments on twitter.

Nothing more humorous than fans at opposite ends of the spectrum critiquing one another as to how to be a “real fan.”
As for the thread, can it get back on track or it’ll get locked.

It certainly makes you wonder if these self proclaimed “real fans” actually want to win and be successful on the ice or whether they’re just happy to have a few “imaginary besties”. Seems to me they’re content with the latter. 🙄

...you just have to read some of the idiotic comments on twitter. And that's Twitter for you. And the vast majority of social media. Most people with half a brain give it a wide berth.

Perhaps it's just me who has been brought up to be competitive when playing sport either playing or watching and I'm not towing the happy clapper line 🤣

Very true Bob,if you’re going on there. First rule…have a thick skin. Second rule…know your stuff. Unfortunately a lot either haven’t or don’t. Anyway back on topic,I’d let both OP and JP go at seasons end, as harsh as it may be the club needs a clean slate. Too much retained baggage can only be harmful and results wise 7th and current 10th place just isn’t good enough. First off i’d then tap Kevin Moore for some contacts.

It's about recruitment, retention and replacement and unfortunately over the last few seasons we've got all of those things badly wrong.
We haven't retained key pieces, a top end British forward like Brett Perlini for example. There aren't many British players who average 0.8ppg, we had one and for whatever reason he left. We replaced him with Luke Ferrera which looked like a good signing but his goal output went from 33 and 25 in his last two seasons in Coventry to 5 during his spell at the NIC.
Players come here with good CVs but consistently don't do the job for us, whether that is the fault of coaching and systems or a lack of diligence on our signings it's hard to say.
Simon Suoranta came here with over 350 games in the Finnish top flight and two titles, but if he's always been a third line grinder over there, he's not suddenly going to start scoring for fun over here.
Taylor Doherty had over 250 AHL games, but maybe we shouldn't have expected him to play upwards of 30 minutes a night and on the PP and PK. Corey Neilson made a very poor start to his playing career in Nottingham and said he really struggled early on with the amount of time he was expected to play every night.
I'd also say we retain the wrong players on occasion too. Jon Rheault's name has already been mentioned numerous times, you can probably add Mike Caruso to the list of two-year deals that haven't lived up to expectations. Stephen Anderson has one league goal all season and was re-signed of the basis of a strong finish to last season, but in terms of ppg wasn't even in the top 100 scorers in the league.
But until NB starts being hit in the pocket nothing will change, the Aladdin balance sheets still look very healthy indeed.

Looked like a leader to me and deserves a chance

1m balance sheet, but 750k of that is the intangible asset being a value attributed to the franchise.
Cash at bank decent, it only offsets c.200k of bank debt (50+154) and there’s other debt in there at 486k - which is only being charged at 2%. This must be directors / shareholders funds at that pricing.
Only at 18k retained profit (movement in reserves on balance sheet) so it’s hardly the cash cow some might think!
Anyway, that’s a different conversation….!

But until NB starts being hit in the pocket nothing will change, the Aladdin balance sheets still look very healthy indeed. I'd say it's not quite as simple to say if he's a 3rd liner there, he can't be a scorer here. Sam Herr was always a 3rd/4th line grinder in the AHL because that's what they wanted from him. Even in his most productive year he was 10th among forwards and 15th overall for points on his team. Plus, no team in the EIHL can sign first liners from the top leagues in Europe or the AHL. We can maybe at a push get 2nd liners, but unless we only shop in 2nd or 3rd tier leagues, those players we crave with AHL experience in 9/10 cases are going to be on lower lines or at the end of their careers. What's actually important is the skillset they have, not where they last played. However without access to real scouting, we can only number crunch off of Elite Prospects or watch 2 minutes of youtube highlights.

Anyway, that’s a different conversation….! It is, and there's very little you can tell about Aladdin from the publicly available docs. It could be making millions of profit, and the profits all dividended up to its owners pre year end, and you'd never be able to tell from the docs filed. £632k of the £750k intangible franchise value is "made up". Large amounts of the cash at 30 June is surely from season ticket sales for the next season, but I'd expect to see a commensurate deferred income creditor due in less than a year, which there doesn't seem to be, which is a bit strange. It would appear to be entwined with loans and debtors from all kinds of group companies/interested parties. Quite opaque, by design, I suspect. Without any kind of P&L, you can tell almost nothing.

Have the intergroup loans been resolved? There was a time when you could see a very particular amount loaned from the Panthers to another company, then that company loaning an exceptionally similar amount to the Clan.
